He runs twice as far as you walk ... and he does it barefoot. Taking care of your bird dog's feet ensures a great day in the field and a long, problem-free season. I'll share advice from veterinarians and my own and friends' experience preparing our dog's feet for hunting season. I'll offer my personal perspective on "toughening" pads, and what to use for "boots." And once you're out there, I'll outline some things you should do before, during and after the hunt to keep him firing on all eight cylinders and all four paws. Identifying injuries, when to call it a day, what to watch for, how to fix common problems are all on the table. We'll talk about keeping pads supple, nail trimming, and more. Viewers and listeners share the mileage they'll drive on their first-day-of-the-season hunt, and "Fix It" shows you where to look if you want to hit more birds in the field.  And it's all brought to you by: Mid Valley Clays and Shooting School, CableGangz, TrulockChokes, Pointer shotguns, USA Clay Target League, Purina Pro Plan Sport and FindBirdHuntingSpots.com.

In this episode, Wayne Pollock (Founder of the Law Firm Editorial Service) walks through seven tips for writing conference recaps and takeaways that are so good, your readers feel compelled to share them with their colleagues. Those tips are: 1. Use a “me and/or them” mindset to filter what matters to you versus your target audience; 2. Apply the “O-K-So?” framework to your descriptions of the presentations you attended and are reporting on; 3. Brevity over bulk; 4. Share valuable materials you received at the conference, such as presentations and whitepapers; 5. Capture the conference "vibes;" 6. Write a compelling thematic headline; and 7. Like deliveries from the milkman, people wearing suits and dresses whenever they left their homes, and smoking/non-smoking sections in restaurants, attorneys writing their own thought leadership articles is a relic from yesteryear—and should follow the same fate as those once-upon-a-time staples of everyday life.In this episode, Wayne Pollock (Founder of the Law Firm Editorial Service) walks through four reasons why attorneys should not write their own thought leadership articles—besides the issue of them having to invest non-billable time to do so:1. Attorneys know how to write for the practice of law, not for marketing and selling the practice of law.2. Attorneys approach thought leadership from a legal perspective, not a marketing perspective.3. The overwhelming majority of attorneys don't understand best practices for thought leadership.4. Most attorneys will never get better at writing thought leadership because they do it so rarely and as an add-on to their core legal practice. ===Learn more about Wayne Pollock at https://www.linkedin.com/in/waynepollockLearn more about the Law Firm Editorial Service at https://www.lawfirmeditorialservice.comLearn more about Copo Strategies at https://www.copostrategies.com===Do you want to elevate your thought leadership, distinguish yourself from your competitors, and never again be your target clients' second choice? Our Legal Thought Leadership Accelerator is a FREE five-day educational email course, in which you will learn five advanced principles for conceptualizing and crafting revenue-generating legal thought leadership that positions you to be your target clients' top choice over your competitors (and the one the media regularly calls and conference organizers regularly put on stage).Learn more: www.LTLAccelerator.com

Describing HR's greatest impact as creating and protecting value, Tim discusses what we should carry forward from COVID - the deeper connection that came from seeing each other as whole people - and why HR is fundamentally a team sport requiring connection and community. He introduces the "future-back" approach: start with a detailed vision 5 years out and work backwards to identify the scaffolding needed today. Addressing AI and youth unemployment, Tim emphasises intentional choice – that it's not a shift being done to us – that we have agency. He discusses access to employment programmes including a prison-to-work scheme that reduces reoffending from 60% to six. His wish for you: Be a student - continually better understand the organisation, our society and the individuals we work with. That is HR's life's work. And look after yourself, because we must put our own mask on first. Elevate Wellbeing to a Strategic Priority Thank you to Geoff McDonald for sponsoring this episode. In 2014, he left Unilever to devote his expertise to ending the stigma of depression and anxiety in the workplace - because he knows first-hand that talking about mental health saves lives. As a business transformation consultant and co-founder of charity Minds@Work, Geoff helps organisations define purpose beyond growth and profitability, and develop holistic wellbeing strategies that unlock true performance potential. Learn more: How Geoff can help you elevate wellbeing to a strategic priority: www.geoffmcdonald.co.uk   Are you looking for your next great read that inspires you and helps your work?     Our book of the month for April is Start with Why by Simon Sinek – a powerful exploration of what separates truly inspiring leaders from the rest.   Simon challenges the conventional focus on what we do or how we do it, and instead argues that great leaders and organisations start with why – their purpose, cause, or belief. Through his Golden Circle framework, he demonstrates how the most inspiring leaders think, act and communicate from the inside out.   Drawing on examples from Apple, Martin Luther King Jr, and the Wright Brothers, Sinek shows that people don't buy what you do – they buy why you do it. When organisations are clear about their purpose, they attract employees and customers who share their beliefs, creating cultures of trust and belonging where people feel valued and motivated to contribute their best work. This isn't just about messaging; it's about building sustainable success through authentic, purpose-driven leadership.   Whether you're looking to inspire your team, build deeper trust with clients, or create a culture where innovation thrives, Start with Why offers a compelling framework for leading with intention.   Head to UpliftingPeople.com to grab your copy, and we hope you enjoy this month's Uplifting Book.

J Smiles was in Anaheim for the Alzheimer's Association Community Leaders Summit, surrounded by people who volunteer hard, fundraise harder, and refuse to let dementia be the final word. The surprising part isn't the scale of the event, it's the energy. This isn't a room full of resignation. It's a room full of strategy, laughter, and a belief that progress is real, even when it comes in tiny steps. Then caregiving interrupts everything. While she was learning about Alzheimer's advocacy and dementia research, she get a text from Zetty's caregiver about a scary symptom and a sudden drop in alertness. In today's episode, we also dig into prevention and brain health in plain language. You'll hear about Brain Health at Work, how TrialMatch helps people find clinical trials, and a powerful story from the U.S. POINTER study showing measurable improvement through lifestyle changes alone. We talk about movement, food, sleep, social connection, and health monitoring, plus why isolation is a real risk factor. And we name the urgency of reaching the Black community, where Alzheimer's hits at about twice the rate, with better awareness and participation in research. If you need a dose of hope that still feels honest, this one is for you.
