While this softens the blow of the 360 marketplace's closure there are still a massive amount of games being left behind. Physical copies of these games will and in some cases already have seen an increase in value. Digital only games like Rush ‘N Attack Expatriot, Rez HD, Vigilante 8 Arcade, and all of the Arcade Kinect games will be largely left to time, piracy notwithstanding. Welcome to Day Three of the FilmQuest and "In Love with the Process" Film Festival Series! Mike Pecci and Lance A. Williams are back, and they've got a stellar lineup of filmmakers at the festival ready to blow your minds. These creators are bringing you films that are controversial, inspiring, cringe-worthy, and heartwarming all at once. First up, we have Patrick Hogan, a 10-time Emmy Nominated Supervising Sound Editor for shows like "Reservation Dogs" and "The Umbrella Academy." He's not just an audio wizard; his film "Quiet! Mom's Working!" is a thrilling, action-packed, and hilarious rollercoaster. Director Subhro Das takes us on a twisted and uncomfortable journey into family dynamics with his film "What Lies Within." Kelly Edwards warms our hearts with "Box Boy," and Trevor Fre spills the beans on producing "The Handbook" right here in Utah. This episode is packed with insights into making actors comfortable on set, the underappreciated art of sound in film, why Utah is the ultimate location for your movie, the importance of working with an intimacy coordinator, and the secret to success through filmmaker bonds. Strap in for a fantastic time with Mike and Lance as they continue their adventure at the FilmQuest Film Festival. You won't want to miss this episode!

Hey everyone! We're back, this time with a much shorter show than last time, but not to say that we don't have plenty to talk about. Nbz kicks things off with The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword HD, marking the first time in 10 years that he has revisited this classic. Bally and Nbz have both been checking out Death's Door, the recently released isometric action game from Devolver and Acid Nerve. Nbz has also started on The Great Ace Attorney Chronicles as this beloved series makes a grand return, meanwhile Bally has been playing Part Time UFO a cool little puzzle game from HAL, the creators of Kirby and TNL favourite Box Boy! Nbz closes out with a trio of games in Jelly Boy, Flatland Vol. 2 and Gunstar Super Heroes. Phew that was a lot of video games. After the break we hit up the email inbox and answer questions on game words that we mispronounce and whether fans should worry about games selling well. Today, Smith gives us our first look at our special world from a dad’s point of view. This was fun, and I can’t wait to have more dads on the podcast. Their struggles are sometimes different, and their insight often sheds light in ways you didn’t expect.I have to give a special shout out to this guy. This podcast was all his idea. If not for him, we wouldn’t have this platform. And without his encouragement, I would have never had the courage to take the first step. And thank you to all of you who continue to text, call, and message letting me know just how much value you get from Collective Light. Welcome to Dev Game Club, where this week we conclude our series on the 2005 squad-based shooter Star Wars Republic Commando, on which both hosts worked. We talk about some of the difficulty unevenness of the game, some of the process of building the game, a bit about enemy and squad AI, and especially how we came to differentiate the characters and inject some humor. Dev Game Club looks at classic video games and plays through them over several episodes, providing commentary. Sections played: Through Kashyyyk Issues covered: leaving characters behind, the length of development and how it changes your longer-term plans, having George give feedback on your game, the overly grim version of the game, ignoring feedback given once, the difference of dealing with George vs dealing with LF Licensing, caring more about story than lore, the huge impact on production, the value of the feedback, being on each side of the question of whether to push out a schedule, having Robin Williams suggested for the game, needing the balance of comedy, the use of gallows humor, the impact of voice on a game's budget and schedule, RPGs and text vs voice, the additional cost of well-known names, finding actors more in line with characterization, enriching the script by specificity, having an off-site to plus up the game, looking at the game during in production, facilitating discussions, getting ideas from everyone, stepping back from development to get enough distance, going to Kashyyyk, incorporating another film character in General Tarfful, seeing the ragdoll bug, climbing up to the treetops, fitting this game on a Xbox, having good technology internally, being unclear about objectives, not having characters to rely on for storytelling, reusing enemies etc, having only two people write all the AI but carrying other engineering tasks, how you would approach this today, leveraging gaps in time to get across the bridge, delaying the pay-off to force the player to see it, the milestone