Interview with David Greelish, Apple Lisa Documentary Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/FloppyDays Sponsors: 8-Bit Classics Arcade Shopper FutureVision Research Hello, and welcome to episode 150 of the Floppy Days Podcast for April, 2025. My name is Randy Kindig and I'm the host for this journey through the annals of home computer history. This month, I'm going to step aside from the ongoing series of episodes about the HP 97/67 programmable calculators to bring you a timely interview with a good friend about an interesting topic. That friend is David Greelish, a computer historian, and the topic is his recent publication of a film documentary about the Apple Lisa, called "Before Macintosh: The Apple Lisa". David tells us all about the film, why he produced it, why the Apple Lisa was an important part of home computer history, who he interviewed for the film (he had some amazing guests) and much more. It's a great film and should interest a lot of the listeners, so please consider going out and purchasing the film in order to support David's efforts. For upcoming shows, we do have one more episode in the series on the HP97 with HP calculator historian Wlodek Mier-Jedrzejowicz. I will air that episode very soon. In this special deep-dive episode, we explore the extraordinary story of Gilbert O'Sullivan, the iconic Irish singer-songwriter who defined an era of melodic, thoughtful 1970s pop. From humble beginnings in Waterford, Ireland, and later Swindon, England, young Raymond O'Sullivan dreamed of creating music that was both emotionally honest and musically timeless. What he achieved went beyond even his wildest dreams. We trace Gilbert's transformation from a quiet, artistic boy into the global pop sensation known for timeless hits like “Alone Again (Naturally),” “Clair,” “Get Down,” and “Nothing Rhymed.” Along the way, he invented a persona all his own—complete with a schoolboy haircut, flat cap, and short pants—that helped him stand out in an industry dominated by glam rock, heavy metal, and psychedelic bands. His look was quirky, but his sound was grounded in elegant piano pop and biting lyricism. He wasn't chasing fads—he was creating his own lane. We'll look at how Gilbert's early influences—from Buddy Holly, Jerry Lee Lewis, and Fats Domino to the British Invasion bands like The Beatles and The Kinks—shaped his unique sound. You'll hear the story behind his breakout moment, how he almost gave up before finding success, and why “Alone Again (Naturally)” became one of the most impactful and controversial pop ballads of the '70s.We also dig into the often-overlooked second chapter of his career: the legal battles, the fight for artistic control, and his ongoing legacy as a fiercely independent songwriter who continues to tour and release new music decades after his biggest hits.Whether you're a lifelong fan, a 70s music aficionado, or just discovering Gilbert O'Sullivan for the first time, this episode is a heartfelt and eye-opening journey through one of pop music's most compelling careers.
Dead and buried on Friday, back to life on Monday! It was an Easter miracle for The Mariners as they just about stayed in the hunt for a play-off place despite a thumping home defeat against Swindon and relinquishing another 2-0 lead to draw at Port Vale. The guys begin by picking the bones out of an eventful bank holiday weekend which saw two surprising performances, albeit for differing reasons. Did Town contribute to their own downfall against a strong Swindon side and how did this latest capitulation compare to the one at Harrogate just a fortnight ago? The panel then go on to discuss Jake Eastwood and Charles Vernam's recall to the starting XI at Port Vale and what impact they may have on the remainder of the season. As well as all of that we also have, not one, but two guests on this week's episode. First, stand up comedian and TV star, Ivo Graham gives his thoughts on the Swindon game before Kristine Green, Community Projects Manager of the GTFC Foundation and the first ever female board member at Blundell Park, tells us about all the good work going on behind the scenes at the club. And there might be an exciting pod announcement thrown in there as well so stay tuned…!+++ Hosted and produced by Chris Mills with guests Sam Allen, Adam Howard, Kristine Green and Ivo Graham.Subscribe to our mailing list for weekly bonus content - https://mailchi.mp/41dfa5ea31ac/view-from-the-findus Find all the latest VFTF news, archive episodes, written articles and panelist bios on our website - https://viewfromthefindus.wordpress.comFollow us on X or Instagram; the handle for both is @VFTFindus or get in touch with the show via email - viewfromthefindus@gmail.com Supported by Message in a Bottle - https://www.miabcleethorpes.net or @miabcleethorpes Intro / Outro music - "Fight The Feeling" by Kid Spirit. Jonny had a chat with Eintracht Frankfurt legend Jan Åge Fjørtoft about the huge second leg of our Europa League tie and also that goal for Swindon in 1994!

