Today, we're climbing high—literally and historically—as we talk about the hanging coffins of Sagada. Why were they placed on cliffs? Who gets to be buried that way? And what do these sky burials tell us about how ancient Filipinos viewed death and the afterlife?

Today, we're heading to Corregidor Island — a historic site known for its role in World War II, but also for its lingering energy, eerie tunnels, and countless ghost stories. Is it just the heaviness of history, or is something really haunting the ruins? Today, we're talking about the Balete Tree — that massive, twisted tree you'll find in so many towns across the Philippines, often with stories of spirits, disappearances, and strange noises. This week, we deep dive into an 80's acid trip. Starring David Bowie (and his bulge, as an unpaid actor) and Jennifer Connelly. This movie is a childhood favorite for Courtney. A repeat flier at the Goblin King's castle. Explaining this movie as an adult, led us to a ton of questions about Jareth's suitability to care for a child, even in the short term.
Gary, a sneezy, self-proclaimed hero called the Scorpion Warrior, sets off with his flatulent donkey to retrieve the stolen Moonstone from the mischievous Goblin King.
Today, we're talking about the Aeta Exorcism — a lesser-known but powerful story about spiritual possession and traditional healing among the Aeta community. A section analyzing David Bowie, from the 15th installment of Brett's Patreon-exclusive series on Monarch films. Full description of the episode below, along with our Patreon link, if you're interested in the full episode. In this 15th installment in the Monarch series, Brett delves into the Jim Henson-directed children's film Labyrinth (1986)—a film so saturated with Monarch content that it serves as a paradigm of Monarch cinema in general. The episode opens with a close look at the career of Monarch superstar Jennifer Connelly, including two other full-on Monarch films she starred in during the 1980s: Phenomena (1985) and Ballet (1989). Additionally, Brett examines the occult career of David Bowie (who plays the Goblin King in Labyrinth); he discusses Jim Henson's collaborations with the federal government (including the CIA-linked United States Information Agency), as well as reexamining Henson's sudden death at age 53; and he uncovers some stunning revelations by an entertainment industry insider and professed victim of Monarch abuse that relate to the plot of the film. Fritz Springmeier and Cisco Wheeler devote an entire section of their Illuminati Formula book to this film, and Brett combs over their analysis, while drawing some wider conclusions about the function of Labyrinth and other 1980s Monarch films geared toward children.https://www.patreon.com/PsyopCinemaIf you enjoy Psyop Cinema, check out the Decoding Culture Foundation and Cultural Engineering Studies magazine - https://decoding-culture.com/magazine-home/https://twitter.com/CinemaPsyophttp://psyop-cinema.com/https://linktr.ee/psyopcinemathomas-psyopcinema@protonmail.combrett-psyopcinema@protonmail.com

Join The Horror Movie Maniacs Grant and Ben as they team with Marc to ruthlessly shatter Scott's cherished childhood memories of the beloved Jim Henson classic, Labyrinth! For decades, Scott has clung to the notion that the 1986 fantasy epic is a beacon of pure, innocent magic, a whimsical adventure filled with catchy songs and memorable creatures. But prepare yourselves, because Grant and Ben are here to expose the truly unsettling, often predatory darker undertones lurking just beneath the film's enchanting surface. In this eye-opening episode, we're not just re-watching Labyrinth; we're dissecting it with an adult, and perhaps slightly twisted, lens. The conversation kicks off by meticulously examining Jareth, the Goblin King, portrayed with iconic flair by David Bowie. While many remember him as a flamboyant, enigmatic rock star villain, Grant and Ben argue his true nature is far more sinister. They'll delve into his unsettling obsession with the 15-year-old Sarah, peeling back the layers of his manipulative charm to reveal a deeply possessive, almost predatory desire. Is Jareth merely trying to trick Sarah into staying, or is he actively trying to claim her, to make her his queen, bound forever to his labyrinthine domain? The hosts will dissect pivotal scenes like the "Magic Dance" and the infamous "As the World Falls Down" ballroom sequence, revealing how these visually stunning moments actually serve as potent metaphors for manipulation and psychological entrapment.Check out Horror Movie Maniacs here - https://podcasts.apple.com/gb/podcast/horror-movie-maniacs/id1688748986?uo=4&itsct=podtail_podcasts&itscg=30200&ls=1&at=1001l39ag&ct=uk-podcasts.co.uk

A man of many talents, Keanan Duffty is our guest for this episode. His band, Slinky Vagabond, has a new album coming out on January 14th. You can pre-order that here. He is also a fashion designer, one who has collaborated with the iconic David Bowie on his 2008 fashion line for Target. Since Keanan is a Bowie fan and collaborator, Ryan and Nicole thought it would be only fitting to talk to him about Jim Henson's 1986 film, Labyrinth. Bowie not only starred in the film as The Goblin King, Jareth, but he also wrote songs for the film.Chapters00: Intro to Keanan Duffty - Fashion Designer / Author / Lecturer / Rock Star9:30 Labyrinth22:21 Casting Jennifer Connelly and David Bowie27:58 Theories on Bowie Never Performing the Labyrinth Songs Love / Keanan's Bowie Collaboration36:55 The Labyrinth Soundtrack47:21 The Puppets of Labyrinth and Reception to the Movie in UK58:13 Bowie's Acting in Labyrinth1:01:58 SYL Episodes with Bowie Music and References / Bowie's Film and TV Cameos1:14:00 ClosingFor More about Keanan Duffty:Website: https://keananduffty.comhttps://www.slinkyvagabond.netInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/keananduffty/We would love it if you would join our Patreon membership, where you will get quarterly bonus episodes, early access to our regular episodes and more!
