Previously on Forgotten Tales, the Junior Adventurers began the long journey back to Candlekeep from near Neverwinter after helping a village of Locathah's defend themselves against Sahuagin barbarians. At the time they were accompanied by Scuffy, who decided to leave the Junior Adventurers, saying he needed to rebuild his life after his daughter was killed and his business destroyed in the Ale Riots of Phandalin a couple weeks back - an event he discovered was linked to the Junior Adventurers. As they traveled they received a letter from Scuffy asking to meet him at his new shop in Longsaddle. When they arrived, everything went black and they found themselves in a maniacal escape room designed by Scuffy himself. When last we left our heroes they were in a room filled with mirrors that reflected their worst memories. As Twigsy reached for a key he saw inside the mirror, the mirrors attacked! Will our adventurers escape this dungeon? Will Scuffy be avenged? Will the junior adventurers learn their lesson? The party have sought out to find the location of Gundren Rockseeker. Who previously tasked the party to carry a cart of provisions to the town of Phandalin, apon arriving to Phandalin they found the horse of Gundren was slain leaving the party to investigate the whereabouts of Gundren. From a tip that a Druid name Reidoth resigns in the town of Thunder Tree where he task the party to take care of a small problem in exchange to lead them to Cragmaw Castle.

Returning back to Phandalin, the gang decide to head to Bordon, the next city on the path to Schleem. Hoping to learn more from the library, they are also given Lords of the Alliance medallions in their quest to rid the Black Spider and his minions. Returning back to Reidoth's hut after barely avoiding defeat from Venomfang, the young green dragon protecting the ruined tower of Thundertree, Kid and Archie return to their vessels. The kid in his lamp, and Archie in a fort of blankets. As they begin their rest, Trogg spends his time performing while Moony and Reidoth enter the forest in order to teach our firbolg the mysteries behind the spirits. Entering into an ethereal-like realm, our druid is able to peer through the sky, lighting up any creature that he is able to visualize. Seeing his group in a white light, he is also able to visualize the zombies that were created from the volcano explosion decades prior in a shadow form, as well as a void of nothingness towards the town of Phandalin. With rest, the group departs after a day towards the hopeful castle of Cragmaw with hopes to rescue the brother of Gundren as well as learn more about the hidden mine and the void surrounding it.
