Tolkien. Non aggiungerò che per molti è un sollievo. Non mi addentrerò nella selva oscura del dibattito fra puristi e indulgenti perché è sin troppo facile smarrire la diritta via. Non elencherò gli errori le sviste, le esagerazioni e gli aspetti intollerabili della trilogia de Lo Hobbit, così come non mi soffermerò noiosamente a sottolinearne gli aspetti canonici in una sorta di sfoggio intellettualoide da "Trova la differenza" come fossimo ne La settimana enigmistica.Basterà dire che, rispetto alla trilogia cinematografica tratta da Il Signore degli Anelli, quella de Lo Hobbit appare più stanca, più ripetitiva, come se Jackson fosse a corto d'idee; ma servirà anche ripetere che il talentuoso cineasta neozelandese sa sempre, nonostante tutto, sorprenderci anche solo con uno scambio di sguardi, un apparente nonnulla, un dettaglio accennato e convincerci che sì, un incontro cor ad cor tra lui e Tolkien comunque vi è stato, e questo è nobilmente consolante.QUESTO BASTA PER GODERSI UN BEL FILMNel terzo capitolo cinematografico de Lo Hobbit non si può non ammirare l'orrido splendore degli ultimi minuti del suo riuscitissimo Smaug o la nordica bellezza di Pontelagolungo (vista in 3D sembra fisicamente di camminare sopra le sue palafitte o di pagaiare le gelide acque di suoi canali) o di quella struggente delle rovine di Dale. Le aule scavate dai Nani nel ventre di Erebor, la Montagna Solitaria, mozzano ancora una volta il fiato, come già facevano quelle di Moria de Il Signore degli Anelli, ma (cosa più importante di tutte) entrambe lo fanno nello stesso modo in cui lo fanno le descrizioni evocative, parole senza immagini, delle pagine di Tolkien. Le panoramiche degli scontri armati sono suggestive; le location della Nuova Zelanda uniche (ma qui da ringraziare è il buon Dio); la sequenza in cui il senno di Thorin Scudodiquercia viene obnubilato dall'avidità una perla di shakespeareana potenza; e perfetto è il sugo di tutta la storia, quando Bilbo e Thorin cercano parole adatte a sigillare la storia che però non vengono e così finalmente una volta tanto un bel silenzio viene scritto nel fumo dell'erba pipa. Tutto questo basta per godersi un bel film prima di tornare all'impagabile penna di Tolkien.BATTAGLIA DELLE CINQUE ARMATE?Eppure qualcos'altro su Lo Hobbit di Jackson si può dire; qualcosa che il rombante clangore delle armi e gl'interminabili duelli potrebbero rischiare di coprire. Ci è di aiuto il titolo di questo terzo film. Tutti sanno che Lo Hobbit non è affatto una trilogia [in verità, nemmeno il Signore degli Anelli è una trilogia, ma un unico libro, N.d.BB]; per la riduzione filmica è stato però necessario scovare dei sottotitoli; e questi sono stati intelligentemente ricavati dalle pagine di Tolkien senza stonature, storpiature, caricature. La versione italiana di quest'ultimo film, però, ci ha messo lo zampino, e così il perfettamente tolkieniano The Battle of the Five Armies dell'originale in inglese è incomprensibilmente diventato (persino contro la lettera delle edizioni italiane del romanzo, Adelphi e Bompiani) La battaglia delle cinque armate. Questioni di lana caprina? Niente affatto.Le "armate" sono parti di un esercito, l'esercito di una nazione è la difesa di un popolo intero. Quelli de Lo Hobbit sono gli eserciti di tre dei popoli liberi della Terra di Mezzo (Nani, Elfi e Uomini) contrapposti a due delle orde di Sauron (gli Orchi e i Mannari, perdite totali di "volto umano"). Il loro scontro è una delle molte battaglie di cui il mito e la storia ci tramandano gesta e lutti, eroismi e disfatte; una delle numerose battaglie che Tolkien narra ne Il Silmarillion, ne Lo Hobbit e ne Il Signore degli Anelli. E non battaglie qualsiasi, ma battaglie la cui posta in gioco è totale. Prive cioè di prova suppletiva, di secondo tempo, di ricuperi. Perché in realtà si tratta sempre e solo della medesima, unica battaglia: l'ultima battaglia. Non perché poi non ve ne siano più, ma perché sono definitive per chi le combatte. Sottrarsi a esse si può, ma è come sottrarsi alla vita, alla chiamata, alla possibilità di essere fino in fondo ciò per cui si è nati.DUE STENDARDI, DUE CAPITANII Cinque Eserciti de Lo Hobbit, anch'essi, si combattono seguendo Due Stendardi che si contrappongono. Sono gli Stendardi di cui ci parla sant'Ignazio di Loyola negli Esercizi spirituali. Qui l'esercitando viene invitato a vedere la scena, a contemplare i due capitani, Gesù e Satana, che si fronteggiano, e dietro di loro le schiere di luce e di tenebra pronte alla battaglia in un eterno presente che ci fissa; e così fissato l'esercitando deve scegliere dove schierarsi, chiedendo a Gesù di volerlo tra i suoi, implorandolo di arruolarlo, pregandolo di non badare ai suoi mille tradimenti.La Battaglia dei Cinque Eserciti de Lo Hobbit è sempre, ogni giorno, ogni minuto, perché è quella di sant'Ignazio. Le battaglie di Tolkien (che detestava cordialmente la guerra e le sue malvagità) sono le nostre. Selliamo il cavallo, cingiamo la spada, imbracciamo lo scudo e caliamo la visiera dell'elmo ogni mattina appena ci leviamo, pregando di stare ancora una volta tra le fila di capitan Gesù nonostante le nostre mille vigliaccherie, e poi c'infiliamo nella metropolitana che ci porta al lavoro. La Buona Battaglia è quotidiana, i Due Stendardi si scontrano sempre e la letteratura di Tolkien ci rieduca permanentemente a questo. Potete (lecitamente) dire quel che volete dei film di Jackson, ma questo Jackson sullo schermo ce lo rappresenta sublimemente.COS'E' L'ARCHENGEMMA?L'Archengemma (o Arkepietra) è la più grande gemma mai scoperta nella Montagna Solitaria, è chiamata anche Archepietra di Thrain. Fu scoperta da Thráin I detto il Vecchio dopo l'anno 1999 della Terza Era, anno in cui con molti Nani sfuggiti da Moria dopo il ridestamento del Balrog fondò il Regno sotto la Montagna.Ogni Nano la brama, come ogni ricchezza in generale. Fu trovata da Bilbo durante la perlustrazione delle aule della montagna, il quale cercò, invano, di usarla come merce di scambio per far finire l'assedio a cui era sottoposta la montagna.
