Meet my friends, Clay Travis and Buck Sexton! If you love Verdict, the Clay Travis and Buck Sexton Show might also be in your audio wheelhouse. Politics, news analysis, and some pop culture and comedy thrown in too. Here’s a sample episode recapping four takeaways. Give the guys a listen and then follow and subscribe wherever you get your podcasts. Conflict Accelerates Tech Clay Travis and Buck Sexton discuss the geopolitical consequences of the ongoing conflict. They examine the paralysis of international shipping in the Strait of Hormuz, rising global oil prices, and how extended military engagement could impact U.S. domestic politics—especially with Democrats preparing to tie gas‑price volatility to Trump’s foreign‑policy strategy ahead of the 2026 midterms. They also discuss the administration’s unprecedented stance that President Trump intends to influence the selection of Iran’s next leader following the assassination of the Ayatollah, raising questions about regime change, constitutional monarchy possibilities, and whether Iran’s military factions might accept a U.S.-favored successor. The hosts then explore historical parallels, comparing modern drone‑ and intelligence-driven warfare to conflicts such as the Gulf War and the 2003 Iraq invasion, suggesting that advances in technology have made “boots on the ground” less essential. This leads to a broader conversation about whether internal Iranian opposition could rise up without military backing and why genuine regime change is impossible unless parts of Iran’s armed forces defect. Trump's Texas Tactics Clay and Buck analyze the fallout from the Texas primary and the growing expectation that President Trump will endorse a candidate in the Texas Senate race. They emphasize how critical the Texas seat is to preserving the GOP’s narrow Senate majority and outline the broader 2026 Senate landscape—highlighting difficult Republican battles in Maine and North Carolina, as well as opportunities in Georgia. The hosts examine how a Trump endorsement, whether for John Cornyn or Ken Paxton, signals a deliberate effort to maintain Senate control ahead of potential Supreme Court vacancies. A major portion of the hour is devoted to the explosive controversy surrounding Democratic candidate James Talarico, whose far‑left ideological positions, past tweets, and public comments have become a focal point of criticism. Clay and Buck dissect his rhetoric comparing himself to biblical figures, his claims about “white skin” being a societal contagion, and his promotion of Dr. Fauci memorabilia—framing Talarico as a deeply out‑of‑touch progressive misaligned with Texas voters. They compare him to figures like Jasmine Crockett and Beto O’Rourke, arguing that Democrats continue to misjudge which candidates appeal to mainstream Texans. They also break down the Republican strategic calculus, suggesting that Trump may back Cornyn to avoid draining resources needed for more competitive races across the country. Kristi Noem is Fired President Trump has fired DHS Secretary Kristi Noem, marking the first removal of a cabinet secretary in this administration. Clay and Buck react in real time as Fox News reports the termination and the appointment of Senator Markwayne Mullin of Oklahoma as the new acting head of the Department of Homeland Security. They recount the scandals that contributed to Noem’s downfall—including reports of inappropriate spending, allegations about personal relationships, and a controversial $200 million DHS ad campaign featuring her—describing widespread bipartisan dissatisfaction after her congressional hearing. The hosts speculate on what the leadership change means for border security, immigration policy, and future DHS operations. Nerding Out with Ryan Political data analyst Ryan Girdusky, host of It’s a Numbers Game, to break down the dramatic firing of DHS Secretary Kristi Noem, who was removed just minutes before stepping onstage at an event in Nashville. The hosts analyze President Trump’s official announcement elevating Senator Markwayne Mullin of Oklahoma to DHS Secretary, noting that Noem’s reassignment to “Special Envoy for the Shield of the Americas” signals a clear demotion. The hour digs into the controversies that precipitated her removal—especially the explosive $200 million DHS ad campaign featuring Noem, allegations that she misled Congress, and her attempt