Its a glum rainy day and here's a mix to match. DJ Mix (Featuring: The Glitch Mob, Kraddy, ill.Gates, edIT, MartyParty)
In this week's episode, the crew is doing another deep dive in to a specific genre. This time, it's Glitch Hop! From its humble roots in the obscure Glitch movement of the 90's, to the bass music heavyweights of today like Bassnectar, Glitch Hop has certainly come in to its own. To illustrate this, Trip guides us through his experience with the genre, and shares some of his favorite tracks from different time periods, and the crew gives their reactions and thoughts on each track. If you're into artists like Tipper, Kraddy, Pretty Lights, and The Glitch Mob, this is the episode for you. If you have no idea who these people are, or what Glitch Hop is, we invite you to join us as we jump up and glitch out with Trip. First, what IS Glitch Hop? -- Start here! And, in case you weren't aware, Trip creates some Glitch Hop that has gotten some attention, in its own right. Our theme music is actually his remix of Evol Intent's "Middle of the Night", and he's had a remix he did for Krafty Kuts released on Funk and Filth's label when he was a runner up in a remix contest. One of his Glitch Hop studio mixes earned him a spot on a major show for Self Diploma in Cincinnati, Ohio. Below are some links to check out: The mix that started it all, for Trip - Special shout out to Jack Sheets (aka Mister Shifter)! “The song is about the temporary relationships we make while growing older, and learning not to regret something just because it only made sense for a small amount of time.” – Matt Hasenmuellerm We're not sure why The Millenium is hiding their faces on their promos and upcoming album cover—because their music is clear and present goodness. They can't hide that. The above single, Midnight Bones, is the lead off to their debut record but do we ever ask ourselves? out on March 10th. Take a listen. Then seriously ask yourselves, “How do The Millenium keep leveling up their game with each release?” Guess we'll... Read more »

Reviews: A History of Violence Opening and Closing Song- The Glitch Anthem (The Glitch Mob vs Kraddy vs. Skrillex) by Cryptex Yeah I'll admit it's a little thin this round but on the plus side it's a shorter episode and I still keep up with my weekly updates. The next couple weeks look pretty poor, IMO, so it could be hard as far as relevant reviews go. Nonetheless you needen't worry I'm not going anywhere, and in the meantime sit back and enjoy the show!

What it’s like to be a female DJ and the gender stigma in electronic music.
Pumpkin shares the artists he loves, how nostalgia makes its way into his music, andhis passion for writing outside the box.
For this spectacular round of anime filled goodness I bring three reviews! I start things off with a delayed review of Dragonball Z: Battle of Gods. That one was surprisingly hard to review in retrospect. Next is Bayonetta: Bloody Fate, in a nutshell this is a condensed anime version of the first game. But if you are interested in the second game but don't want to play the first this movie is a great alternative. And lastly is my review of Fate/Zero, the prequel to Fate/Stay Night. If you are wondering at all about my thoughts on Fate/Stay Night I will refer you to Minisode 31. Nonetheless you can walk into Fate/Zero without any knowledge and still really enjoy this one. It's a great show, I highly recommend all of you see this one before it gets pulled from Netflix. Enjoy the show! Opening Song- to the beginning by Kalafina Closing Song- The Prestige by Kraddy
Like so many times before, I had something typed out and now it is once more gone because the internets broke and I can't edit posts like was able to before. Something with the new layout or Windows 8 is making it impossible to do. Anyways so for this week I leave the reviews with one movie as I review Oblivion. Overall I did enjoy this film despite its couple of faults. After that I do the Box Office Report and lastly there is some news peppered in there. But before you go make sure to listen to my Closing Comments as I talk about Fall Out Boy's new album, "Save Rock and Roll." Enjoy the show! Opening and Closing Song- Into the Labyrinth by Kraddy
Kraddy's one of the founding members of the legendary Glitch Mob, and an incredible DJ in his own right. He's got an album called "Anthems of the Hero," and once upon a time, he was given the opportunity in an island paradise to be a hero himself. All the music in this piece was by Kraddy. He even made a track specially for this episode of Stagedive! Download it here: http://soundcloud.com/ambionic-1/kraddy-surf-rock-song