Fyfie is live in Swindon with tonight's panel talking about the lunchtime KO vs Bradford and all the latest news from SN1.
A true entrepreneur, Mark Neale always knew he wanted to build his own business. After a few early ventures in retail, he founded Mountain Warehouse in 1997. From opening the first store in Swindon almost 30 years ago, Mark has led the company through nearly three decades of change - navigating the rise of e-commerce, international expansion and the unprecedented challenges of a global pandemic. In this episode of Inflexion Point, Mark joins Inflexion Partner Tim Smallbone, to share the journey from those early days to becoming a global outdoor retail brand, reflecting on the pivotal moments, lessons learned, and what it really takes to scale a business.
In Danny's absence Lee is joined by Jack Downes AKA DonsVlogs. They start by talking about the 1-1 draw away to league leaders Walsall. They discuss how the game played out, who was at fault for the free kick and why did the wall jump out of the way? they discuss the 2-1 defeat to Swindon, how can Wimbledon throw away so many points away in the last 10 mins and from winning positions. Did Jackson get the starting line up all wrong? does Jackson need to take the blame regarding the lack of subs or was he correct to blame the ref? After the break they talk about Matty Stevens and is 21 goals enough? some complaints from the Wimbledon faithful regarding Stevens all round game or is scoring goals all that matters? Should we be building the team around him? or are the fans correct and he needs to do more? Lee then asks the important question, after 3 years in charge if we were to stay in League 2 would that signal the end for Johnny Jackson? They finish by previewing another massive game at home against Harrogate. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

Danny returns and is joined by ever present Lee Finch and they are joined by guest Joe Healy. Joe explains how a South London born and bred Englishman ends up living in Wales speaking fluent Welsh. He also explains his Wimbledon FC/AFC Wimbledon history. They talk about the Barrow game and how it felt like a defeat from being 2-0 to drawing 2-2, the frustrations they have with Jacksons tactics, subs and words after but also they discuss the positives. They also speak about the form of our captain, it has dipped but why? is it due to tiredness, is it his age creeping up on him or traveling from Swindon having an impact. They discuss the season renewals that have gone out, no DD option for early bird and prices going up. Is this just the price of being fan owned? or are the club squeezing the most loyal fans to much? are customers paying on the door more important now as they could bring in more money? It does seem we are at a crossroads. They finish the episode previewing the massive games coming up against Walsall and Swindon, they also give some Fletcher Fabrications predictions. Miljonjakten lever vidare i Stryktipspodden!

Swindon Church's homegroup-based vision offers a return to the biblical foundation of church life, emphasising discipleship, fellowship, and authentic faith over cultural or Sunday Christianity. By rejecting passive religious traditions and prioritising daily spiritual growth, this vision encourages deep community, accountability, and mission-driven faith. As society moves further into an era where institutional religion is losing influence, churches like Swindon Church provide a compelling alternative: a vibrant, engaged, and transformative Christian community that reflects the heart of the early church.
It's Ed and Simon / Hwyligan on duty, discussing Friday's defeat to Swindon (and last weekend's at Vale). Today, on the More Cheese Less Whiskers podcast, We are talking with Steve Light. Hearing his journey from web designer to Swindon's prominent mural artist demonstrates the transformative impact of rediscovered creativity. After a twenty-year hiatus, his return to art during lockdown has resulted in over 25 exhibitions and Swindon's largest mural, bringing vibrancy to the community. His figurative expressionist style, influenced by Jean Dubuffet and Jean-Michel Basquiat, now adorns a converted post office studio where he creates works that challenge traditional artistic boundaries. Light's practice spans from street murals to gallery exhibitions, proving art's versatility in modern spaces. Through initiatives like the Red Cliff Collective and collaborations with local musicians, Light exemplifies how artists can engage communities while maintaining creative integrity. His work continues to reshape Swindon's visual landscape, making art accessible to all residents. Summary: 1. I introduce Steve Light, a mural artist from Swindon, who shares his journey from being a shy child with a love for art to becoming a significant figure in the street art scene of his hometown. 2. Steve discusses a discouraging experience with an art tutor that led him to abandon art for 20 years and how he humorously hints at a connection to the mysterious artist Banksy. 3. We explore how Steve reignited his passion for art during the lockdowns, transitioning from web design to a full-time art career, and how he secured a studio in a repurposed post office. 4. Steve describes his artistic style as figurative expressionist, drawing inspiration from artists like Jean Dubuffet, Keith Haring, and Jean-Michel Basquiat, and his aspirations for larger-scale works. 5. We delve into the intersection of art and commerce, discussing how artists can balance creative pursuits with commercial opportunities, and the role of art in branding and environments. 6. The episode explores the concept of street art collectives and creative collaborations, highlighting the impact of such initiatives on local communities and how they can elevate artists' reach. 7. We discuss the potential for forming a self-appointed art collective, drawing parallels between the art and music industries, and the opportunities for multidisciplinary collaboration within a collective. 8. Steve shares personal inspirations, including his love for 90s hip-hop and 80s bands, and discusses the potential for local initiatives, such as mural projects and designing for restaurants, to engage communities. 9. The conversation touches on previous collaborations, like painting a suit for a musician performing at Glastonbury, showcasing the value of leveraging local talent and creative synergies. 10. The episode concludes with ideas on creating innovative art projects, like permanent outdoor exhibitions, and the transformative potential of art in both individual careers and community development.
