Move #2 of Keith's bday selection is one that has haunted him since he was one of the extremely few people to view it in a cinema at the time: The End of Violence (1997).Starring Bill Pullman, Gabriel Byrne, Andie MacDowell, Traci Lind, Loren Dean, with notable support roles by Rosalind Chao, John Diehl, Pruitt Taylor Vince, K. Todd Freeman, Nicole Ari Parker, Marshall Bell, Marisol Padilla Sanchez, Henry Silva, to name but a few. A treatise on the rise and fall of the popularity of violence? The function of media in a surveillance state? A meta-commentary on Hollywood? So many things it comes close to being... Plus we discuss the pros & cons of: rippled chips, shampooing techniques, and sad Irish dog faces. +++++ Outro: Lorn performing Everything is ViolenceTheme by Professor Ping available on Bandcamp --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/zandkmoviepod/support
Happy Halloween, everybody! On this spooky edition of Not A Bomb, the “Breaking Brad” crew discusses the sequel to one of the greatest horror films of all time, Fright Night Part 2. Picking up 3 years after the events of the first film, Fright Night Part 2 finds Charley Brewster and vampire hunter Peter Vincent battling a brand new cadre of sexy vampires. Fright Night Part 2 was given less of a budget than the original film and struggled to get theatrical distribution. The critics were also harsh on the sequel and the vampire flick didn't really find an audience until it was released on VHS. Oh…and a highly publicized murder of a studio executive might have played a part in this films rough distribution cycle. Yeah, this movie had some dark things happening behind the scenes. Does Fright Night Part 2 live up to the original or has this horror franchise lost its bite? Spoiler alert: someone called this thing a bomb! You won't be able to guess who!Fright Night: Part 2 is directed by Tommy Lee Wallace and stars Roddy McDowall, WIlliam Ragsdale, Traci Lind, and Julie Carmen. Featuring several early performances by big names—Philip Seymour Hoffman, Matthew Fox, and Matthew McConaughey all make appearances, as well as the mayor of Tinseltown, Paul Dooley.

Dracula, Lestat, Angel, Nosferatu, Spike...Jerry??? While Hollywood continues to mine all vampire properties to build on the current fang mania, the 1985 cult film Fright Night was not one with the name recognition that made it an obvious choice for a remake, but with Buffy the Vampire Slayer's Marti Noxon writing, and an impressive cast including Colin Farrell and David Tennant, this unlikely remake seemed like it may make vampires scary again. But can it live up to the 1985 original in the eyes of fans, and will it appeal to new audiences? Listen to Arnie, Stuart, and Brock to find out!

Jerry and Billy would be great neighbors, were it not for all the apple cores they leave in the yard, and the bodies of dead prostitutes they take out in garbage bags. But while the rest of the neighborhood seems not to notice, Charlie Brewster realizes the truth--Jerry is a vampire. In 1985 Fright Night brought back the Vampire genre from the dead with its mix of horror and comedy. With Chris Sarandon as the evil, yet fashionable, Jerry, and Roddy McDowell as Peter Vincent, the fearless vampire killer, is this film's allure eternal, or should it have been buried in the 80's? Listen to Stuart, Arnie, and Brock to find out! Then come back to NowPlayingPodcast.com as we review all the Fright Night films, culminating with a review of the remake starring Colin Farrell!
