In this episode, Erin and Hannah kick off a new series titled Ready, Set, Think! “Thinking It Through” is the first discussion, in which Erin and Hannah present a compelling case for rigorously analyzing the way we think about important matters. People in the United States have a long way to go to achieve the social and economic gains that other countries, such as the Nordic ones, have. The big question is - how do we make those gains? We discuss that with George Lakey, a lifelong activist, academic and movement strategist. On the one year anniversary of the Charlottesville rallies, we explore the question of how to confront the overt racism in the US and how to dis-empower white supremacists. We also cover current news and upcoming actions. For more information, visit www.ClearingtheFOGRadio.org. Do you want to keep the conversation going? During the scripted Trump-Putin press conference in Helsinki, Finland, a US journalist, Sam Husseini, was taken into police custody for holding a small sign. Husseini, a long time advocate for exposing and breaking through the corporate media machine, hoped to ask a few critical questions of the world leaders. He speaks about the press conference, how he was treated and the state of media in general. We also cover recent news including the Mueller indictments, Russia gate, NATO, the Gaza Freedom Flotilla and the release of Ahed Tamimi and her mother. On our new program, "Thinking it Through," we discuss what a people's media looks like in greater depth. In this episode, I discuss a potentially new argument against abortion that says "If you support abortion, why does seeing it make you so angry?" where I conclude that it isn't an argument we ought to use. I think it has potential, but it needs to be fleshed out more. I also toss in some clips from a podcast I was on in December called "Thinking It Through" with Jerome Danner. I had an awesome time discussing this pro-choice article with him. To listen to that episode, click here! It's not the most amazing article, but it does argue in a way that many pro-choicers argue for their position. shownotes can be found at TheFetalPosition.com/26
