Whit Fosburgh of the Theodore Roosevelt Conservation Partnership joins me from the floor of Pheasant Fest with insights into his organization, how they help us get more and better access to hunting ground, and gives us an insider look at government. It's a dirty job, but his group is in there fighting for us daily. We go way back to the early days, and find out what's happening in the halls of Congress right now that will affect our hunting. You share your training goals for the weekend, how many of us give our bird dog a vacation, and the "Handle It" dog training segment encourages you to let your gear take the heat when it comes to correcting your dog. In this episode I'm joined by President and CEO of the TRCP ( Theodore Roosevelt Conservation Partnership) Mr. Whit Fosburgh. Whew! What a great discussion we had.Lately, I've really been thinking about all the different conservation non-profits. (NGO's) Let's be honest, there are A LOT of them. Let's be more honest. Sometimes it's really hard to discern between who's doing what and where. While we're being honest, I'm willing to bet that the majority of license buys are unaware to most of the NGO's let alone what they are up to and how it effects their own concern from a hunting, fishing, access standpoint. In this episode Whit and I not only cover the history of the TRCP, we also go over why it, and others like it are so important. We cover the challenges that are being faced head on on a daily basis. How some of those challenges have been neglected over the years, not necessarily maliciously but more so just an afterthought. But.. It's not to late. We cover the importance of being involved, what can each individual do, and how little time it actually takes to have an impact. I believe we're living in a time to have the most positive impact then any other time before with social media at our fingertips. With hunters and maybe more importantly non- hunters just a "click" away. A positive message followed by sound education can be profound. This episode is just that. Some topics covered.History of TRCPTRCP's top 10 initiatives for 2022 Land and Water Conservation FundPublic AccessCWDAnd much, much more. As always we appreciate you taking the time to listen any feedback is welcomed. Hit "like" and if you feel it's worthy of "sharing" please do so. Hope you enjoy it!

TRCP Western Media Summit, Bozeman, MT: What You Should Know about the #TRCPSummit: TRCP hosted their annual Western Media Summit in Bozeman, MT this week and East to West Hunting Podcast was there. Listen to this week's 30 minute podcast to get an overview of what you should know about CWD, the 2018 Farm Bill, and gaining access to 9.52 million acres of our public lands that are currently land-locked and inaccessible. Chronic Wasting Disease: Chronic Wasting Disease has now been detected in 25 states across the US and has the potential to devastate deer herds, our hunting legacy, and ultimately conservation & conservation funding. Here are 5 facts worth your consideration: 1. CWD is transmitted through protein substances called prions which are not viruses, bacteria or living matter 2. CWD is a neurological disorder that is best described as looking like "Swiss cheese in the brain" 3. Prions can remain in soil, vegetation and the food chain for up to 16 years 4. CWD is difficult to detect in living animals until its too late - symptoms can take up to 1.5 years to reveal themselves 5. You can do your part by not transporting high risk deer carcass parts like brain and spinal cord matter across states or from regions where CWD is known to currently exist. That's how many acres of America's public lands are currently locked out with no legal access to the public. TRCP and OnXHunt Maps collaborated on a GIS software technology project to break this down by state and to create an inventory of prioritized projects that can be unlocked using key funding tools like the Land & Water Conservation Fund (LWCF). On Episode 23 of Beyond the Kill.FM Adam is joined by Whit Fosburgh, President and CEO of the Theodore Roosevelt Conservation Partnership (TRCP). On this episode Whit and Adam cover the history and the incredible breadth of topics and issues the TRCP is focused on. This organization is INTEGRAL to the future of hunting and fishing for generations to come. From conservation funding to land access and freshwater and saltwater issues, and the protection of public lands from industrial misuse the TRCP is the tip of the spear in the halls of power for sportsmen and women. Whether you love or hate government, the TRCP is neck deep in the politics and policies that allow our conservation dollars to be put to work. Without the TRCP many of the organizations we jump to support like the WSF, RMEF, MDF, and many others wouldn’t have the ability to turn their “on the ground” conservation plans into action. If you consider yourself a “hunter-conservationist” this is a podcast you MUST listen to. Whit’s vast experience and incredible knowledge surrounding the inner workings of conservation policy makes for one of the more powerful podcasts we’ve featured on this highly complex topic to date.
