We come bearing gifts! Arctic Circle seemed like the best place to review with Santa Claus in tow, so we took a road trip out to southern Utah to try it! The Good: the mini corn dogs were genuinely great, and Santa brightened a few patrons' days by having gifts for the children! The Not Good: Someone complained to management about aforementioned gift-giving, and we had to cease, also not all the food was great The Just There: To be honest, this whole chain was pretty mediocre What We Ate: Three burgers (standard, bacon, and pastrami), pumpkin pie milkshake, fries, Spanish onion rings, mini corn dogs, cheese curds, root beer ice cream (with a butterscotch topper), fry sauce Santa talks about eating "rabbit on a swing" during the fanciest meal he's ever had "Fine" Dining is now on video! Hello and welcome to episode 70 of the Still Spinning Podcast! Just for fun, Nicole gets Dan all riled up about Pumpkin Spice Lattes and Starbucks in the fall. WORTH IT. Gen Z is apparently using more sick days that other generations and there are a few reasons for it. Dan guesses what they are and he is not too far off. But some of the reasons are Sus (that is slang for suspect). It also leads into a discussion on Gen X and how we NEVER call in sick. Journey, the band, had some issues with a live performance recently and it led to the singer going to social media to have folks vote on if he should quit or not. What the actual F?? Dan has some theories as does the chat. Tune in to hear some of them. There is a zoo in China that has been painting DOGS to look like PANDAS and they got found out. This story made Nicole laugh quite a lot, it is pretty unbelievable. And finally, a small British child has been denied a passport and you will not even believe the reason. Let's just say, the force is NOT strong with this one. We discuss baby names and parental responsibility. Thanks so much for tuning in! Happy Monday, Christmas fanatics! We were going to wait to drop this episode until midway through October, but since life got in the way this week and we didn't get around to recording our episode on "The Addams Family" - and given the fact this episode is six-and-a-half episodes - we decided to drop this Spooky Season treat now so you have time to listen to it in full before Halloween! You've heard us refer to it a few times already in other episodes, but it's finally here: The 2024 "Tis the Podcast" Ultimate Horror Movie Bracket! In this special episode, which is becoming an annual tradition, Anthony is joined by a whole slew of special guests and self-labeled horror aficionados to determine the best horror movie amongst those listed on this year's bracket, March Madness style! The guests include: Ron Hogan and Lindsey Grelis of "Film Strip Podcast" Kendal Farrae of "Two Girls One Crypt" Matt Spaulding of "North Pole Radio" Listen as they debate and argue in real time to determine which horror movies advance through this NCAA-esque scary movie bracket as iconic films are pitted against one another in four different "divisions" for a chance to be named the best horror movie! Are Horror-comedies scary enough to go far? Will Art the Clown or Jigsaw best the other? Does Ghostface stand a chance against Michael Myers in the battle of the Legacy Sequels? Can The Warrens make it all the way again? Is "Lisa Frankenstein" too quirky to defeat "Jennifer's Body"? Is Pearl a scarier psychopath than little "Orphan" Esther? Do the Predators or the Xenomorphs star in the better prequel film? Will Zombies or Deadites reign supreme in the battle of the remakes? Which found footage franchise will go furthest this year? Is Annabelle or The Nun the scarier monster to get its own spinoff in "The Conjuring"-verse? All of these questions and much, much more are answered in this extraordinarily fun episode full of quotes, impressions, trivia, nostalgia, serenading, and laughs. This is one you definitely do not want to miss - even if it'll take you a few sittings to finish it given its length. (That's What She Said.) But that's what happens when you get a bunch of scary movie buffs onto a recording together - there's a lot of passionate gushing and vigorous debate going on here in an episode that took three recordings and a lot of blood, sweat, and tears to finish, which is why we've decided once again to drop this in your main feed instead of on Patreon. So settle in with your Pumpkin Spice Lattes, relax, and enjoy! And make sure to let us known on social media what your hosts got right, what they got wrong, and which horror movie you think should have come out on top this year! As always, thanks for your love and support, y'all! ❤️

In this episode, we uncover how Starbucks turns the Pumpkin Spice Latte into a cult favorite through the power of scarcity.
The end of Summer is upon us! It's been 21 years since Starbucks debuted the first pumpkin spice latte in 2003. Since then, it's become a cultural phenomenon greater than itself: it's shorthand for fall, for basicness, for femininity, and even for white culture. In this episode from last year, we explore why the PSL became so powerful — and how food trends garner so much meaning. Host Brittany Luse chatted with Suzy Badaracco, food trend forecaster and founder of Culinary Tides, to discuss the $500 million dollar industry, and how little miss pumpkin spice has held on to her cultural power.Learn more about sponsor message choices: podcastchoices.com/adchoicesNPR Privacy Policy

Summer vacation might officially be over for Nikki & Brie. After a wild summer in the mountains, Brie's ready for the routine of the school year. Nikki has something to say about an Instagram comment that was critical of her openness about going to therapy and the effort she's making to make all of her relationships better and evaluate communication in her marriage. Both Nikki & Brie have noticed some significant changes in how they eat and drink lately. Nikki has come to the realization that three drinks is too many and two is the magic number. Brie's noticed that she's not able to handle certain foods the same way. One thing that Nikki and Brie both have no problems with is black licorice. It could be a problem. Brie's in full Halloween mode, but Nikki thinks she could be getting ahead of herself. It's not even Labor Day and Pumpkin Spice Latte's on the menu. All of this Halloween talk reminds Nikki about something that Brie did to her house that left a lasting mark and a tiny bit of pumpkin rage. While it could be too early for PSL's, Brie already has her family Halloween costume set, while Nikki is weighing her options, but there's a clear front runner. Then, to get ready for the new school year, Nikki & Brie have to get on the same page with Editor in Beef. The Garcia Twins are editors of the school yearbook, and they have to assign superlatives to Artem, Matteo Bryan, Birdie, Buddy, and themselves. Nikki also gives some background on what she's doing in Las Vegas on Labor Day. Nikki will be hosting the Netflix special. Joey Chestnut vs. Kobayashi: Unfinished Beef will stream on Netflix on September 2! Brie closes the episode out with her pick for Inspiration & Affirmation, which is all about joy and fulfillment for yourself and not living for others. Learn more about Chestnut vs. Kobayashi: Unfinished Beef Call Nikki & Brie at 833-GARCIA2 and leave a voicemail! Follow Nikki & Brie on Instagram and send Nikki & Brie a message on Threads! This week, the elves continue their journey through Nicktoon month by covering the eighth episode of "Spongebob Squarepants"' second season, "Christmas Who?" which aired for the first time on December 6th, 2000! While Anthony is a fan of the show, Julia has some PTSD associated with it, and Thom's household does not like it. So, settle back with your Pumpkin Spice Lattes - which are officially back! - relax and enjoy! This is one festive, fun episode that's sure to kick off your week the best way possible! The Democratic National Convention this week featured a wide range of speakers, from those who railed against the billionaire class to billionaires themselves. We’ll unpack the Democratic Party’s mixed messaging on the ultrawealthy. On the other hand, the world’s central banks seem to be on the same page when it comes to interest rates. We’ll get into it.
