Its lighthearted tone and strategic depth make it easy to pick up but tough to master. Shua has been moved by Sentimental Value, an Academy Award–nominated drama starring Renate Reinsve, Inga Ibsdotter Lilleaas, Stellan Skarsgard, and Elle Fanning. This emotional story of estranged family members reconnecting delivers powerful performances and a heartfelt punch. Sci-Fi Saturdays - This week on Sci-Fi Saturdays Jay shines a spotlight on Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets, directed by Luc Besson. Though considered a box office disappointment, Jay found plenty to love in its ambitious world-building, visual spectacle, and pulpy sci-fi adventure energy. Read his article on RetroZap.com. And make sure to play around with the interactive map on MCULocationScout.com. Plus, you can tune in to SHIELD: Case Files where Jay and Shua talk about great stuff in the MCU. Enjoy Video Games! This week we journey back to 1986 and celebrate the revolutionary release of The Legend of Zelda, created by Shigeru Miyamoto. Inspired by childhood exploration, fantasy literature, and a desire to let players discover secrets on their own, Zelda dropped players into Hyrule with no hand-holding and no instructions beyond a wooden sword and courage. We relive dungeon bosses, secret bombable walls, cryptic old men, and the unforgettable music composed by Koji Kondo. From Aquamentus to Ganon, from Second Quest surprises to Silver Arrow victories, we explore why this game still resonates four decades later, and why sometimes the best adventures are the ones where nobody tells you what to do. Have you played through all of The Legend of Zelda? Let us know! First person that emails me with the subject line, "You have acquired a sword!" will get a special mention on the show. Let us know.
Bedtime History: Inspirational Stories for Kids and Families
The Legend of Zelda was created in the 1980s by Japanese game designer Shigeru Miyamoto. He was inspired by his childhood adventures exploring forests, caves, and fields near his home. He wanted players to feel curious and brave as they explored a magical world full of puzzles and secrets. The story follows a hero named Link, who goes on quests to save Princess Zelda and protect the land of Hyrule.
In honour of "The Legend of Zelda" and it's 40th Anniversary! We bring you an episodic homebrew campaign about several Hero of Courage nepo babies "Sliders-ing" across the inbetween periods of Hyrule Historia and it's various Eras! The Legend of Zelda: Links in the Chain Throughout the weaving history of Hyrule, many mysterious and powerful artifacts appear and circulate among Legend. One such item is the Chain of Eras, but it shall be found, not by a singular hero of courage during a time of great cause, as is so often the case. No, it shall come to pass to different sons of the Hero, during times between Legends. Once taken up, it shall bring them together for reasons yet unknown, across time and destiny. They shall be as Links in the Chain. Cast: GM Chris - Minervo (Pirate Hero of Brine from the Era of Wind) Aaron - Nox (Twili Hero of Ryme from the Era of Twilight) Dave - Severn (Zora Hero of Pine from the Era of the Wild) Session 1: Arbiter's Shadow Part 1 3 sons of the Hero of Courage, across various Eras in the history of Hyrule, have been shunted together and cast out to the seas of time and destiny for a purpose unknown by a chain like artifact. The place they find themselves currently is bright and dusty, yet shadowed by twilight. What will they do? Where will they go from here? Time will tell.

