Send us a textEven in light of FINAL DESTINATION: BLOOD LINES and SINNERS tearing up the box office, the consensus seems to be that horror is at an over saturation point and the party is over. While I agree there are warning signs, the party ain't ending tomorrow, the next day, or next week. We have a lot of runway left and I have advice for the prod cos on how to extend it. Also, I list the top ten films which either changed my life or changed the way I view and create films. This was inspired by an edible so keep your expectations in check. On X: @BloodPopcornPod
Send us a textWhile it looked like Demi Moore was cleaning up in Awards Season, a late darling pretty much swept the Oscars. Doesn't matter much in the long run. Demi is great and the Oscars are just a PR campaign for the industry. I'll walk you through it. Also, maybe it's time for the Oscars to fade into history. The desperate attempts to remain relevant in an era where Awards shows have little to zero impact is beginning to look sad. Also dropping a new SCREAM theory on y'all. On X: @BloodPopcornPod
Send us a textClosing out what was personally a rough year, but for the horror genre it was one of the best ever, and 2025 looks to be just as good. Industry contraction has finally found it's bottom, they finally know what streaming actually is, and production is about to ramp up. Buckle up.On X: @BloodPopcornPod
Send us a textTerrifier 3 and Smile 2 ruled the box office on their opening weekends, leaving some big budget fare in the dust. The Hollywood Reporter things the horror market is over saturated, we prove that claim wrong. And we finally have our second wine tasting. Ghost Pines 2019 Red Blend. Is it good for your Thanksgiving table? On X: @BloodPopcornPod
Send us a textBack from a surreal, emotional summer. But, I came through it understanding far more about myself, and why film gets so personal for some of us. There is an alleged Crystal Lake update. Terrifier 3 opens and can do something hilarious and important.Robert Englund makes it official. And there's drama at the drive-in. On X: @BloodPopcornPod
I took a hiatus to deal with my father's passing. But it's time to get back to work. Talking how Roger Corman and Al Ruddy's passing is also the passing of an important era in Hollywood's history. Also taking Crystal Lake, My Bloody Valentine, and ignore the doomsayers, the box office is just fine. Hollywood just needs to make better choices. On X: @BloodPopcornPod
Lot of new horror releases to talk about, and there sure are a lot of people who want to declare movie theaters and horror dead. Ever wonder why? On X: @BloodPopcornPod
Back from vacation. Mexico was great. Can't wait to go back. SCREAM 7 unfolds exactly the way I said it would, two film remakes are coming that might be good, WOLFMAN gets delayed (but don't worry), and I blow up the attempt to boycott LATE NIGHT WITH THE DEVIL by using their own argument. On X: @BloodPopcornPod
A quick tour of horror news, and tackling some of the responses to TRUE DETECTIVE Season 4. Spoilers. And I kind of get worked up and say "fuck" a few times. You have been warned. TWITTER: @BloodPopcornPod
SCREAM 7 continues to make news. Christopher Landon opts in. David Gordon Green opts out. EXORCIST: BELIEVER thoughts. The war on physical media has begun. But we have wine. TWITTER: @BloodPopcornPod
Talking the dumpster fire that is SCREAM 7. I provide clarity and offer the studio some options. Now that the Hollywood strikes are over there is actual horror news. Do not mistake the film industry for a college campus. TWITTER: @BloodPopcornPod
INSIDUOUS 5 crushed INDIANA JONES 5 indicating not all "franchise fatigue" is equal. Streamers are consolidating in an attempt to survive, and who is going to pay for the wage increases the WGA, SAG and DGA are asking for? You know who. TWITTER: @BloodPopcornPod
The Last Drive In Season Five Premiere threw us a curve ball and it was delightful! SCREAM VI drops on VOD and Paramount+.The Horror Is Hot trend continues as EVIL DEAD RISE crushes it at the box office. The POPE'S EXORCIST is getting a buddy. The Horror Tent has no room for toxic jerks who attack people for not liking a movie.*Disclosure: I own Paramount Stock.TWITTER: @BloodPopcornPod
So glad to be back recording after being away working my tail to the bone! Breaking News! Horror is hot! Yes, you and I know it, but now everyone else knows it. They want you back in theaters as the streaming bubble bursts. Let's break it down. TWITTER: @BloodPopcornPod
The horror "purists" were out bashing PG-13 horror again, so let's talk about it. Also, filmmakers are not special. That should get me in some trouble, yeah?TWITTER: @BloodPopcornPod
Taking at look at the current horror landscape, which looks lush with fresh, original content; including A WOUNDED FAWN, hitting Shudder and VOD on December 1st. We talk with lead actress Sarah Lind. NOTE: Discovered we had a little audio interference here and there we did not detect during the recording. Apologies! TWITTER: @BloodPopcornPod
HALLOWEEN ENDS is more controversial than HALLOWEEN KILLS. Jack from The Good, The Pod & The Ugly rejoins as we take a look ad ENDS and the David Gordon Green trilogy as a whole now that Michael Meyers has been put to rest. TWITTER: @BloodPopcornPod
This year we got two reboots/sequels to two "tired" IPs, with very different results. What are they? Tune in to find out!TWITTER: @BloodPopcornPod
Seems like there are new horror titles popping up on the various streaming services almost every day, but you've been burned so many times before by picking a dud you'd rather pick something tried and true like SCREAM or DAWN OF THE DEAD for the 100th time. But, still, you miss the days of discovering a new favorite. I give you a few titles I think will be worth your precious time. TWITTER: @BloodPopcornPod
After taking a forced break between episodes due to circumstances mostly beyond my control, this topic has been on my mind. Glad to be back!TWITTER: @BloodPopcornPod
