He has been capped 29 times by Northern Ireland and played for 20 clubs in England, Ireland, Scotland and Wales.Jones was born in Derry, Northern Ireland and moved to Manchester with his family at age 13. In his late teens, he played for Chadderton in the North West Counties Division One[5] before signing for Blackpool in July 1995.[6] After spending time playing for Blackpool's youth and reserve teams, he signed for Bury on a free transfer in July 1996. Unable to settle at Bury and frustrated by the lack of first-team opportunities, Jones decided to move to the Republic of Ireland and sign for League of Ireland side Sligo Rovers in July 1997, stating that Rovers manager Nicky Reid's offer of a full-time contract was what ultimately made up his mind.On 30 August 1997, he made his debut for The Bit o' Red in the league match against Bohemians, scoring just before half-time in the 2–2 draw at The Showgrounds. He spent almost two seasons with Sligo and won the League of Ireland Cup after playing in the final against Shelbourne in February 1998. Overall, he played 46 games and scored 6 goals for Sligo before moving to Bray Wanderers in January 1999. Jones made his debut for Bray on 22 January, playing in the 0–0 league draw with Finn Harps at Carlisle Grounds. Later that year, Jones was homesick and moved back to England, later having a brief spell with Northern Premier League side Chorley where he played in the last four games of the season for The Magpies.

Charlie is joined by Kyle to unpack a wild weekend and a landmark week. We start at the Coventry Building Society Arena, where Coventry City thrashed QPR 7–1 and, hours later, confirmed they've bought the stadium—what from that performance actually travels to next Saturday, and how does owning the ground change matchday revenue, planning, and control? Then it's down to League Two: why Walsall's clean, grown-up 1–0s feel like a platform and what stops last season's post-Christmas dip from repeating. We finish with Deadline Week triage: one club in the Championship, League One and League Two that still must add a starter—and how you avoid the classic late-window panic buy.Grab a brew, hit play, and tell us the one signing your club still needs before the shutters come down. This Podcast has been created and uploaded by EFL Hub. Jonny Drury and George Bennett return with the latest episode of the Bescot Beat! Again they are joined by Harley Sheldon of the Yellow Ribbon Podcast - with more of a positive discussion on the table this week. The Saddlers bounced back to beat Salford and record their first home clean sheet of the year. The trio look at the new striker Daniel Kanu, Walsall's impressive backline, what was different, and predict what will happen between now and the end of the transfer window.
The Mariners were on the road twice this week and followed up an impressive win at last seasons beaten play-off finalists Walsall in mid-week with a hard earned point at Accrington on Saturday. However, the guys begin by discussing what might have been in the latter game, Town again rueing missed chances and another missed penalty before allowing their lesser opponents a route back into the game. Is the lack of a ruthlessness becoming an issue for the team or is it a good sign we're creating chances consistently? The panellists then revel in the resolute Walsall win and another MOTM performance from fans favourite Kieran Green. In Part Two, Keane Frayney from the ‘Talking Devils' podcast joins the show to help preview Grimsby's 2nd round Carabao Cup tie against Premier League giants Manchester United on Wednesday and rates Town's chances of a potential upset…If the kids are united? Grimsby kept up their unbeaten start to the season with two more home wins this week, first putting Shrewsbury to the sword in the Carabao Cup and then beating Newport in the league with goals in the very first and last minute of the game bookending another confident display. The guys start by discussing the strength and depth of the squad, the pleasing impact fringe players and substitutes are starting to have and how missing that clinical edge nearly came back to bite us on Saturday. Talk then turns to stand out individual performances, such as that of match winner Kieran Green who is the physical embodiment of the teams never say die attitude and then the small matter of drawing Man Utd in the second round of the cup! In Part Two, EFL pundit Ed Walker joins the show to help preview The Mariners next two games against Walsall and Accrington and then gives his opinion on how Artell's men have started the campaign, which Town player he is most excited about and which teams in League Two have impressed, disappointed and surprised him the most so far. +++ Hosted and produced by Chris Mills with guests Paul Savage, Sam Allen and Ed WalkerSubscribe to our mailing list for weekly bonus content - https://mailchi.mp/41dfa5ea31ac/view-from-the-findus Order our first ever VFTF merchandise, a unisex t-shirt, via our website - https://viewfromthefindus.wordpress.comFollow us on X or Instagram; the handle for both is @VFTFindus or get in touch with the show via email - viewfromthefindus@gmail.com Supported by Message in a Bottle - https://www.miabcleethorpes.net or @miabcleethorpes Intro / Outro music - "Weakness" by The Last Of The Wonder Kids - Listen on Spotify Artwork - Alex Chilvers - https://alexchilvers.co.uk or @alexjchilversGraphics - Liam McLennanPhotography - Jon Corken+++ Hosted on Acast.
