Is Islam Compatible With Western Society? | JT Pinna. Blasphemy laws, Sharia courts, Burkas, First-cousin marriage, the Rape Gangs, Women's Rights, Gay Rights... these are all contentious issues in the UK due to the introduction of Islam into mainstream society. With our classical liberal values under threat and the Muslim population on a steady rise, can we preserve our free society, but in harmony with Islam? I discuss my concerns around this with JT Pinna, host of the Crossing Faiths Podcast. Follow JT

In this profound interview with Rob from Avoiding Babylon by Chris from Crash Canon, we journey through the critical historical moments that transformed our world from traditional Christendom to post-Christian modernity.Rob makes a compelling case that World War I served as the decisive turning point. More than just a military conflict, it was the death knell for the traditional European monarchical system. We explore how the assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand triggered a domino effect that dismantled centuries of Christian governance across Europe. The fall of the Habsburgs, Romanovs, and other royal houses wasn't just political change—it represented a fundamental spiritual and cultural shift. Our discussion takes fascinating detours into biblical translation controversies, examining the theological implications of phrases like "She shall crush thy head" versus "He shall crush thy head" in Genesis. We also share personal stories of faith journeys—how we drifted away from Catholicism and what eventually brought us back.Perhaps most thought-provoking is our examination of modern political terminology. As Rob explains, "To be conservative, you have to be wanting to conserve or restore Christianity." Yet today's political "conservatives" often advance classically liberal ideas that would have been revolutionary two centuries ago.Whether you're a history buff, theology enthusiast, or simply curious about how our world became what it is today, this episode provides rich context for understanding our cultural moment. The echoes of these historical transformations continue to shape our society, politics, and spiritual landscape.Subscribe to Crash Cannon for more stimulating conversations that bridge faith, history, and culture. The modern cult of vulnerability has birthed a paradox: We weaponize insecurity to commodify intimacy. This essay argues that Western society's obsession with “safety” in relationships enshrines codependency as a shadow economy, where performative wound- trading replaces authentic connection.

This week we are joined by Austin Ruse, President of Center for Family & Human Rights (C-Fam) in New York and Washington DC and writer/editor for Crisis Magazine. In this episode, Deacon Geoff and Austin discuss ways the sexual revolution continues to impact our Western society and the behavior of leaders in our country. In a world that is riddled with compromise, they emphasize the importance of being bold and courageous in living out the truths of the Catholic Christina faith, which can sometimes mean uncomfortable conversations and acknowledging ways leaders in the community are not upholding every aspect of Catholic Social Teaching and the dignity of the human person. Kevin MacDonald's book, The Culture of Critique, is an evolutionary analysis of Jewish involvement in 20th-century intellectual and political movements. It's strange that I have to clarify this but Kevin's work is not about hatred towards Jews. Whenever a topic like this is discussed, the knee-jerk reaction is to label it as anti-Semitic or hateful.Just listen to this conversation with an open mind.
