The RFL & Super League have announced the competition will recommence in August 2nd with a triple header and revised format for finishing the 2020 season by the end of November. But perhaps most exciting for fans of the game in Canada was the announced of the Ottawa Aces inaugural head coach, Laurent Frayssinous. What does 'le premier entraîneur-chef have in the works when it comes to forming his squad? How can we expect the team to play? And will Canadian athletes get an opportunity to shine and make the squad? So many questions and only time will tell.

The Two Howlers recap the successful relaunch of the NRL 2020 season picking up with a fast furious Rd.3 filled with plenty of action, highlights and record setting footy showcased! Parramatta jump out to top the table early built on the stingiest defense in the NRL era, whilst the ever mercurial NZ Warriors play a near perfect game to set the record for highest set completion rate in NRL history! In general news, the North QLD Cowboys make a compelling argument for being Canadians' team in the NRL. The first Ashes Test Series between England & Australia for 17yrs is cancelled due to COVID-19. Ben Te'o is back in Rugby League; and Akuila Uate heads home to Aussie after being released from the last year of his contract with Huddersfield. In Super League news, all 12 clubs voted unanimously to maintain the 2020 salary cap at GBP2.1m in a show of solidarity for the sport and it's players. But is it as clear cut as that? The short answer, no. Listen in for more details. Turning ahead to this weekend & Rd.4 of the NRL is already underway and the Roosters have PUMPED the Broncos 59-0 in Thursday night's match up, but who will win the remaining fixtures? Will the Warriors continue where they left off? Will Parra keep their place a top the table, or will Canberra Raiders take the spoils of war vs. the Knights? And, at the foot of the table, will one head coach's fate be sealed come the full time whistle? Lastly, we ask the question: What in the Sam hell is a 'Giltini'? Leeds Rhinos have put the sword to the Wolfpack as Toronto fall to their largest ever defeat in Super League - second only to the pasting they took at the hands of Warrington in the 2018 Challenge Cup. Defensively the Pack looked frail at best with the Rhinos carving up seemingly at will. Questions have been raised after back-to-back lacklustre displays: Has head coach, Brian Mac, lost the dressing room; or is he in the process of losing it? The Two Howlers give their thoughts on the game and more. Overall it was an intensely fought  round of Super League as two games were decided by a single point - both by way of drop goal; and Huddersfield continue to shock pundits and punters from around the league as they claim their biggest scalp of the season beating the reigning champs in their own back yard! In truly exciting news for the world of Rugby League, the Ottawa Aces were officially welcomed to the RFL family at a press conference launching the club on Monday. On a dreary day in northern England, the Toronto Wolfpack put together what can only be described as their worst performance to date as they get nilled at the hands of the reigning Super League champs, St. Helens. With little to celebrate from this game & harsh lessons learnt about just how far off the pace at the top the club currently is, how will the team react to such a defeat where the opposition barely got out of first gear? Despite the loss, the team remain only 2 points off the pace of the next lowest team in the standings. In other Super League results from the round, Huddersfield (the last remaining unbeaten side going in to the weekend) have finally lost their first game of the season at home with a drubbing of their own at the hands of Wigan. In general news: CHASE STANLEY IS OFFICIALLY BACK! Finally spotted at the Wolfpack's Hopwood Hall training facilities and officially announced by the club on social media, his presence is most timely as the injury count is stacking up against the Pack. Liam Marshall may have scored the try of the season already with a ballsy move from the kick off in Wigan's sizeable win over Huddersfield - check out the highlights of the game to see it. And former Wigan Warrior and Rugby Union convert, Chris Ashton, has left his current club (Sale Sharks) with immediate effect! Does this pave the way for a return to Rugby League with the Wolfpack? Lastly, upcoming opponents, Leeds Rhinos, are flying high after 3 wins in a row and 4 from their last 5. The Wolfpack travel to the Emerald Headingley Stadim on a short turn around this Thursday, can they finally get off the mark this season and bounce back after such a poor showing vs. the Saints? Still searching for that complete 80' performance on both sides of the ball, the Wolfpack went agonizingly close to their maiden victory in the first Super League "Battle of the Wolves". Trailing 16-0 after just 23', and 22-12 at the half; the Pack fought back to tie it up 22 a piece with less than 15' in the game before finally succumbing to a spate of poor offload choices and ill-discipline in the dying minutes. What is the key to securing their first win of the season? How can they improve enough to get over the final hurdle? In the remaining fixtures of Super League, the Huddersfield Giants shockingly remain the only unbeaten club in 2020; Leeds find form; Cas' get the derby day 'W' & Wigan bully FC. Challenge Cup Rd.4 saw the last of the amateur clubs eliminated and the "Kneets" of York City battle back at the death to advance away from home vs. London. In general news,  the Chooks of Sydney have secured a record setting 5th World Club Challenge title, overcoming the Saints in a physical and hard fought encounter. Shrouded in mystery still, Anthony Gelling remains sidelined whilst an investigation continues that could allegedly see him face a maximum life sentence. Referee Ben Thaler may allegedly never ref' another game of League again as yet another mystery investigation continues behind closed doors. And lastly, Valentine Holmes makes his much anticipated League return for North Queensland after a stint in the NFL. Lastly, the Two Howlers take a look at upcoming opponents, reigning Super League champions & perennial powerhouse of the Englisk leagues, St. Helens. Big improvements on both sides of the ball once again as the Wolfpack put together their most complete display in Super League despite the odds begin stacked against them even before kick off losing Jon Wilkin to injury and replacement James Cunningham just minutes in to the game. Eventually though, fatigue set in and the Wigan Warriors ran away with it come the full time whistle, though the score line doesn't perhaps reflect the closeness of the game until late on. Catch the match analysis first up. In general news, Israel Folau makes his much anticipated debut for the Catalans Dragons amid RFL investigations regarding rainbow flags at the Stade Gilbert Brutus - can anyone say "Flag Gate"? Referee Ben Thaler is currently on suspension pending an investigation by the RFL. Chase Stanley's visa issues come back to haunt once again perhaps. And, Salford's Kevin Brown doesn't use his brain, just his head as he faces a 2 game suspension for headbutting. Gareth & Rob briefly discuss the concept of a Magic Weekend 9s competition as a way of showcasing the sport and making it more marketable to the masses before turning attentions to upcoming Rd.4 opponents, Warrington Wolves. Would a 9s competition prove a more successful commercial endeavor than yet another loop fixture?
