artificialeyes.tv lit up one of the rooms at World of Wonders, Istanbul at an event Turkcell put on for its partners with a Lego theme. 8 VMS Video Mirror Units and 4 static projectors lit the cavernous conference hall. artificialeyes.tv cooked up some fresh Lego content on the spot and impressed both the client and the venue. Jean Poole got re-acquainted with ArKaos to drive the giant ShowLED Starcloth.
The launch of Belvedere Vodka in Turkey kicked off with a party at Esma Sultan Palace in Istanbul. Practically every available surface came to life with visuals provided by artificialeyes.tv and their VMS Video Mirror Unit system. Traditional Turkish sounds later gave way to Western hits and pounding house music as the hours passed, and the visuals changed accordingly without missing a beat.
Ricardo Villalobos kicked it at a banging afterhours party at Ghetto to celebrate the 10th anniversary of Soap System. artificialeyes.tv's roaming visuals projected by video mirror units onto large cobweb like "screens" hanging from the ceiling served the minimalicious bass-heavy music well. The gig which took place on the 2nd floor above the usual performance space had an impromptu, illegal rave feel to it.
artificialeyes.tv and Jean Poole tore across Istanbul in pursuit of the Tranceconspiracy open air party. Originally scheduled to take place on Heybeli Ada, the event was relocated twice before coming to rest at the Seanergy Beach Club in Kilyos. 8 VMS Video mirror Units were installed at the beachfront property. The party got underway with Ibiza staple Lenny Ibizarre. Frank E aka Koxbox and Deedrah rounded out the night. The sun was out at 05:00 sharp, ready to bake everything off the beach.
artificialeyes.tv played an illuminating role at Fatih University's Graduation ceremony at Istanbul Gösteri ve Kongre Merkezi controlling a large LED curtain with a simple laptop operated byjames ecstatic which enabled pixel remapping. The curtain formed an attractive backdrop to the singers and dancers who performed as well as literally letting the names of those being honored see their name in lights.
artificialeyes.tv's visuals and a DJ set served up by DJ Peter Hook nearly had the hopped up crowd at Babylon approximating the pogo to the sounds of Factory Records and "Madchester", England. Righteous nostalgia from the bassist of Joy Division and New Order.
artificialeyes.tv provided visuals at the KRAL Video Müzik Awards held at Istanbul Gösteri ve Kongre Merkezi. 10 projectors capable of moving projections contributed to the atmosphere and ambience of the evening. The program was graced by the presence of legendary singer and actor, Orhan Gencebay.
VJ Synesthete spotted mobile VJ, Justin Hammond, aka MC THIS at the Coachella Music & Arts Festival. His entire rig, consisting of an Edirol V4 mixer, Apple laptop, camcorder, still camera and projector, is battery powered.
Mousse T, most famous for producing Tom Jones' "Sex Bomb", DJed at Roxy to the accompaniment of artificialeyes.tv's beat-matching visuals beamed onto tulle screens or roving around the room.
VJ Synesthete performed alongside Trace Element and Laura Escudé at the second of SKYY90 DESIGN COLLECTIVE's Crosswired series at the A+D Museum. Also on the bill for the night was VJ Culture (aka Grant Davis) with Ken Gibson. Video for the series was curated by Surya Buchwald.
VJ Synesthete at the end of a 4 day visit to the Rhode Island based studio of Duncan Laurie, culminating in a session controlling artificialeyes.tv's 3L VJ application with his mind via the IBVA system. After a few mis-starts and some worry that he was terminally brain dead, some results were had. The video is a 5 am recap of getting everything up and running.

artificialeyes.tv found their stride in their second outing at Istanbul's Babylon. Their 8 VMS Video Mirror Unit installation was something to behold. AE accompanied São Paulo's DJ Patife and London's Stamina MC for an evening of Drum'n Bass.
artificialeyes.tv performed at the opening of Bunker in Istanbul. AE installed 6 VMS Video Mirror Units in the hottest new Beyoğlu nightspot. Osman Productions regulars B-Bot, Bang!, Disc Jockey Ari, and DZA shredded the new sound system with a night of crunchy electro.
AE lit the inside of their old stomping grounds, Indigo, with 4 VMS Video Mirror Units. The VMUs threw video imagery onto a bank of 12 screens positioned throughout the depth of Indigo. Dark and red was the order of the night for a show on spec with Burn's identity.
artificialeyes.tv presents LIVE CINEMA NIGHTS #4. The March installment of the monthly program featured an audio visual performance by noted musician, artist, writer, and theoretician, Paul D. Miller, performing under the moniker of "DJ Spooky That Subliminal Kid." artificialeyes.tv opened the evening, performing alongside Korhan Kaya. The interior of Yeni Melek was swathed in semi-transparent material to catch the light of 5 VMS Video Mirror Units and 2 stationary Sanyo projectors.
At a mini film festival devoted to the works of Georges Méliès, artificialeyes.tv joined their former students, Ceren Yancatarol aka Jackie the Raindrops, T. Hüseyin Kuru aka little-genie of cin düğünü and festival organizer Sinan Güldal. The video artists remixed Méliès' works and projected them with 3 VMS Video Mirror Unit systems in the main room at Peyote.
AE set up 5 VMS Video Mirror Units and 24 semi-transparent screens in Babylon for a Burn sponsored event with Telefon Tel Aviv and fellow M-Audio M-Powered Artist, Murat Uncuoğlu. The clip above is a post-produced edit of footage from the room and a capture of AE's mix.
In The month of February, artificialeyes.tv continues the exploration of the live cinema form with two renowned performers from the UK: *spark and dr. mo. These two artists have defined and participate in pushing the envelope in the live performance of audio visual entertainment both in the UK, and worldwide, performing to ecstatic audiences at acclaimed festivals such as The Big Chill and Burning Man. artificialeyes.tv Live Cinema Nights provide an environment to watch, dance, and communicate, where ground breaking examples of live visual art are combined with accessible music genres, and provides a platform for national and international artists to explore new forms of visual communication and entertainment. The historical Yeni Melek Theatre provides the perfect infrastructure for artificialeyes.tv to create unique and inspiring video installations: no two evenings are the same. Utilizing multiple layers of semi transparent screens as well as multiple projectors, every event is an absorbing sensory experience nothing like the static cinema of the last century.
With Toby Harris (aka *spark) and dr. mo in Istanbul for the upcoming LIVE CINEMA NIGHTS at Yeni Melek, an invitation from Arda of Abstre to come check out their visuals at an opening event that would feature the KLF seemed like just the ticket. But, like so many other fans, our hopes were dashed as it turned out not to be the KLF.
artificialeyes.tv whipped up a quick proof of concept for controlling Vidvox's VDMX 5 with a Sony Ericsson Mobile Phone ( in this case a K750i ) via Bluetooth. AE is hoping to get their hands on the newly released W880i for some more up to date phone action.
arificialeyes.tv trekked to Vienna to visit the offices of VMS (Video Moving Systems) to get two of their Video Mirror Units. AE got to try them out that same night at Dub Club, held in Flex.