process, not having enough investment in the product over the process, cutting part of the bridge level, failing a milestone and using that to improve, needing more spectacle and spit and polish, the AIs throwing grenades back and forth, leaning on the linearity of the game to make the squad seem smarter, "bread-crumbing," behavior trees, multiple path voting, AI and level design working together, finding the edge of AI, how you design for roguelikes instead, adapting to the needs of the game as they went, having a little bit of everything at the end, a notable cameo, the interviews, difficulty in games and different ways to achieve it, toy development timelines, the success of the game as a surprise, the team gift, a team delivering a solid first product, the possible follow-on titles, Delta Squad as canon, how tech could have supported the game better, Tim admits that he is a jerk, a good game with a lot of potential, figuring out how to make the game vs making the game, the strength of second titles, the greatness of the team, who gets design credit on the games, having the opportunity to work on different types of games. Games, people, and influences mentioned or discussed: George Lucas, Clone Wars (TV Show), Genndy Tartakovsky, Samurai Jack, Dave Filoni, Chris Williams, Daron Stinnett, Robin Williams, Shakespeare, Law and Order, Tomb Raider, Jill Murray, Ken Rolston, Morrowind, Oblivion, Patrick Stewart, Liam Neeson, Max von Sydow, Temuera Morrison, Ryan Kaufman, Mike Stemmle, John Hancock, Unreal, Xbox, PS2, Epic, Starfighter, Patrick Sirk, Half-Life 2, Hacky Sack, John Hancock, Nathan Martz, Remnant: From the Ashes, Harley Baldwin, Thief, TIE Fighter, Larry Holland, Reed Knight, Darren Johnson, Blarg42, Raymond Cason, BoxBoy, Curse of Monkey Island, Resident Evil 4, Mark Brown, Dawfydd, Karen Traviss, West End Games, Dylan Thomas, Jim Ward, Gentle Giant, Greg Knight, Battlefront II, Grand Theft Auto (series), Jedi Knight, Fallout (series), The Mandalorian, Dave Collins, David Norton. Welcome back to Pursuing Pixels. Sorry for the delay on posting the episode this week in lieu of the holiday. That said, with the little bit of extra time this week, we were all able to squeeze in some pretty serious gaming. To kick things off, we spend a little time (some of us, a lot) blowing away baddies in 20XX. DJ plows through Venture Kid, yet another game with heavy Mega Man influences. We dive into a trifecta of Nintendo releases, new and old, with Super Mario Maker 2, Box Boy! + Box Girl!, & Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker—all of which offer up some pretty stellar cooperative experiences. DJ finally conquers Bad North and also gets started on The Messenger. And finally, we wrap things up with Killer Queen, which is slated for release on Nintendo Switch & Steam very soon. We're also going to be veering from our original format a bit and switching to a game of the month (GOTM), as opposed to selecting a new game each week. It was proving to be a little bit overwhelming, and also ended up dictating our gaming habits. Plus, this will give anyone who wants to play along ample time to stay caught up—but who are we fooling? We're doing this for our own sanity... Games Discussed:20XX - (00:01:35)Venture Kid - (00:15:57)Super Mario Maker 2 - (00:22:55)Box Boy! + Box Girl! - (00:38:35)Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker - (00:51:42)Bad North - (01:02:36)The Messenger - (01:08:17)Killer Queen - (01:09:35)GOTM Discussion: (01:17:28) *July's GOTM is Bloodstained: Curse of the Moon. Feel free to play along with us and join in on the discussion for our last episode of the month. Thanks for listening. On this week's surreal episode of THe Gaming Blind Podcast, Samuel thinks up the weirdest crossover ever, gets violently ill, and sort of advocates games as a service (and feels gross saying such a thing) while talking about Nintendo Switch puzzle platformer BoxBoy+BoxGirl!
As Aadil's still in Canada we discuss the take over of Wild Rose Brewery by the larger Candian brewer Sleeman Breweries (Sapporo), Lucy dives into Void Bastards and Ben has played a load of games including Tabletop Gods, Devlover Bootleg, Gato Roboto and Observation. Father's Day: like the movement of the tides and the appearance of a leap year, you never know when it's going to arrive! Welcome to our third excursion into video game dad-hood, complete with everything your dad loves: conspiracy theories, walls, whippersnappers, sick poses, monthly magazines, amusement parks, and horse children. Greg adopts all the other hosts. Giovanni describes how a square dad sacrifices his family in order to save the world. Colin follows a family line of dads to their logical origin. Dave asks Bowser "Do you know where your children are?" and Bowser shrugs. You can tell us your favorite dad jokes over on Facebook and Twitter. Send us your favorite dad-centered conspiracy theories on YouTube or Twitch. Lastly, why call us all a diminutive name over Apple Podcasts, so you can finally become our dad. Games Discussed include: Yoshi's Crafted World, The Gears of War series, Bye-Bye BoxBoy! and Red Dead Redemption 2 Show Notes: Wall man from Perfect Dark Zero