Since the French Revolution of 1789, the absence of laws banning interracial marriages has served to reinforce two myths about modern France--first, that it is a sexual democracy and second, it is a color-blind nation where all French citizens can freely marry whomever they wish regardless of their race. Caroline Séquin challenges the narrative of French exceptionalism by revealing the role of prostitution regulation in policing intimate relationships across racial and colonial boundaries in the century following the abolition of slavery. Desiring Whiteness: A Racial History of Prostitution in France and Colonial Senegal, 1848-1950 (Cornell UP, 2024) traces the rise and fall of the "French model" of prostitution policing in the "contact zones" of port cities and garrison towns across France and in Dakar, Senegal, the main maritime entry point of French West Africa. Séquin describes how the regulation of prostitution covertly policed racial relations and contributed to the making of white French identity in an imperial nation-state that claimed to be race-blind. She also examines how sex industry workers exploited, reinforced, or transgressed the racial boundaries of colonial rule. Brothels served as "gatekeepers of whiteness" in two arenas. In colonial Senegal, white-only brothels helped deter French colonists from entering unions with African women and producing mixed-race children, thus consolidating white minority rule. In the metropole, brothels condoned interracial sex with white sex workers while dissuading colonial men from forming long-term attachments with white French women. Ultimately, brothels followed a similar racial logic that contributed to upholding white supremacy. Dr. Séquin earned a BA and MA in English and American Studies at Université Nancy 2, an MA in Women and Gender Studies at Université Paris 8, and her Ph.D. at the University of Chicago. She has won a number of awards from a range of institutions including Best Paper Prize from the Council for European Studies' Gender and Sexuality Research Network for the article “Marie Piquemal, the ‘Colonial Madam': Brothel Prostitution, Migration, and the Making of Whiteness in Interwar Dakar”. But I want to call attention to her Edward T. Gargan Prize for the best graduate student paper presented on post-1800 history at the annual conference of the Western Society for French History. Many boys like to be a girl from birth on. And they think that they are wrong when they would be a boy. Their brain is wired as a female… They don't like to be a man with all his aggression. They like to be: a soft person, like a woman, like to care for kids, like makeup, love beautiful female dresses… They don't like to show aggression or to fight. Even so, a girl is getting 4 times more hugs than a boy. For a boy, who is sensitive the society of men is unattractive... And these soft boys are going quickly seduced by men, and it is easier for them to have sex with the same gender. If we would force a Ladyboy to become normal, the risk of suicide is quite high. Instead, we should tolerate them as normal. The Western Society is still abusing sex under the same genders, and in the previous generation, it was forbidden to have sex under the same genders. In Thailand, a Buddhist Country, it is accepted to be a Ladyboy, because of their Karma teaching. In Thailand should be 3 genders, male, female and Ladyboys. When somebody had sexually abused a woman or misbehaved badly against women, he can be reborn as a Ladyboy. The Thais accept Ladyboys and don't abuse them rather more to have pity for them. And the Thais think that Ladyboys can communicate with the spirits and also enlightenment is possible for them. Why is it bad to be a Ladyboy? In our society is intolerance the very norm, and abusing different behavior is tolerated. I by myself liked as kid to be a girl, or to be both… I didn't like to be only a boy. Because I was very sensitive and also loved female work… Later when I became sexually mature, I didn't like to have sex with men, even all the gays were running after me like crazy. I was sexually abused by a man… I started to hate all these gays… And after some time when I slept with women, I could accept the gays who were running after me. On this edition of One Single Story, Pastors Stephen Mizell and Jay Rivenbark discuss the following questions: Western Society presents tremendous compassion for animals. People who are hateful to other people are often incredibly kind and compassionate toward animals. Does this represent a conflict? Is it possible that the reason people can be hateful to other people and compassionate to animals is due to the presence of morals in humans and the absence of morals in animals? Do you have other theories as to why God used the amoral animal kingdom to respond to Jobs' questions? The reading for the day is Job 39.

Hill addressed the issue of AI “hallucinations”—erroneous outputs—and the dangers of blindly trusting AI.“We're losing a sort of grip on reality… because it's becoming harder to distinguish between what's real and what isn't real,” Hill commented, expressing concerns about a future rife with misinformation.Concluding ThoughtsInfosecurity Europe 2024 highlighted AI's dual nature: its potential to revolutionize industries like healthcare and cybersecurity contrasted with its capacity to disrupt societal norms and personal authenticity. As Hill succinctly put it, “Those that own the AI, you know, OpenAI and all their sponsors, and what influence could be exerted on AI, political or otherwise, to bias… dangerous.”The dialogue underscored the need for evolving our understanding and ethical governance of AI to ensure these powerful tools enhance rather than undermine our societal fabric.Be sure to follow our Coverage Journey and subscribe to our podcasts!____________________________Follow our InfoSecurity Europe 2024 coverage: https://www.itspmagazine.com/infosecurity-europe-2024-infosec-london-cybersecurity-event-coverageOn YouTube:

Melvyn Bragg and guests discuss the Serbian-American inventor Nikola Tesla (1856-1943) and his role in the development of electrical systems towards the end of the nineteenth century. He made his name in New York in the contest over which current should flow into homes and factories in America. Some such as Edison backed direct current or DC while others such as Westinghouse backed alternating current or AC and Nikola Tesla's invention of a motor that worked on AC swung it for the alternating system that went on to power the modern age. He ensured his reputation and ideas burnt brightly for the next decades, making him synonymous with the lone, genius inventor of the new science fiction. The Rich Zeoli Show- Full Episode (05/02/2024): 3:05pm- Did Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg's “hush money” case against former President Donald Trump just blow up? Matthew Haag of The New York Times writes: “Defense lawyers for Donald J. Trump painted the lawyer who negotiated the hush-money deal at the center of his criminal trial as a serial extortionist, accusing him of taking aim at Mr. Trump before the 2016 election with a porn star's account of a sexual liaison. The lawyer, Keith Davidson, spent hours on the stand describing how he received the $130,000 payment for the woman, Stormy Daniels, from Mr. Trump's longtime fixer, Michael D. Cohen, and the mad scramble that ensued when the story got out anyway. The cross-examination quickly turned hostile: Mr. Trump's lawyers sought to cast Mr. Davidson as a shakedown artist who took aim at celebrities including Tila Tequila and Charlie Sheen, while he fought back by suggesting they were using loaded language like ‘extortion' to stigmatize legitimate settlements.” During his opening monologue Rich notes that during testimony, Davidson said he did not consider the payments from Trump to be “hush money.” You can read more here: https://www.nytimes.com/live/2024/05/02/nyregion/trump-hush-money-trial/trump-trial-keith-davidson-testimony?smid=url-share 3:30pm- Does anyone else think former Trump attorney Michael Cohen simply sounds bitter because he wasn't selected for a prestigious position in the Trump Administration in 2016? 3:40pm- Drum Roll Please: Rich will be at Mulligan's Shore Bar in Wildwood on Saturday May 11th from 5pm to 7pm for Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump's big campaign rally in Wildwood, NJ! 4:05pm- Listeners call-in and offer their opinions on the Trump “hush money” trial—but Rich gets sidetracked when he starts receiving compliments! 4:30pm- Former President Donald Trump spoke with the press briefly after court concluded on Thursday. PLUS, the New York Times's Maggie Haberman claims that “Trump left the courtroom, squinting strangely at Lawrence O'Donnell, the MSNBC host, as he did.” Don't forget, Haberman famously complained that Trump “glared” at her during a court appearance last month. Will Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Brag prosecute Trump for “glaring” and “squinting” next? 4:40pm- In a particularly bizarre segment from MSNBC's Morning Joe, host Joe Scarborough predicted that if Donald Trump wins the 2024 presidential race, he will “arrest political enemies” and “execute generals that don't follow his commands”—even using “SEAL Team 6 to execute political opponents.” Speaking of dictators, did you know that an estimated 16 million people are descendants of Genghis Khan? 5:05pm- After leaving court on Thursday, former President Donald Trump visited with the NYPD and FDNY—brining a mountain of pizzas with him! 5:10pm- While speaking with the press, a spokesperson for the UCLA anti-Israel protesters proclaimed that the university was “founded on colonialism,” calling it a “violent institution.” She went on to condemn the United States of America as being evil and called for the dismantling of the country's institutions. 5:20pm- The Wall Street Journal Editorial Board writes: “Why pass laws when the Biden Administration ignores them? The latest example is a new rule that purports to codify permitting reform in Congress's debt-ceiling deal last year. Instead, the rule creates a pocket veto for fossil fuels and public works while rubber-stamping green projects. Permitting reform for we, but not thee… The Administration's new rule ignores the law by making it easy to kill projects that progressives oppose… Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer promised West Virginia Sen. Joe Manchin he'd take up permitting reform in return for supporting the Inflation Reduction Act. But Democrats in Congress blocked significant reforms, and now the Administration guts even the minor reforms in the IRA.” You can read the full article here: https://www.wsj.com/articles/permitting-reform-rule-biden-administration-green-projects-fossil-fuels-environment-2396058a?mod=opinion_lead_pos2 5:40pm- Pro-Israel and Pro-Palestine demonstrators at Alabama University shared a brief moment of unity when both sides began chanting “F*** Joe Biden.” Who says we can't all come together? 