Bonus Episode #58 of BGMania: A Video Game Music Podcast. Today on the show, Bryan steps into the ancient past of Hyrule in Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment. After the mystery surrounding the Imprisoning War, Nintendo and Koei Tecmo finally reveal the canonical story of Demon King Ganondorf's first rise to power. In this comprehensive review, we explore how developer Koei Tecmo's AAA Games Studio has crafted the most refined Hyrule Warriors experience yet, taking players through Princess Zelda's time-displaced journey alongside King Rauru, Queen Sonia, and the legendary Sages who united to save the newly founded kingdom of Hyrule. This episode features an extensive breakdown of the game's stunning soundtrack, composed by the acclaimed MONACA collective (Keiichi Okabe, Ryuichi Takada, Kuniyuki Takahashi, Oliver Good, Keita Inoue, and Taichi Joraku), the same talented team behind NieR: Automata and Stellar Blade. We also cover the game's musou-style combat with Sync Strikes and Zonai Devices, the diverse roster of 19 playable characters, expansive side content, technical performance on the Nintendo Switch 2, and why this canonical Warriors entry stands as Bryan's favorite musou game to date. #craftbeer #zelda #blops7 HEY! LISTEN! Zelda is finally coming to the big screen and we have a handful of stills from the upcoming live-action film --- and have plenty of thoughts. Will it do Hyrule right? Only time will tell. However, speaking of movies, the social media app for movie nerds is officially debuting an online rental service. And ending on video games, we take a look at the state of the slug match between Call of Duty Black Ops 7 vs. Battlefield 6, plus Black Ops's controversial use of AI. Cheers! Welcome to Episode 147 of Nintendo Therapy, your weekly dive into Nintendo news, rumors, and everything happening across the worlds of Hyrule, the Mushroom Kingdom, and beyond. This week we kick things off with the big story: Nintendo finally released official photos of the live-action Zelda movie, and reactions are all over the place. Kevin talks through why Zelda is such a tough series to adapt into a film in the first place — from its puzzle-driven structure to its constantly shifting art styles — and why live-action may box the franchise into something it was never meant to be. We also get into the big questions: Will Link talk? Will the movie rely on Marvel-style climaxes? And can any adaptation really capture exploration and discovery the way the games do?Harrison shares his first impressions as well, including why he's hopeful but cautious, how the film can stand out in a crowded fantasy landscape, and why practical effects would've made a huge difference. We wrap up our Zelda talk with thoughts on how Nintendo Studios is positioning itself, what the future might hold, and whether the franchise is headed toward TV rather than film. From there, we jump into our weekly game segment, “Guess Which Year This Black Friday Deal Is From?”, where we revisit wild Wii doorbusters, classic 3DS bundles, and the nostalgic chaos of early Switch holiday ads. That leads straight into our massive Black Friday 2025 Nintendo deals roundup, covering the best Switch 2 discounts, surprisingly deep price drops on Switch 1 titles, standout eShop specials, and collector-friendly physical releases. We highlight the biggest bargains, the strangest markdowns, and which deals are likely to get even better over the holiday weekend. We also take a closer look at the unusual release schedule for late 2025 and early 2026. With a big 6–8 week gap after December 11th, we talk about why Nintendo might be holding back, what shadow-drops or remasters could fill the space, and what to expect from the almost-certain January Nintendo Direct. From potential Zelda remasters and Xenoblade ports to Switch 2 upgrade patches for major first-party games, there are a lot of possibilities for how Nintendo might keep momentum going into the new year. This episode also features our spotlight section covering two standout Genesis titles: Vectorman and Pulseman. We dig into why Vectorman still looks so good today, how Sega pulled off its “vector piece” animation tricks, and why its late-era Genesis style has aged into something retro-cool. Then we jump to Game Freak's electric platformer Pulseman — a game released in the U.S. only through the Sega Channel — and explore its fast movement, anime-influenced identity, experimental mechanics, and the early design DNA that eventually carried over into Pokémon. We wrap up with some final thoughts on the Zelda movie and a look at the surprise shadow-drop of Tomb Raider 2013 on the eShop, which sparks a conversation about what other remasters might be quietly waiting in the wings.Nintendo Therapy is part of the Sidepanel Network, and you can also catch Harrison's weekly show on Harrison Talks Pod. Thanks for hanging out with us — and feel free to drop your Zelda movie hopes, fears, or jokes in the comments.

We're joined by Legend of Zelda archivist Melora Hart (History of Hyrule) this week to discuss the importance of games media preservation. For over 20 years, Melora has been painstakingly scanning and preserving both official and unofficial art of the Zelda franchise. We go into the ways she helps keep video game history alive. We also cover all the Nintendo and gaming news such as the Kirby Air Riders Direct, Gamescom 2025, Nintendo Direct rumors, Sony raising the price of the PS5 and much more. As always, we close with the games we've been playing. In the original Zelda game, Link can earn a new sword, the white sword, once he has expanded his health to five hearts. Once Link has twelve hearts, he is capable of wielding the most powerful sword in the game, the magical sword. In much the same way, as we adventure in our jobs, parenting, relationships, and all facets of life, we should be leveling up. We should be improving our skills, learning better methods, finding lessons in defeat, making notes for future battles, and investing in tools which will help us reach our ultimate goals. From Shredder's Revenge to Mutants Unleashed, it feels like the Turtles are everywhere—does this variety signal growth, or a lack of focus? Then it's back to Hyrule for our Spotlight Game of the Week: Zelda II: The Adventure of Link.
