Jules, Matt and Tom get together for the last review show of the year to talk a little bit about the very little that happened in the game, and touch on Monk's time at the Abbey so far and the imminent retained list. We've cast aside the 'lost' Hartlepool Preview recording, and we've gone straight to the review! A solid 2-0 victory versus Hartlepool at home, so Stu must be a lucky omen at Vale Park! Bezza's passed out in Benidorm somewhere, so friend of the show JJ joins us to give his thoughts on a return to winning ways, during a cold and blustery afternoon in Burslem. Dreadful defending the theme as we lose to 2nd bottom Oldham with a performance that was not consistent with the rest of the season. Jonny and Stu go through the game, work out which players can come out with any credit and how we go forward from here. We also quickly preview the Walsall game on Tuesday with the Saddlers fans fired up for once to come to Vale Park! Sponsored by Johny's Micro Pub. A draw probably a fair result after an entertaining (Well Stu thought so!) game in front of the cameras at Vale Park. Should there have been 2 reds? Is there injury concerns with Wilson, and which star shone brightest on TV? All those questions answered and more! Sponsored by Johny's Micro Pub. Plenty of cup news to discuss, with the FA Cup, Youth Cup and (Unfortunately) the pizza trophy all ongoing! Also lots of good news out there for Vale this week with articles on the club and Darrell Clarke in the national press prior to the weekends televised game. A Bradford preview then, as we take on one of the pre-seasons promotion favourites. Vale in strong form, but Bradford have only 1 in 6 and have a big following heading to Vale Park. What a weekend to look forward to! Sponsored by Johny's Micro Pub. Enjoy a socially distanced pint on St John's Square in Burslem! Inplayman (https://www.inplayman.com/) - Daily Football Betting Tips & Stats Home Choose Carpets (https://www.homechoose-carpets.com/) 30 year family business of Vale fans providing great quality and great service!
Accrington Stanley, who are they? Vales cup run starts with a convincing 5-1 demolition of Accrington at Vale Park. No Stu today as Ex Pats have no stream of the game so Bez and Jonny talk about the performance with 5 or 6 players capable of earning Man of the Match and Harry Pell's career change from footballer to high board diver. Enjoy.
A come from behind victory at Vale Park! Plenty of character and strength shown, as well as tactical nous as we go in down at half time but score 3 in the second half to cap a fine victory. Plenty of debate about the performances involved. Followed up by a quick preview of the Mansfield game on Tuesday. They're on a terrible run of form, but beat us convincingly both times last year. Is this the moment to turn the screw on an already under the pressure team? Sponsored by Johny's Micro Pub. Enjoy a socially distanced pint on St John's Square in Burslem! Brazilian goalkeeper Lucas Covolan joined Port Vale this summer at the age of 30, after a 15 year journey through the lower leagues in his homeland, in Spain and in this country where his heroics for Torquay United in their playoff final in June, secured him a move away to Vale Park and a chance to play league football under Darrell Clarke. His is a remarkable story and serves as an inspiration to us all about the importance of keeping going in search of those goals and ambitions, even when the going gets ever so slightly tough! Elsewhere, Clem catches up with Wigan manager Leam Richardson, who's also had a tough couple of years for different reasons, but is now relishing life in the gaffer's office at the DW Stadium, and football commentator extraordinaire Paul Walker, gives us his in depth thoughts on the first 4 weeks in the Skybet Championship, with his customary style and punditry perfection!
We are joined by friends of the show, Sentinel & SOT Live report Michael Baggaley and our sponsor Inplayman to look at the weeks news and preview the Vale squad. We go through the latest happenings at Vale Park with the pre-season friendly v Sheffield Wednesday, ticket sales and more potential signings amongst the topics. We speak to Matt from Inplayman (and big Vale fan!) to discuss changing up our weekly tip for the season. He's got some season bets for anyone interested too! And then the 5 of us discuss the squad and where it is a week out from the season starting. Are we better or worse than last year in each department? The league 2 predictor comp has got bigger as well! Thanks to Super Vale Abroad we will now be giving away a 2022/2023 shirt of the winner's choice, and thanks to Inplayman there's also a 50 quid amazon voucher in the prize fund, to go with the 3 pints we've offered! To join in the comp, simply send us your top 7 (in order) and your bottom 2 (in order) predictions for League 2 this season either on here, Twitter or Facebook. Scoring works as follows, if you get the team's predicted league finish spot on, you get 0 points, if you are 3 places out, you get 3 penalty points. The person with the lowest penalty points wins! We'll keep track over the season! And if you are going to have a bet, with some of Inplayman's tips, only bet what you can afford to lose! Don't be a dick! Sponsored by Johny's Micro Pub.
