The term “one-day wonder” is used by birders for rare birds that are seen on only one day and then move on. This was the case with the Double-striped Thick-knee (Hesperoburhinus bistriatus) that appeared for a single, long day on Sunday, Sept. 14, in plain view to many observers including avid birders and photographers, on the Coleman ranch near Nixon. A brother and sister spotted an unusual bird as they were about to leave their property in the Nixon area that Sunday morning. Jennifer and Micah Coleman and their daughter and son, Cricket and Cutter, were on their way to...Article Link

In this episode, we look at how we've each been given a spiritual garment that we wear throughout this life and how through sin and embracing carnality we've soiled and spotted this garment. The religious elite have told us that we have to try to patch this garment up through our own effort and we have to try to make it appear outwardly better by our own doing but that's not what God tells us. We look throughout scripture to see that Jesus offers us a brand new garment, one washed clean by His blood, one that will cover all our sins and make it like they never even happened. Only Jesus can give us this new garment and when we come to Him and lay our filthy rags before Him, He'll give us a new robe that's white as snow!
The USDA has been promoting its “Stomp It” campaign for some years now to try to control the spread of the invasive Spotted Lanternfly, but the plant-hopping insect, a native of Southeast Asia, has continued to travel out from the Mid-Atlantic where it first arrived in the United States, and is threatening fruit trees and vineyards. As the insect embarks on another annual mating season come September, Sunil Dasgupta talks with Penn State University entomologist Julie Urban about the effort to kill them. Although the temperature plummeted and rain ran off our jackets, our excitement and determination could not be dampened. Rubber boots tromped over soggy leaf litter, and hands grasped at every fallen log, flipping them over as we searched the forest. The Wild Wonders campers and I were on a mission, seeking out an animal who thrives in rainy conditions–the salamander.
They’re on pavement, in gardens and in parks. If you’re in the Northeast, you’ve probably seen a spotted lanternfly this summer. The invasive species has spread to 19 states where they chow down on dozens of plants, especially grape vines. Deema Zein reports. Welcome to The Times of Israel's Daily Briefing, your 20-minute audio update on what's happening in Israel, the Middle East and the Jewish world. Military reporter Emanuel Fabian joins host Amanda Borschel-Dan for today's episode. The Israeli Air Force on Sunday carried out strikes in Yemen’s Houthi-held capital of Sanaa, reportedly killing at least four people and injuring scores. The strike came shortly after the military said that an IAF investigation into a Friday night ballistic missile attack from Yemen found that, for the first time, the Houthis used a projectile with a cluster bomb warhead. We learn about this warhead and the IAF's strike. The Israeli army uprooted thousands of olive trees in the West Bank village of al-Mughayyir following a shooting attack in the area last week carried out by a resident, according to Palestinian media. In addition, a three-day curfew was imposed on the village, which was lifted Sunday morning. We discuss the allegation that the IDF is using collective punishment following this attempted shooting and the IDF's response. While visiting the Haifa naval base yesterday, IDF Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Eyal Zamir said that “there is a [hostage] deal on the table, we need to take it,” according to Channel 13 news. The report quoted Zamir adding that “the IDF brought about the conditions for a deal, now it is in Netanyahu’s hands. These "hot mic" remarks come ahead of the planned operation to takeover Gaza City, even as Israeli planes and tanks pounded the eastern and northern outskirts of the city overnight Saturday and into Sunday, destroying buildings and homes, killing residents. We learn what is happening on the ground. Late last week, Israeli authorities warned medical facilities and international organizations in the northern Gaza Strip to gear up for mass evacuations of civilians as it drove ahead toward a planned military offensive aimed at conquering Gaza City. We hear which hospitals are still functioning in the Strip.Check out The Times of Israel's ongoing liveblog for more updates.
