New here? Start with our Start Here playlist — five episodes that will change how you think about motherhood If your daughter is heading to college and talking about rushing a sorority, this episode is required listening — for you, not her. Between the mom guilt, the mental load of managing her college transition, and the overwhelm of a process you don't fully understand, rush season can send even the most grounded mom into a tailspin. Trisha Addicks is a 30-year Rush consultant, author of The Rush Bible: Secrets to Crush Sorority Recruitment and Find Your Forever Greek Home, and was featured in the viral Bama Rush documentary. She has helped hundreds of families navigate one of the most emotionally charged processes in a young woman's college experience. And her number one piece of advice for moms? Back off — but in the most loving, supportive way possible. In this episode, JoAnn and Trisha break down everything you actually need to know about sorority rush, from how the matching process works (it's more like a two-way algorithm than you think) to how to support your daughter without accidentally making it worse. What you'll learn: How the rush process actually works, step by step — from the virtual first round all the way to bid day Why your daughter can be cut before she even sets foot in a house (and what that means) The single most important thing moms can do during rush week — and it's not what you think The biggest mistake moms make when their daughter calls crying (and what to say instead) Why sorority rush at NYU or an Ivy League is just as high stakes as Bama Rush — even if it looks different The #1 misconception about sororities that the TikTok OOTDs are getting completely wrong How to build your own support squad so you don't put your anxiety on your daughter What sorority life actually looks like day-to-day (hint: it's a lot more than parties) Why listening — not prepared questions — is the skill your daughter needs to practice before rush Trisha's biggest reminder for moms: "This is not your journey. It's hers. All you want is for her to find her people — and it doesn't matter what letters are on the door." There is an exciting new book out now from the nation's top sorority rush consultant, Trisha Addicks, called THE RUSH BIBLE: Secrets to Crush Sorority Recruitment and Find Your Forever Greek Home (Simon & Schuster; May 12, 2026). With a record number of 125,000+ women go through sorority rush across the country each year, Trisha's services are in demand now more than ever. If you've tuned into any of the sorority news over the past few years, you're likely already familiar with Trisha. She was the first official rush coach in the business with her consulting firm It's All Greek to Me, which now employs a 24-person team. Trisha has been featured on the front page of the Wall Street Journal and in The Cut and you'll likely recognize her from the HBO Max documentary, Bama Rush. Addicks is the best in the business, but her services come at a high price. Now, for the first time ever, Trisha is lifting the curtain on the rush process in THE RUSH BIBLE, a straight-talking, warm, and prescriptive guide for any panicked young woman (or, let's get real, her mom) facing rush. In episode 677 of the Fraternity Foodie Podcast, we find out what happened to Trisha when she went through recruitment at Georgia, how Trisha describes her work, why now was the right time to the write "The Rush Bible", how the book is different from what we see on social media, how to separate self-worth from bid results, advice for students who feel crushed when they are released, how social media has changed expectations around recruitment, what many students misunderstand about the process, whether recommendation letters matter today, whether being a legacy is really powerful or not, why authenticity is so important in this process, what role parents should play, how we can create healthier recruitment cultures, and how students can reframe rejection when it happens. Enjoy!

“Hated or adored but never ignored” rings especially true in this week's episode as Lyle Taylor steps onto the stage. Charlton fans have long held strong opinions about his departure, and now Lyle sets the record straight, finally sharing his reasons for parting ways with the Addicks. He also opens up about his outspoken views on the BLM organisation and the backlash he faced for refusing to take the knee. From teammates holding secret meetings about how to handle his attitude, to winding up opponents until Adebayo Akinfenwa was ready to explode, Lyle reflects honestly on his early career and admits he wasn't always the ideal teammate but explains how much he's learned along the way. After leaving Charlton, Lyle made the move to Nottingham Forest, where he crossed paths with everyone's favourite football club owner, Mr. Marinakis. While he hit new heights in the Championship and played a role in Forest's promotion push, his time there eventually came to a sour end.

“Parents Hire $4,000 Sorority Consultants to Help Daughters Dress and Impress During Rush” read the Wall Street Journal headline that nearly made my neck snap. As a middle-aged man whose kids aren't quite college age, I was unaware of the #RushTok phenomenon on TikTok or the Bama Rush documentary that sparked a massive fascination with the sorority rush process at the University of Alabama. Trisha Addicks is the very rush consultant referenced in that WSJ article and featured in Bama Rush. She also happens to be my neighbor, so I invited her to come over and talk about how the whole process works. I had so many questions: Who are these families shelling out $4k for rush help? Why do they do it? How does one become a rush consultant? What's the reason so many young women want to join sororities anyway? And how do you teach them the secret language including terms like PNMs, OOTD, the 5 B's, and The Machine? The conversation really put the whole thing into perspective. In a world of private trainers, coaches, and tutors, a sorority consultant is just one more third party a family can hire to help their kid navigate life. And after you hear all she does for her clients, $4k might sound like a bargain. Trisha's work and her company, It's All Greek to Me have been featured in the New York Times, the NY Post, CNN.com, NewsNation, UK Daily Mail, and many more.