6:05pm- Amy Swearer—A Senior Legal Fellow in The Heritage Foundation's Edwin Meese III Center for Legal and Judicial Studies—joins The Rich Zeoli Show to discuss a maddening story about an elderly Pennsylvania homeowner who has been arrested for defending himself during a home invasion. You can read more about the story here: https://reason.com/2024/05/01/this-elderly-man-was-arrested-after-shooting-a-burglar-in-self-defense-because-his-gun-was-unlicensed/. The Manhattan DA has a meaningless business-records misdemeanor wrapped within a theory about an alleged Trump conspiracy to defraud the voters by denying them disparaging information before the election and obscuring, after the fact, the payments that were used to do so. Bragg is accusing Trump, in effect, of stealing the election. If this is the standard by which we judge elections, we need to go back and conclude that Bill Clinton wasn't elected legitimately in 1992, either. The Arkansas governor's political operation was, in part, an elaborate conspiracy to keep women who alleged to have had affairs with Clinton quiet. Hillary Clinton was an active participant in the schemes. And so, by Bragg's logic, this Democratic power couple—dominant in the party for a decade or more and still honored today—comprises election thieves.” You can read the full article here: https://www.nationalreview.com/2024/04/remember-when-bill-clinton-stole-the-1992-election/

Why does God cares so much about what we do with our bodies?Western Society is obsessed with sex. While we might feel like this has been a recent development, things aren't very different now than they were in Corinth 2,000 years ago. This is because sex is, was, and always has been an act of worship. The question is, who or what are we worshipping with sex, and with our bodies? The Bible has a great deal to say on this as we look at 1 Corinthians 6:12-20.Disclaimer for parents: This sermon will include many sensitive topics such as sex, pornography, homosexuality and transgenderism. As always it is up to your discretion whether or not to allow your children to be present during the sermon. We will speak of these topics with the utmost sensitivity and care, and in no way do we intend to be lewd or debased in how we present this material. You may find this sermon will be very appropriate for middle and high school students especially.Support the show

Greg Lukianoff is a First Amendment lawyer by training. During his education he began to see how, even among organizations ostensibly created to help protect free speech, how actual free speech was improperly being conflated with harassment or bullying. When he went to work as a legal director of the nascent Foundation for Individual Rights in Education in around 2000, he quickly discovered that in academia, the one place where free speech and open inquiry should be valued above all else, actual free speech was under attack. In the intervening two decades, during which he rose to become director of that Foundation, now renamed to encompass the fact that the attacks on free speech that began in academia have proliferated throughout our society, he has actively worked to fight these attacks. Beyond his legal work, he has become a prolific writer. His 2018 book, co-written with Jonathan Haidt, entitled The Coddling of the American Mind, was influential in encouraging debate and discussion regarding the origins of the victimization mentality that was becoming prevalent in Western Society.I have been admirer of Greg's for some time, and have wanted to have a dialogue with him on the podcast. This year, with Rikki Schlott, Greg published The Canelling of the American Mind: How Cancel Culture Undermines Trust, Destroys Institutions and Threatens us All, and it provided us the ideal opportunity to get together to discuss both his own personal experiences , and also the general concerns we both have about the issues that form the heart of the new book. What followed was a fascinating conversation about issues we should all care about. Regular readers of Critical Mass and listeners to The Origins Podcast will be aware of some of the examples and concerns we discussed, but I expect will nevertheless be surprised by the ubiquitous infiltration of cancel culture ideas into our society. We actually begin by defining Cancel Culture, a term that has often been misused and misunderstood in the popular media, and then discuss a variety of examples, before closing with a brief discussion of the ways that we can possibly combat it to produce a more tolerant, democratic society, and to save higher education as well. I hope you are provoked, enlightened, and energized by the conversation. As always, an ad-free video version of this podcast is also available to paid Critical Mass subscribers. Your subscriptions support the non-profit Origins Project Foundation, which produces the podcast. The audio version is available free on the Critical Mass site and on all podcast sites, and the video version will also be available on the Origins Project Youtube channel as well. In this special Christmas Eve message we discuss how Western Society is focused on what is under the tree this Christmas Season when we should be told about who hung on the tree 2000 years ago that would ultimately become the gift from God that truly is the "gift that keeps on going" to perpetual generations.
