Let's be real—life is way too short and too heavy to be serious all the time! We're talking about embracing whimsy: that perfect mix of taking your job and life seriously, but definitely not taking yourself seriously. We'll chat about simple ways to lighten up, like genuinely playing with your family or finally making time for that weird little hobby you love. Whimsy isn't just a mood; it's a hack! It keeps your brain sharp, puts some distance between you and your problems, and helps you connect with people on a deeper, better level. Time to chill out, laugh more, and remember that being a little silly is a sign of a life well-lived.The Show Notes! Thanks for being a part of our podcast community! Gameweek 6 brought with it many juicy fixtures, whether that be Man City's 5-1 demolition of Burnley (Haaland Triple Captainers rejoice), Crystal Palace's dismantling of Liverpool, or Arsenal's dogged comeback against Newcastle. But none of these events can rival the miracle that was Aston Villa's victory against Fulham and Watkins getting on the scoresheet (Jiayang rejoices). Looking ahead to Gameweek 7, we consider the appeal of Arsenal players (or lack thereof) ahead of their good fixture run, before unpacking Jacob's decision to transfer in João Pedro for Bowen—bad thought process or simply unlucky outcome? Then, we start to brainstorm strategies for the Bench Boost, the last chip that we have yet to mention in depth on the Fortress. Could Sunderland offer the perfect cheap yet solid options? Finally, in our Captaincy segment, we compare Haaland (decent fixture + excellent form), Saka (excellent fixture but nonexistent form + uncertain minutes), and Watkins (excellent fixture but practically nonexistent form). Call him insane, but Jiayang may or may not be leaning towards Watkins—which may or may not be due to a pact that he may or may not have made with the devil…Follow us on Twitter: @FplFortress

As August roll on by, Caitlin taps into that timeless back-to-school vibe! You know, the itch for new notebooks, pens in pastel colors, and a reset into fresh routines... DELICIOUS. Ah, but instead of chasing supply sales, we'll be reconnecting with something even more essential: the inner child who knew instinctively how to play, rest, and ask for help!In this episode of The Neurodivergent Creative, Caitlin reflects on the podcast's journey—from its early days as Run Like Hell Toward Happy to its current incarnation—and shares why that original phrase still shapes their approach to creativity. They also talk about how joy and whimsy are our tools for creativity, self-connection, and dreaming of the future. "Children are inherently playful. Your inner child wants to play with things, even boring things, right? Like being like 10% more playful, these are things that we're born knowing how to do." - Caitlin Liz FisherYou Will Learn:Why reconnecting with your inner child helps you get back to basics in your creative practiceHow playful acts (like color-coding, stickers, or hobbies) can reduce shame and unlock new pathways of productivityWhy linear paths toward dreams rarely work for neurodivergent brains, and how to embrace meandering progressHow Caitlin's Hyperfocus Play Dates create custom, playful systems to move you toward your “happy spot in the horizon"Links for this episode:Clarity Code Summit: Quest for Your Inner Purposehttps://shop.unicornmojo.com/clarity-code-waitlist/?aff=9dd95632

On this episode of Taste Buds with Deb, host Debra Eckerling speaks with Georgia Freedman, author of “Snacking Dinners: 50+ Recipes for Low-Lift, High-Reward Dinners That Delight.” “We put a lot of pressure on dinner,” Freedman explains. You need a protein, a starch, and at least one kind of vegetable - five if you are in California. Plus, it's an important part of family life. It's a time to connect with your partner and talk to your kids. “And all of this [cooking and bonding] happens when everybody is completely exhausted,” she explains. When you reframe the idea - that dinner has to be everything - you can trade it in for a fun, family dining experience that's full of whimsy. “A lot of the recipes that I created for [“Snacking Dinners”] are either snacks that are from my childhood - or other people's childhoods - that have been bulked up a little bit to make it more meal-like,” she said. “Or foods that I really love that I made into finger foods [or] snackable foods.” Freedman talks about her early food memories, career journey, and how “Snacking Dinners” is different from her previous projects. She also shares her love of produce/salads, lots of snackable food prep tips, and her recipe for hummus topped with spiced nuts, olives, and raisins, which