to shift blame to President Trump. Girdusky adds further context about long‑simmering internal frustrations over Noem’s self‑promotion, image‑driven leadership style, and political alliances, all of which contributed to her rapid downfall. The conversation then pivots to the 2026 Senate landscape, with a heavy focus on the Texas Senate race. Girdusky breaks down why the Trump team appears intent on securing Texas early, explaining that Republicans must lock down states like Texas, Ohio, Iowa, Alaska, and Montana to maintain Senate control. He critiques Ken Paxton’s underwhelming primary performance and praises John Cornyn’s unexpectedly strong showing, attributing it to disciplined campaigning. The hosts revisit the Democratic nominee James Talarico, highlighting the avalanche of far‑left statements and viral clips that portray him as deeply out of step with Texas voters—comments about abolishing prisons, describing “whiteness” as a moral failing, redefining Christianity through progressive ideology, and advocating extreme abortion policies. Clay, Buck, and Girdusky conclude that Talarico is even more radical than Jasmine Crockett, predicting he will crater in a statewide general election. They emphasize that Democrats are misreading Texas by nominating a candidate shaped by progressive online culture rather than real‑world Texas sensibilities. Today's Headlines: State Rep. James Talarico won the Democratic Senate primary with 53% over Rep. Jasmine Crockett and will face either Sen. John Cornyn or Attorney General Ken Paxton, who are headed to a May 26 GOP runoff after neither cleared 50%. Rep. Dan Crenshaw was primaried from the right by state Rep. Steve Toth, while several incumbents were pushed into runoffs amid redistricting chaos, including Democrats Al Green and Christian Menefee facing each other and Republican Tony Gonzalez battling gun YouTuber Brandon Herrera. In other news, the Justice Department admitted it withheld 47,635 Jeffrey Epstein files after the Wall Street Journal flagged missing records. The House Oversight Committee has subpoenaed Attorney General Pam Bondi and is seeking testimony from Epstein associates including Bill Gates and Leon Black. A federal judge ruled the IRS illegally shared taxpayer data with ICE in roughly 42,695 cases. Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem, already under scrutiny over a questionable $143 million DHS contract and internal leadership turmoil, faced more heat on Capitol Hill. ProPublica reports the Trump administration is loosening intelligence-sharing restrictions, aka making it easier to spy on us, without notifying Congress. Abroad, Iran's leadership transition is intensifying, with Mojtaba Khamenei emerging as a likely successor. President Donald Trump says the U.S. is “actively considering” its role after the conflict, as the Senate narrowly rejected a measure to require congressional approval for continued strikes. Tom Cotton cruised to renomination, while Democrat Hallie Shoffner won with 77%. Texas was a little more dramatic. After historic turnout, a Dallas judge extended voting hours over polling confusion. Attorney General Ken Paxton — who's on the ballot — asked the Texas Supreme Court to block it, and the court agreed. Paxton now heads to a GOP runoff with Sen. John Cornyn after neither hit 50%. Abroad, the Iran war intensified after drones struck the U.S. Embassy in Riyadh. President Donald Trump said Iran's air defenses were “knocked out” and promised “big-scale” strikes. Sen. The MAGA movement is stronger than ever — and Tuesday night in Texas proved it. Grassroots conservatives delivered a political shockwave as Steve Toth defeated incumbent Dan Crenshaw, sending a clear message that the America First base is firmly in control. At the same time, Ken Paxton forced longtime Senator John Cornyn into a runoff, another sign that voters want fighters in Washington — not establishment politicians. Meanwhile on Capitol Hill, Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem showed exactly why she’s become one of the strongest voices in the administration. Facing tough questioning from senators, Noem stood her ground and forcefully defended the administration’s America First approach to security and immigration. Tonight on Stinchfield, we break down the Texas political earthquake and the powerful message the grassroots just sent to Washington.

