Lindsey Ewing (IG's The Prehospitalist) joins us to discuss updates and questions surrounding the EMS management of traumatic arrest. Sure, we must address the "reversible" causes, but what about ACLS/compressions/epinephrine? Which patients are exceptions to the rules? Lindsey had a tough case, asked some hard questions, and will provide solid answers—our favorite recipe for a jam-packed educational session. REFERENCES 1. Witt, C. E., Shatz, D. V., Robinson, B. R. Few people have had more access to Jensen Huang, Nvidia's charismatic founder, than Stephen Witt. In his book "The Thinking Machine: Jensen Huang, Nvidia, and the World's Most Coveted Microchip", Witt traces the company's three-decade journey under the leadership of a man he describes as sometimes “neurotic”, a founder who, despite being at the top of his game, constantly fears going out of business. And yet, his team remains fiercely loyal. He rarely fires those who face his ire. So how does he lead a company in an industry where every few years the technology is upended and replaced by something entirely new? And how does he stay grounded while working relentless hours? Stephen spoke to hundreds of people to find the answers, many of which he shares in his book and in this podcast.
We speak with Jason Witt, who is one of the featured presenters at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee this Tuesday, June 17th: "Trauma in Our Community," an event that can be attended either in person in Milwaukee or virtually. Witt speaks on A.I. (Artificial Intelligence) and how A.I. is beginning to be used in certain therapy scenarios. We also talk about how some people - including young people - utilize A.I. Chatbots for companionship. (You can go to uwm.edu/sce to find out information on how to register for Tuesday's event.)
"I'm ready to bring back gatekeeping." The New Yorker staff writer discusses how to protect the underground, experimenting with drugs and her new book, Health and Safety. Can drugs help us find meaning in music and nightlife? This is a question that today's Exchange guest, New Yorker staff writer Emily Witt, asks in earnest in her new book Health and Safety: A Breakdown. Just released in hardcover in the UK and Europe, the memoir traces Witt's life in her early-to-mid 30s. A journalist living and working in Brooklyn, she began experimenting with psychedelics and club drugs after years of living what she describes as a conservative, straight-and-narrow, middle-class life. She became enamoured with the borough's underground raves, frequenting events like the festival Sustain-Release, the party Unter and sets at Bushwick haunt Bossa Nova Civic Club, all while falling in love with an aspiring DJ and producer she calls Andrew. As the book progresses, Witt documents the growing MAGA movement in America, gun rights rallies and mass shootings. As the country falls apart, she watches her romantic relationship fall apart, too. Drugs and Brooklyn nightlife, she writes, became both an escape and a way to rearrange a world that she starts to feel no longer makes sense. Witt shares critical opinions about the underground scene's capacity to be a utopia and place of belonging in an increasingly hostile world, arguing that there should be more gatekeeping in place to protect a scene that's threatened by capitalism and the mainstream. She also interrogates what she calls "woke identity politics" in Brooklyn, the lack of change that came from the Black Lives Matter movement, empty calls for political protest that dominated the early days of the pandemic and why, despite everything, she's chosen to stay in Brooklyn for good. Sentiment about the U.S. economy and CPA decision-makers' organizations continues to decline in 2025. Second-quarter results released Thursday by the AICPA and CIMA show a rising percentage of pessimists and more concern about the affects of tariffs. To analyze the results further, the JofA podcast welcomed back Ken Witt, CPA, CGMA, associate director–Management Accounting Research & Development. In last quarter's Economic Outlook Survey, half of respondents were optimistic about their company's outlook for the next year. This quarter, that percentage dropped to 37% — and it's not the only area in which there is a decline. Related resources: n JofA article on how finance leaders are countering tariff volatility. n The AICPA and CIMA's tariff resource center. n The previous quarter's podcast discussion with Witt. What you'll learn from this episode: · The declines in domestic economic sentiment and own-company optimism. · Where optimism about the global economy stands. · Changes in the list of top challenges facing CPA decision-makers. · The “big topic” in this quarter's survey. · An assessment of the impact of tariffs on respondents' business planning. · A summary of respondents' 12-month projections for revenue, profits, and spending.

The Big, Beautiful bill has passed through the house, that's the good news. Now wait until you hear what the Senate has to so. Here we go. An Islamic extremist terrorist kills a Jewish couple that worked at the Israeli embassy as they were leaving work Wednesday night in DC. This is a horrific story and reinforces what America's position should be. Long time Fox 4 anchor Phil Witt has written a thoughtful column about hunger in KC that deserves our attention. The Royals bullpen pitches the whole game in a win over the Giants and Salvy moves up the home run list for catchers. NFL owners keep the tush push play, Colts owner Jim Irsay dies and Jacque Vaughn signs on to work with Bill Self. It's obvious Vaughn is the odds on fave now to replace Self some day.

Veel kiezers denken daar intussen heel anders over.