you can find at JewishJournal.com/podcasts. “All the recipes in this book, except for the prep ahead chapter, take 5 to 20 minutes,” Freedman explains. “Having that in your back pocket is a really nice way to let the pressure off on the nights when things don't go well, and turn dinner into something that's more relaxing and fun.” Subscribe to Georgia Freedman's Substack at SnackingDinners.com. Ozzy Osbourne has left the stage for good, and Rob and Mark are feeling all the feels, while drinking whiskey that tastes like s'mores. This episode of Whiskey@Work dives into Bardstown's new flavored release, Mash & Mallow, and asks the big questions: Is whiskey becoming dessert? Are flavored bottles a trend or the future? And can you still be metal if your favorite drink is a vodka screwdriver? (Ozzy, we love you.) It's a swirl of nostalgia, toasted marshmallows, and whiskey snobbery. Hosted on Acast. It's been a busy stretch across both coasts, and we're catching up on two weeks of Walt Disney World updates in one packed episode. The biggest headline? Magic of Disney Animation returns to Disney's Hollywood Studios in 2026! Disney has officially announced plans for a new version of the classic attraction, and concept art has already surfaced. We'll be watching this one closely. [caption id="attachment_74591" align="aligncenter" width="1920"] Meanwhile, Walt Disney World has seen a flurry of updates. After surprise previews on July 18 and 19, the Disney Starlight Parade officially debuted at Magic Kingdom, bringing dazzling new floats and an all-new original character, Whimsy, to Main Street, U.S.A. Greg was there for the early shows, and his full breakdown is in this week's video. Test Track Reopens and BDX Droids Debut Test Track is back! The attraction officially reopened to all guests, boasting updated visuals and effects while keeping its familiar design-your-car feature. Over at Hollywood Studios, BDX Box Droids made another appearance, although some performances were delayed due to Florida's summer storms. Speaking of Hollywood Studios, more construction walls are now visible. Toy Story Land now features new construction walls near the restrooms—possibly signaling upcoming infrastructure work. Disneyland Turns 70 with Celebrations on Both Coasts Disneyland celebrated its 70th anniversary on July 17 with a full day of festivities. One of the highlights? A tribute to the Sherman Brothers playing inside Main Street Cinema. Even more magical: the official Disneyland 70th balloon completed its coast-to-coast flight, landing in California just in time for the anniversary. Walt Disney: A Magical Life Opens. To mark the occasion, Disney+ released 17 new point-of-view ride-throughs, offering immersive experiences of classic Disneyland attractions in stunning 4 K resolution. It's a subtle but strong message: Disney+ is becoming the go-to source for park content. Disney+ Highlights and Rapid Fire News In addition to the Disneyland POV collection, Disney+ dropped: Zombies 4 SHARKFEST content for Shark Week A new daily news program: What You Need to Know The return of Mickey Mouse Clubhouse with brand-new episodes On the awards front, The Walt Disney Company earned 137 Emmy nominations, a huge haul across streaming and broadcast platforms. Foodies will appreciate the peach-flavored Dole Whip, which appeared on Dole Whip Day (July 17) at Disneyland. Over at Disney's BoardWalk, Greg found a unique banana Nutella dog that might just be the most unusual snack this month. Marvel and More: Trailers, Concerts, and Popcorn Buckets A double dose of excitement with the release of the TRON: Ares trailer, complete with a new Nine Inch Nails soundtrack single, and the full trailer for Pixar's Hoppers ahead of its 2026 debut. The Descendants and Zombies: Worlds Collide concert tour kicked off in San Diego, featuring stars from both franchises. And in popcorn bucket news, Greg tracked down new offerings in the parks, and the biggest popcorn bucket ever! Finally, the Fantastic Four make their big-screen return this weekend. This week at Camp Shady Birch, we're taking a wild ride... LITERALLY. Counselor Z discovers a log flume for sale on Facebook Marketplace, and baby that's just the beginning. Not to be dramatic but we suffered the ultimate bait-and-switch from an oil painting seller who yanked the art right out of our hands. We are thrashing out and lashing out in this episode, yall. And little miss U-Haul? She's in the trash. Bill Nye however... is not ;) Let's get WHIMSICAL! (sung to the tune of Physical by Olivia Newton John). This episode was mixed and edited by Kevin Betts.Want BONUS CONTENT? Liz and Sarah discuss how writing the third draft of their