Since relocating from Cape Town, South Africa in 1994, San Francisco's Dov has kept busy throwing events, distributing records, developing labels, producing tracks, Djing around the Bay, the US, EU, and South Africa.. uh let's see... bringing all those UK breaks labels into California back in the 90's (Fuel, Botchit, Mechanoise...), running the first (and several subsequent) breaks weeklies in SF, finding Kraddy and Kemek and putting out their first records, along with releases from E.V.A.C., Future Funk Squad, An*ten*nae, Audiovoid, and a bunch more on his own label, Muti Music. Muti was started in 2002, and has been steadily uncovering and publishing emerging artists from California and the UK, with releases ranging from tough UK-style breaks and hard electro to dark, minimal dubstep and heavy midtempo bangers. Dov drops an exclusive mix on us this month, seven tracks of funky, heavy electro and breaks. This is late at night, covered in sweat, pushing through bodies so you can find the sweet spot on the dancefloor kinda shit, mostly Muti releases and pre-releases. Together with local VJ collective, videomorphose.com, AE bombed the city with guerilla video graffiti, a form of urban street art new to lisboa. Armed with a full magazine of subversive content in their laptops and a high-performance videobeamer firing twenty five frames per second mounted inside a civilian SUV, the crew of four assaulted the streets late at night with their temporary visual ammunition. Video graffiti covered walls, automobiles, and monuments temporarlily, leaving behind no damage or trace of their presence. Public spaces, with thousands of buildings acting as canvasses, are prime targets for displaying messages and transporting ideas - advertising companies recognize this, and that is why they are branded with commercial messages. In contemporary times, these are actually the dominant message, and its "pay to play". In the same way that grafitti artists retake these urban spaces and reclaim them to for non-commercial messages expressing their disenfrachisement, artificialeyes.tv "branded" lisboa with the message, "BLINK TOUR", encouraging spectators to "turn off, tune out, and drop in", and to question whether the medium is "still" the message.Check out the 4 minute video below. Music by our buddy KRADDY
For our fifth episode, San Francisco basspimp Kraddy steps up with 30 minutes of that glitchy, electro dancehall hip-hop kind of shit that no one has a name for. We eat that shit up. We think it's representative of an emergent musical (and we're gonna go ahead and say cultural) paradigm powered by the disassembly of genre boundaries and skillful application of technology. And we love how it just make a booty shake. Kraddy has been involved in music production since interning at a San Francisco recording studio in 1996, and has produced for a variety of projects, including bay area hip-hop innovators Paris and Mystik Journeymen, dance companies Capacitor and the Printz Dance Project, and various films and commercials. His original tracks and remixes have been shaking dancefloors in the US and abroad, with support from the likes of Dave Tipper, Freq Nasty, and Bassnectar. In addition to several 12" releases on Texas' Bless Records and SF Breaks mainstay Muti Music, Kraddy has a full-length CD, Truth Has No Path, available on his own Refiner Records imprint. mk005 » may 2006 » kraddy 1. Finally starting to come down from a mind-blowing week at AVIT UK in Birmingham. After meeting Toby Harris last summer at AVIT in San Francisco, I decided to get myself over to the UK to see what other VJs in Eupore were doing and hopefully meet some interesting folks. The trip exceeded my wildest expectations. Everyone at the conference was amazingly friendly and open. The sense of community was tremendous. The AVIT organizers put on the most fantastic event I have attended. Highlights included getting sponsored by vidvox, makers of the awesome GridPro application, scoring a midnight to 1 a.m. VJ spot to play along with the amazing Kraddy at the Drop Beats Not Bombs party which I shared with Michael, winning the grand prize of an Edirol V4 mixer in the raffle as well as two pieces of software. Really got a thorough going over by the inspectors at Heathrow and Dulles airports on my way back home to Los Angeles. Both sets of screeners were particularly intrigued with the folding tripod I was carrying. The imigration official at Dulles hassled me about not looking anything like my passport photo. Guess most folks have more of a stable look and their identification has longer relevance. The new breed of RFID enabled identification on the cusp of being legislated in the US has potential to help with this, but I doubt it would be made useful in such a manner. A big thank you to fALk and Michael for welcoming me onboard. Music: Dilemma's "sawtooth" Chip Tune.
As a new format on the blog we introduce mixes from time to time. Mixes are longer then the loops and mostly live mixes one of the blog members did on some occasion. They are meant to demonstrate that you can tell stories and transmit meaning inside the vj context. The first one of these is "Invokation des Lichtes" my second "fictional narrative" dealing with the TV as our main influence of spirituality and the confusion of ones believes and its soul/body split that can result out of it. Little personal feeling and observation. Technical details is one night shooting with two DV cameras, 2.5 day postproduction with Aftereffects, 5 minute live mixing with VDMX4.2beta2 and VDMX3 on two powerbooks in my living room as test - no postproduction work on the recording (so all live). Music is part of a mix done by Kraddy. WARNING: The file is 6 Minutes long and 50 MB in size. To view it you have to have a MPG4 H.264 standard conform player like Quicktime 7 - Normal MPG4 was not an option as the filesize would have ballooned to over 90Mb to still have accapable quality. I hope you can still enjoy this.