Training Without Conflict® Podcast Episode Sixty: Dr. Josef Witt-DoerringSSRIs, Dogs, and the Chemical Lobotomy No One Wants to Talk About - with Dr. Josef Witt-DoerringIn this episode, I sit down with Dr. Josef, a board-certified psychiatrist, former FDA medical officer, and one of the few voices brave enough to speak publicly about what SSRIs are really doing to people… and what that means for dogs. The so-called “safe and effective” narrative is crumbling. What we're seeing instead are emotional numbness, cognitive damage, and permanent changes to the brain, and not just in humans. While the AVSAB continues to push SSRIs as a behavioral fix for dogs, the evidence of harm is mounting. In this conversation, we dismantle the myth of the “chemical imbalance,” and challenge the blind faith many trainers and veterinarians have placed in psychiatric drugs. If you're a trainer, vet, or dog owner who cares about animal welfare, this is a conversation you can't ignore. For more information about Dr. Josef, check out:https://www.instagram.com/taperclinichttps://www.youtube.com/channel/UCT0HW8jp8xDuczBnO7Kg7rAIvan Balabanov is a 2-time World Champion dog trainer, Ot Vitosha Malinois breeder, trainer of Premier Protection Dogs and founder of the revolutionary Training Without Conflict® dog training system. For more information about Ivan Balabanov's Dog Training School and information on how to train your dog using the Training Without Conflict® system, check out:https://trainingwithoutconflict.comhttps://malinois.comhttps://premierprotectiondogs.comPlease like, comment, and share with your dog friends

What if antidepressants aren't the answer, but the cause of your struggles?
The microchip maker Nvidia is a Silicon Valley colossus. After years as a runner-up to Intel and Qualcomm, Nvidia has all but cornered the market on the parallel processors essential for artificial-intelligence programs like ChatGPT. “Nvidia was there at the beginning of A.I.,” the tech journalist Stephen Witt tells David Remnick. “They really kind of made these systems work for the first time. We think of A.I. as a software revolution, something called neural nets, but A.I. is also a hardware revolution.” In The New Yorker, Stephen Witt profiled Jensen Huang, Nvidia's brilliant and idiosyncratic co-founder and C.E.O. His new book is “The Thinking Machine: Jensen Huang, Nvidia, and the World's Most Coveted Microchip.” Until recently, Nvidia was the most valuable company in the world, but its stock price has been volatile, posting the largest single-day loss in history in January. But the company's story is only partially a business story; it's also one about global superpowers, and who will decide the future. If China takes military action against Taiwan, as it has indicated it might, the move could wrest control of the manufacturing of Nvidia microchips from a Taiwanese firm, which is now investing in a massive production facility in the U.S. “Maybe what's happening,” Witt speculates, is that “this kind of labor advantage that Asia had over the United States for a long time, maybe in the age of robots that labor advantage is going to go away. And then it doesn't matter where we put the factory. The only thing that matters is, you know, is there enough power to supply it?” Plus, the staff writer Joshua Rothman has long been fascinated with A.I.—he even interviewed its “godfather,” Geoffrey Hinton, for The New Yorker Radio Hour. But Rothman has become increasingly concerned about a lack of public and political debate over A.I.—and about how thoroughly it may transform our lives. “Often, if you talk to people who are really close to the technology, the timelines they quote for really reaching transformative levels of intelligence are, like, shockingly soon,” he tells Remnick. “If we're worried about the incompetence of government, on whatever side of that you situate yourself, we should worry about automated government. For example, an A.I. decides the length of a sentence in a criminal conviction, or an A.I. decides whether you qualify for Medicaid. Basically, we'll have less of a say in how things go and computers will have more of a say.” Rothman's essay “Are We Taking A.I. Seriously Enough?” appears in his weekly column, Open Questions. “Fifteen or 16 percent of the population [is] now taking antidepressants … When they've gone out and asked people who actually use these medications whether they're experiencing sexual dysfunction, approximately 60 percent of people will [affirm] it.”Dr. Josef Witt-Doerring is a board certified psychiatrist, former FDA medical officer, and director of the Taper Clinic. He treats patients suffering from post-SSRI sexual dysfunction (PSSD), and protracted withdrawal—two conditions becoming more common, and in some cases permanent, in people who have stopped taking antidepressants.“SSRIs and antidepressants are really popular drugs. Some people just don't want to believe that they could potentially cause something so catastrophic,” he says. “We should only be using these medications after we've done everything else.”In this episode, we discuss how patients can safely discontinue psychiatric medications and regain control of their mental health, and why there needs to be more awareness about conditions that arise after people stop taking their drugs.“What I saw going through all of that ... as a drug safety officer ... was essentially that we really were practicing outside of what the psychiatric clinical trials and the evidence showed,” says Witt-Doerring. “Doctors have been led astray about the drugs to the point where they overestimate the benefits and minimize the harm.”Views expressed in this video are opinions of the host and the guest, and do not necessarily reflect the views of The Epoch Times.
