Consciousness, Near-Death Experiences (plus Outer Body Experiences) with Pim van Lommel Pim and I discuss his book, Consciousness Beyond Life - The Science of the Near-Death Experience. More than most books, I was surprised to have some similar experiences that the book described, which I had never really thought about. The quality of writing and the flow of information are really enjoyable, and the content is very interesting. Pim shares that the book, Return from Tomorrow, is what set him on track to learn more about Near-Death Experiences (NDE). He discusses Daniel Dennett and David Chalmers briefly in the book, and the theory that consciousness has 'non-locality' and 'endless consciousness.' We talk about whether or not there are groups that are trying to re-create NDE, or at least induce it. He mentioned the movie 'Flatliners' when I asked that. In the book, he talks about Ketamine (Special K), Ayahuasca and DMT. That the brain enables consciousness, but is not consciousness itself. Pim doesn't believe that we will ever have 'artificial intelligence' or 'artificial general intelligence' either. Thank you for watching! For more info, visit https://www.DavidBramante.com

The Meaning Crisis in Western Society - Jon Vervaeke | Consciousness, Wisdom, Meaning, Purpose Is Western Society doomed? This is my conversation with Professor John Vervaeke about his 50-part series Awakening from the Meaning Crisis and his book Zombies in Western Culture, and the work he and others are doing to identify and win the race against a lack of meaning and purpose in Western society. John believes were in trouble, especially as we watch the rapid breakdown of the Axial Age and Christianity in Western Society. He argues in both the book and series that we are experiencing something similar to the Hellenistic Domicide and Westerners' worldview and world attunement is in crisis. There is a breakdown in the agent-arena relationship in the West. He said there are groups forming rapidly to respond, racing against the clock if you will, and that the "nones" that no longer associate themselves with Christianity, America or similar umbrellas still yearn for something... a new religion which is no religion, and it's difficult to grasp and will have many options for solving personally. An ecology of practices. Thank you for watching! For more info, visit https://www.DavidBramante.com #JohnVervaeke #Meaning #DavidBramanteShow

Longtime artificial intelligence (AI) researcher and investor Steve Shwartz has grown frustrated with the fear-inducing hype around AI in popular culture and media. Yes, today's AI systems are miracles of modern engineering, but no, humans do not have to fear robots seizing control or taking over all our jobs. In this exploration of the fascinating and ever-changing landscape of artificial intelligence, Dr. Shwartz explains how AI works in simple terms. After reading this captivating book, you will understand. -- the inner workings of today's amazing AI technologies, including facial recognition, self-driving cars, machine translation, chatbots, deepfakes, and many others; -- why today's artificial intelligence technology cannot evolve into the AI of science fiction lore; -- the crucial areas where we will need to adopt new laws and policies in order to counter threats to our safety and personal freedoms resulting from the use of AI. So although we don't have to worry about evil robots rising to power and turning us into pets—and we probably never will—artificial intelligence is here to stay, and we must learn to separate fact from fiction and embrace how this amazing technology enhances our world. Luis started the robotics team about 10 years ago with two other teachers, and with the STEM program starting early in the district, self-taught and peer-taught students like Said, Reyes and Valentina are learning and competing in robotics competitions. These students are learning JAVA programming, engineering and building at Montwood High School in El Paso, Texas (https://www.sisd.net/montwoodhs). The high school has so many students in the robotics program, that they have two teams competing in the FIRST Tech Challenge (FTC) (https://www.firstinspires.org) this year 2021. Last year actually had three teams, and two of last year's three teams went on a winning spree, and was set to go to the FTC Worlds competition (and might have won), but that contest was canceled due to COVID-19 concerns. Now they're starting back up at the league level and their teams are looking stronger than ever. Find Michael "Wandering Sou" Robert here: https://www.instagram.com/wandering._soul_/ Find his awesome "Blue Dream Van" here: https://www.instagram.com/thebluedreamvan/ Vandwelling, a portmanteau of the words "van" and "dwelling", is a lifestyle of living full- or part-time in a vehicle, typically a van that has been modified with basic amenities, such as house batteries, solar panels, a bed platform, some form of toilet, sink and storage space. Some vandwellers live this lifestyle by choice while seeking freedom, self-sufficiency, and mobility without paying for conventional stationary housing, while for others it may be one step from living on the street or in a shelter. An idealized version has been popularized through social media with the hashtag #vanlife. Although the term vandwelling implies living in a van, many types of vehicles may be used for permanent, mobile living arrangements, including conventional buses, school buses (called "skoolies"), campervans, RVs, travel trailers or mobile homes.