pilot has made them realize there’s no right way to do something creative. There are MANY right ways. In Take Two, they revisit “whimsy” and share listener suggestions of whimsical items that bring joy. This week’s tip in The Craft (& Fain) makes a scene better AND shorter — lop off the first few lines and/or the last few lines. Then they share a summer travel Hollywood Hack: buy your airplane snacks before you go to the airport. Finally, Sarah recommends the Gardeners’ Question Time podcast from BBC Radio 4. Hey everyone, just a heads up that in this episode Jessica mentions times in her life when she was suicidal. If this brings up anything for you, please reach out to someone you trust, or contact one of the support lines we’ve included in the show notes. Take care of yourselves, and feel free to pause or skip this one if you need to. This week we are chatting to Jessica Horner about neurodivergent stories. Jessica is a proudly AuDHD and disabled woman and she works as a policy advisor with People With Disability Australia. She has previously worked as a journalist at the ABC, where she focused on the experiences of late diagnosed Autistic adults across Australia and wrote, among other pieces, a long form feature article called “A Rich New Lens”. She would later be nominated as a finalist for this article, alongside her producer, for the Media Diversity Australia Award, issued by the Walkley Foundation in 2023. She has also written for ABC Everyday, ABC News, Reframing Autism, Yooralla, and others. In this episode we deep dive into how neurodivergent stories are told, by whom, and for what purpose, and unpack to impact of this on the neurodivergent community. We cover: How Jessica thinks about neurodivergence. Jessica’s experience of her neurodivergence, and how this evolved over time along with her sense of self and identity. What are stories, why do we tell stories, and why are stories important? How power dynamics become embedded in cultural stories and ways we can work to shift this. Unpacking how neurodivergent stories are told. What does trauma-informed journalism and storytelling look like? Jessica’s current hyperfixations and a personal story on how Autism can show up for her. You can find Jessica through her website, Spoonfuls of Whimsy, or on Instagram and Facebook @spoonfuls_of_whimsy Looking for mental health support? Jess and Greg Stone set out to ride around the world in 18 months. They aimed to prove that their dog gear could withstand the wear and tear of daily use while riding both on and off the road, and to raise $100,000 for a non-profit, Girl Up. Three years later, after facing injury, loss, and thousands of kilometers throughout the Americas, they've realized that their journey has become much more than a motorcycle trip. In this episode, they reflect on how slowing down, exploring, and sharing the road with their dog Whimsy has reshaped their route and lives.
The far more censored version of the award-winning and unparalleled "A Mediocre Time with Tom and Dan." - "A Corporate Time" is a daily companion and terrestrial radio show heard nationally on iHeartRadio. It's silly.
In this episode, Andrew welcomes Matt O'Mara, CEO and founder of Whimsy Intermodal and Whimsy Trucking. Matt's journey into the transportation industry began in 1994 when he worked as an owner-operator for a trucking company. When that company was acquired and its drivers let go, Matt seized the opportunity to start Whimsy Intermodal in 1996 and hired many of those drivers. Today, Whimsy has about 50 company drivers, 145 owner-operators, and 150 trucks. Andrew and Matt also cover:Whimsy's organic business growth and unique capability in handling challenging freight, the importance of finding consistency, and Whimsy's focus on execution, including how they add value beyond transportation. The significant challenges Matt ran into of implementing new TMS systems in a legacy company, the importance of team buy-in, and the eventual success of digitizing and going paperless, including leveraging AI for order entry and real-time driver coaching.Treating drivers with respect and providing robust support as the key to retention, highlighting the reason why Whimsy has a waiting list for owner-operators.The importance of transparency, leading by example and avoiding hypocrisy, and the critical role of communication, emotional intelligence, and self-awareness in leadership.Current market conditions, the lack of impact from Chinese New Year, potential tariff effects, and the critical need for robust infrastructure and processes.Follow The Freight Pod and host Andrew Silver on LinkedIn.*** This episode is brought to you by Rapido Solutions Group.
