Well excuuuuussssee me! Welcome to pcmc! Your one-stop shop for non-toxic fandom! On today's all-new episode, host Mike Bongiorno is joined by fellow adventurer of Hyrule, Bill Gagliardi. The guys came together to discuss the 1989 Legend of Zelda animated series. This 13-episode series aired as a segment on the cult favorite TV show The Super Mario Bros. Super Show! Produced by DIC Entertainment, the cartoon was a weird combo of uneven animation, great music, bad writing, odd character choices, and blatant misogyny. Bill is a huge fan of the Zelda games and Mike is too dumb to have beaten even a single entry, but together they discuss the impact of this show on the franchise at large. When Spirit Tracks was finished, Fujibayashi and the game's development team transferred back to working on Skyward Sword.Development lasted around five years, and according to series producer Shigeru Miyamoto, the game's budget was considered quite high for a Nintendo project.Story - Shannon reads from manual - In Skyward Sword, the earliest point in the Zelda timeline, the Goddess Hylia saves humanity from the Demon King Demise by lifting them onto a floating island called Skyloft. Generations later, people believe the "Surface" below is a mere legend. The story follows a young knight-in-training named Link and his childhood friend Zelda. After Zelda is dragged to the Surface by a dark tornado, Link discovers he is the chosen hero and draws the Goddess Sword, guided by its spirit, Fi.As Link explores the ruined world below, he learns that:Zelda is the mortal reincarnation of Hylia, who gave up her divinity to find a hero capable of using the Triforce (which gods cannot use) to destroy Demise.Ghirahim, a demon lord, is working to resurrect Demise by sacrificing Zelda's soul. The Master Sword is forged during the journey as Link purifies his blade with sacred flames to empower the seal on Demise. In a final clash across time, Link defeats Demise, but the Demon King leaves a dying curse: a cycle of reincarnation that ensures his rage will haunt Link and Zelda's descendants forever. Unlike the Cryo Archive, Screamer has no chill. This week, we're back at it with more Marathon, including a daring and impossibly lucky escape from the Cryo Archive. After that, we get into some co-op rhythm action with Cadence of Hyrule, Crypt of the Necrodancer's Legend of Zelda-themed spinoff. Then, it's onto Milestone's reboot of Screamer, a racing game so full of gameplay mechanics, it's almost upsetting to describe. There's also a lot of wild gaming news this week, from a devastating shakeup at Epic to unfortunate price hikes from Sony. Check out the show on BlueSky @MarkersOnTheMap.

We've reached the end of 2025 and a full year of monthly installments of The Zelda Universe Podcast. Thanks to all of you for hearing our voices as we discuss these memorable aspects of Hyrule and this wonderful franchise. In this month's installment, Connor, Cayden, and Jared take a look at both characters and enemies that have endured through the ages, then share their thoughts about the challenges Zelda has enduring through those ages. In our feature of the month, Jared shares his appreciation for the minimalist approach the franchise has taken towards voice acting, and the team look towards the voice Link has yet to use. Bonus Episode #58 of BGMania: A Video Game Music Podcast. Today on the show, Bryan steps into the ancient past of Hyrule in Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment. After the mystery surrounding the Imprisoning War, Nintendo and Koei Tecmo finally reveal the canonical story of Demon King Ganondorf's first rise to power. In this comprehensive review, we explore how developer Koei Tecmo's AAA Games Studio has crafted the most refined Hyrule Warriors experience yet, taking players through Princess Zelda's time-displaced journey alongside King Rauru, Queen Sonia, and the legendary Sages who united to save the newly founded kingdom of Hyrule. This episode features an extensive breakdown of the game's stunning soundtrack, composed by the acclaimed MONACA collective (Keiichi Okabe, Ryuichi Takada, Kuniyuki Takahashi, Oliver Good, Keita Inoue, and Taichi Joraku), the same talented team behind NieR: Automata and Stellar Blade. We also cover the game's musou-style combat with Sync Strikes and Zonai Devices, the diverse roster of 19 playable characters, expansive side content, technical performance on the Nintendo Switch 2, and why this canonical Warriors entry stands as Bryan's favorite musou game to date. #craftbeer #zelda #blops7 HEY! LISTEN! Zelda is finally coming to the big screen and we have a handful of stills from the upcoming live-action film --- and have plenty of thoughts. Will it do Hyrule right? Only time will tell. However, speaking of movies, the social media app for movie nerds is officially debuting an online rental service. And ending on video games, we take a look at the state of the slug match between Call of Duty Black Ops 7 vs. Battlefield 6, plus Black Ops's controversial use of AI. Cheers! Welcome to Episode 147 of Nintendo Therapy, your weekly dive into Nintendo news, rumors, and everything happening across the worlds of Hyrule, the Mushroom Kingdom, and beyond. This week we kick things off with the big story: Nintendo finally released official photos of the live-action Zelda movie, and reactions are all over the place. Kevin talks through why Zelda is such a tough series to adapt into a film in the first place — from its puzzle-driven structure to its constantly shifting art styles — and why live-action may box the franchise into something it was never meant to be. We also get into the big questions: Will Link talk? Will the movie rely on Marvel-style climaxes? And can any adaptation really capture exploration and discovery the way the games do?Harrison shares his first impressions as well, including why he's hopeful but cautious, how the film can stand out in a crowded fantasy landscape, and why practical effects would've made a huge difference. We wrap up our Zelda talk with thoughts on how Nintendo Studios is positioning itself, what the future might hold, and whether the franchise is headed toward TV rather than film. From there, we jump into our weekly game segment, “Guess Which Year This Black Friday Deal Is From?”, where we revisit wild Wii doorbusters, classic 3DS bundles, and the nostalgic chaos of early Switch holiday ads. That leads straight into our massive Black Friday 2025 Nintendo deals roundup, covering the best Switch 2 discounts, surprisingly deep price drops on Switch 1 titles, standout eShop specials, and collector-friendly physical releases. We highlight the biggest bargains, the strangest markdowns, and which deals are likely to get even better over the holiday weekend. We also take a closer look at the unusual release schedule for late 2025 and early 2026. With a big 6–8 week gap after December 11th, we talk about why Nintendo might be holding back, what shadow-drops or remasters could fill the space, and what to expect from the almost-certain January Nintendo Direct. From potential Zelda remasters and Xenoblade ports to Switch 2 upgrade patches for major first-party games, there are a lot of possibilities for how Nintendo might keep momentum going into the new year. This episode also features our spotlight section covering two standout Genesis titles: Vectorman and Pulseman. We dig into why Vectorman still looks so good today, how Sega pulled off its “vector piece” animation tricks, and why its late-era Genesis style has aged into something retro-cool. Then we jump to Game Freak's electric platformer Pulseman — a game released in the U.S. only through the Sega Channel — and explore its fast movement, anime-influenced identity, experimental mechanics, and the early design DNA that eventually carried over into Pokémon. We wrap up with some final thoughts on the Zelda movie and a look at the surprise shadow-drop of Tomb Raider 2013 on the eShop, which sparks a conversation about what other remasters might be quietly waiting in the wings.Nintendo Therapy is part of the Sidepanel Network, and you can also catch Harrison's weekly show on Harrison Talks Pod. Thanks for hanging out with us — and feel free to drop your Zelda movie hopes, fears, or jokes in the comments.
