Editor: My name is Michael Parrish. I, like many others, live on a meager disability income. A local vet clinic recognizes this and charges far less than any other. The doctors are terrific, and the staff are too. I have ten stray cats that no one wants so their feeding and housing are solely mine. They've dug their sharp little claws into my heart and refuse to let go. By the way, I was never a cat person until they kept showing up here. Their trust and love is hard-earned, unlike dogs, which I love also. Animal Crossing Veterinary Hospital...Article Link
Host Craig Larsen talks with Kim Winn and Pamela Davis from the Salmon Senior Center spotlighting Andy's Animal Hospital.
Do you end up with a wooly ball of anxiety every time you have to go to the vet? I do. In fact, we've been having to go to a lot of appointments lately as arthritis has set in with the knee Bella had TPLO surgery on last year. Now … we adore our general practice vet here in Spokane Valley but if Latah Creek Animal Hospital was a little bit closer, I would be seriously considering a switch. Based right here in my town, Spokane, Washington, Latah Creek is a fear-free clinic. I've been following their Instagram account for a while and I just love the energy that comes out in their posts: informative, educational, kind … I reached out for a chance to interview the top dogs there and clinic owners Jessica Osborne and Dr. Megan Bauer couldn't wait to share the good word of fear-free veterinary practices. We talk about this innovative approach to reduce stress and anxiety for pets during vet visits and how Jessica and Dr. Megan create a calm environment for both stressed-out animal and stressed-out human guardian. The asterisk in the title of today's show isn't mine; it's in the title of the book I'll be discussing with the one & only Joan Walsh today: CORPORATE BULLSH*T: EXPOSING THE LIES AND HALF-TRUTHS THAT PROTECT PROFIT, POWER, AND WEALTH IN AMERICA.Joan wrote the book with two co-authors-- progressive billionaire Nick Hanauer (who I've long wished to interview) and founder and executive director of In the Public Interest Donald Cohen (who I have interviewed before). Joan, of course, is now national affairs correspondent for THE NATION, who's been writing about the news from a progressive perspective for years. (She's also, like me, a mega Springsteen fan!)Joan will join in at the 30 minute mark. Until then, I'll recap the latest news, including what, if anything, we're hearing from inside the courtroom where TFG's eldest spawn is testifying today. And I may tell you about our morning at the Emergency Animal Hospital this morning. #notfun

The website says in big letters "Fear Free Certified," so I needed to find out. I am talking about Hoffman Animal Hospitalon the Broadneck peninsula which has been around since 1992. We spoke with Dr. Carrie Muller who is the Medical Director and I quickly found out that veterinary medicine has changed drastically and this practice treats your pets more like a loved relative than anything else. From the color of the paint on the walls, to the absence of steel tables and white robes. A fascinating discussion with a doctor that will undoubtedly make your beloved pet (and you) feel very comfortable! Have a listen!
