Disney fans rejoice! On this episode, Sumner Nesbitt from the Walt Disney Hometown Museum in Marceline, Missouri, joins the show to not only discuss the museum as a whole, but to really focus in on Walt Disney's "Marceline Project". This is a project Walt was trying to make a realization toward the end of his life. It's been well documnented how much Walt Disney loved his boyhood days in Marceline. Apparently, he wanted to share that love with as many people as he could in the location where it actually happened for him. The proposed "Marceline Project" would have introduced children to what it was like to be a farmer in the early 1900s using Walt's classic edutainment. Disneyland has agreed to pay $233 million dollars to settle a 2019 class-action lawsuit that alleged Disney was not adjusting wages to match the higher requirements that Anaheim had passed. In addition to the settlement, four unions representing over 14,000 employees struck a deal to raise the base pay to $24 an hour, including back pay with interest to 2019. – https://www.micechat.com/423670-disneyland-news-most-stressful-record-settlement-ceo-succession/ A new experience is coming to Naples Ristorante e Bar in Downtown Disney this Halloween season. The security checkpoint between the Disneyland Hotel and the shopping district is under construction to add a new, permanent gate. The new location for Earl of Sandwich continues to take shape, while work still continues on Lullemon in the old ESPN Zone building, and exterior work on the LEGO store. – https://www.micechat.com/423670-disneyland-news-most-stressful-record-settlement-ceo-succession/ A recent study of TripAdvisor reviews found that some of the places we like to visit the most are also the most stressful. Theme parks dominate the results, with 6 Disney locations in the top 20 worldwide. Disneyland ranks #5 globally, but #1 in the US, followed by the Las Vegas Strip, and the National Museum of American History in Washington, DC. Some reasons for theme parks to rank so highly include a combination of massive crowds, long wait times, and high expectations. Three years in and somehow we're getting weirder, in the best way. We kick off with Taco Bell's Y2K menu (double down on the double-decker), a Furby that will not die, and Jess's spooky-cool “Bottle-yaga” for Knott's Into the Fog. David returns from a cross-country odyssey (Marceline pilgrim badge unlocked) plus an Angels Flight joyride and a spicy modern-art rant (banana, meet wall). We swap EPCOT lore from the man behind “Drinking Around the World,” then dive into park reality: line-cutting mega-squads, DIY Lightning Lane scams, and why Disney's feeling more two-tier than ever. Also: introduce yourself to the Lincoln Challenge (stand like the animatronic—no hands, no lawsuits), a Star Tours hat caper, and a Patreon tease for our two-part Marceline video drop.
