Three Men and a Retrospective Podcast

After E.T., Drew Barrymore could have done anything. Turns out that producer Dino de Laurentiis was about to scoop her up to be in two adaptations of author Stephen King's work. The second, Cat's Eye, is one we already covered way back at the beginning of Night Shift. But the first was Firestarter, King's borderline science fiction novel about a girl who sets fires with her mind. Join the Three Men and a Retrospective Podcast as they review Commando director Mark L Lester's 1984 adaptation of King's 1980 novel. Unsurprisingly, it's Adam's first viewing of the film. Will he be genuinely surprised? And come back next week as the boys review not the syfy adaptation as outlined here, but the 2022 Zac Effron starring film of the same name.

We're back to the fascinating world of stuntmen and daredevils this time in the cave. We are looking at two films from director Mark L. Lester which he made very early in his prolific career. We start off with "Steel Arena" from 1973 which stars several real-life daredevils as they tour the backroads of America, performing their insane stunts at county fairs. We learn all about the struggles and dangers within the troupe and are treated to a few truly memorable moments. This is a very unique film that is entertaining from the first frame until the very disconcerting ending. Highly recommended! We follow this with 1977's "Stunts" which has a bonafide star-studded cast, including Robert Forster, Fiona Lewis, Joanna Cassidy, and Richard Lynch along with several other familiar faces. This is much more of a "movie" with a plot that revolves around a series of on-set murders that all target the stunt performers. It's got a few amazing moments in it, but it falls a little flatter than the other film. We then proceed to list the various things we've been watching for fun. Please let us know what you thought of the show, and send us some suggestions for future episodes. We take a little horror break, and hit the streets for some exploitation action! And high school. Because when you think action, you think high school. But let me tell you, these teachers might actually struggle more than the gang members in the other two movies.Director Jack Hill brings us a tale of rivalries and betrayal in an all-female gang. Juvenile delinquency and exploitation trash go hand in hand, in Switchblade Sisters (1975)!Can you dig it? If you can't, then you might want to stay away from New York City in the '70s. When Cyrus, leader of the largest gang in the city, is assassinated while a truce is in place for a massive meeting of local gangs, one gang is falsely accused and suddenly on the run for their lives! Will The Warriors (1979) come out to play, in this irresistible cult classic? And then from there, I don't know what is going on at this high school, but the faculty is clearly in a lot of trouble. While the administration seemingly does nothing, a gang of punks makes the lives of the teachers a living hell! Should the Class of 1984 (1982) be expelled?
