We've talked a lot of whitetails in recent weeks, and Sam has gradually shared his own hunting journey from the 2024 season. However there is one big piece of the story that has been missing, and that is the experiences of our Production Director Nick Powell. He joins Sam for this episode to take us through his hunting journey last year, and namely his encounters with a buck called "Bow Blind Buck". Without doubt the most mature buck on the property, this deer had Nick and Sam scratching their heads multiple times trying to figure out how to hunt him. Nick was the first to actually put eyes on the buck in person, and what followed was nothing short of chaotic and exhausting events for any hunter. Join us for the full story and another installment in the lengthy saga that we call "Texas Dirt". Wild creatures and wild places have always stirred me – from the first flushing pheasant that frightened me out of my socks in grandpa's cornfield to the last whitetail that dismissed me with a wag of its tail. In my attempts to connect with this natural wonder, to become an integral part of our ecosystem and capture a bit of its mystery, I've photographed, hiked, hunted, birded, and fished across much of this planet. I've seen the beauty that everyone should see, survived adventures that everyone should experience. I may not have climbed the highest mountains, canoed the wildest rivers, caught the largest fish or shot the biggest bucks, but I've tried. Perhaps you have, too. And that's the essential thing. Being out there, an active participant in our outdoor world.