Chuck Todd breaks down the Texas primary results and finds a political landscape that should terrify the Republican establishment. Ken Paxton and John Cornyn are headed to a runoff on the GOP side, but the headline number is stunning: Democrats posted a higher overall vote total than Republicans in the Texas primary, a seismic signal in what has long been the country's biggest red state. He credits Talarico's viral Colbert moment with giving him a massive boost, notes that Latino voters broke decisively for Talarico over Jasmine Crockett — who ran an unconventional campaign and is unlikely to concede quickly — and argues that a Paxton vs. Talarico general election would genuinely put Texas in play. He walks through the strategic calculus: history favors Paxton in a runoff, Cornyn has outperformed polling but a Cornyn nomination would draw less national Democratic investment in the race, and Democrats should have the budget to compete in Texas regardless — because Texas is "nice to have" for Democrats but "must have" for Republicans, and if Democrats win even once there, it opens the floodgates. He also flags Dan Crenshaw losing after failing to secure Trump's endorsement, the razor-thin two-vote margin for the state senate campaign in North Carolina, and a broader pattern of bad developments piling up for the GOP — capped by Trump stoking voter skepticism with an unpopular Iran war. His verdict: this is the worst possible start to an election cycle for Republicans, because it's easy to start a war and very hard to end one. Then, Oscar-nominated filmmaker Josh Seftel joins the Chuck Toddcast to discuss All the Empty Rooms, his devastating Netflix documentary short that chronicles the untouched bedrooms of children killed in school shootings since Sandy Hook. Seftel describes a country that has grown numb to over 100 school shootings just this year — where the reporting cycle moves on before victims' stories can truly be told — and explains how the simple, visceral act of standing in a dead child's bedroom forces viewers to feel something that statistics never could. He reveals that many parents have kept these rooms exactly as their children left them, preserving even the smell, creating what amounts to sacred spaces frozen in time.Chuck draws the parallel to the decision to show Emmett Till's open casket, and Seftel argues these painful stories must be told regardless of how uncomfortable they make us, because imagery can be more powerful than the spoken word. What makes the film's approach so striking — and so strategically effective — is what it leaves out. The word "gun" is never mentioned, a deliberate choice to avoid triggering the political reflexes that shut down conversation before it starts. And it's working: Seftel shares that a Second Amendment enthusiast changed his mind after seeing the photos of empty rooms, and even a Sandy Hook denier reached out after watching. The film's funders didn't want to make money — they wanted to make change — and Netflix's global distribution has given it a massive reach. Seftel says the conversation has to start with one simple question — "How do we keep kids safe at school?" — and that the film intentionally got better as it got shorter, stripping away prescription and polemic to let the silence of those rooms do the work.

A bizarre “Jim Carrey clone” conspiracy erupted online after his César Awards appearance, fueled by a decades‑old decoy clip and a drag artist’s joking Instagram post claiming to impersonate him. In reality, Carrey was genuinely at the ceremony with family, and rumors spiraled only because some fans thought he looked “different” in footage from the event. A California flying‑EV startup has become the latest casualty of the state’s tech downturn, laying off 80% of its workforce as funding dries up and production stalls. The company’s collapse adds to a growing wave of job cuts hitting futuristic transportation firms struggling to turn bold concepts into sustainable businesses. Reese’s founder’s grandson says some newer Reese’s products no longer contain real milk chocolate or peanut butter, calling them “gross and waxy” and made mostly of vegetable oils. Hershey denies changing the classic Peanut Butter Cup recipe but acknowledges tweaks in certain seasonal and specialty items, sparking widespread consumer backlash. Republican Sen. John Cornyn is fighting for a fifth term, with state Attorney General Ken Paxton and Rep. Wesley Hunt both arguing it's time to change things up. Meanwhile, Democratic Rep. Jasmine Crockett and state Rep. James Talarico are competing in an expensive primary of their own, as they try to make the state competitive in the general election. Texas’ Senate primary is razor‑thin. GOP Sen. John Cornyn is battling Ken Paxton and Wesley Hunt as he tries to avoid a historic primary loss, while Democrats Jasmine Crockett and James Talarico fight for a rare shot at flipping a statewide seat. Both parties see high stakes and both races could head to runoffs. A new photo of President Donald Trump sparked online buzz after he appeared at a Medal of Honor ceremony with a bright red rash stretching down his neck. The White House doctor says it’s just irritation from a “common preventative skin cream,” with redness expected to last weeks but offered no explanation of what the treatment is for. The moment adds to ongoing attention over Trump’s hand bruising and leg swelling, previously blamed on daily aspirin use and chronic venous insufficiency.
