What's our instinct when something good happens to us? To go tell everyone we know so that they can celebrate with us! In today's message, Pastor Ken says there's urgency to share the gospel with others because we're always one generation away from the gospel being gone forever. You must share the love of Christ with others. If Jesus has changed your life, your job is to celebrate that from the rooftops! He's saved you and loves all! Don't be the reason the next generation doesn't know the love of Jesus.

While driving, it feels unjust that people can speed and pass others or even drive and cut others off. But have you ever had that happen and seen that person get pulled over? It's extremely satisfying to see, as there was justice in an otherwise unjust situation. In today's message, Pastor Ken says, you must love your enemies even if they've done wrong to you, because God will bring justice in the end. Your hope must be in the Lord, who guides and promises to one day bring justice to all things.

Would you ever read a book from the middle and describe the whole plot of the book just from that? No, because then you wouldn't have the entire context of why things are happening! Just like how you can't take a book out of context, you can't take the Bible out of context. Today, Pastor Ken says that what you read about in Joel directly correlates to what you'll read in the New Testament. The entire Bible is a story and must be read in its entirety. You don't get to pick and choose what you want to believe in.

We open this closing chapter on the murder of Emmitt Till with the quick indictment of Roy Bryant and J.W. Milam, the individuals responsible for his brutal murder, and what David Halberstam called "the first great media event of the civil rights movement". Their subsequent acquittal and admittance of guilt in Look magazine caused tremendous outcry, led to Mamie's career in education, and influenced the actions of notable civil rights individuals such as Rosa Parks and Martin Luther King Jr. We then see the karmic justice of the perpetrators and other involved individuals, and discuss reparations and the legacy that Emmitt Till left behind; a legacy that is still felt in the United States today.

In 1960, Smith College's Professor Newton Arvin and two of his colleagues were swept up in a scandal concocted in large part as a way of shaming being queer out of existence.  Efforts to control the flow of what is erotica or smut is an ongoing crusade in the United States and in many places in the world. When those crusades are weaponized against targeted groups of people they can be lethal.  Some of you listening to this episode might think a professor at a private college is a fairly privileged person, and you're not wrong, but his homosexuality stripped away much of that privilege.  The other reason I'm sharing this story is that Newton Arvin and his two colleagues are stand-ins for the hundreds, perhaps thousands of mostly gay men who were arrested, jailed, and had their lives ruined for the offense of being gay.  The potential loss of one's freedom and profession is both unbelievable from today's vantage point and entirely possible to imagine happening again.  Please subscribe the the podcast. Chilina Kennedy is known for playing Carole King in the musical Beautiful on Broadway for over 1,200 performances. She also recently originated the Tony-award winning role of Dina on the First Broadway National Tour of The Band's Visit.
