I call myself a Holistic Health Coach. I have a multidisciplinary holistic approach. I integrate different aspects of eastern & western health philosophies to achieve optimal health. I have been a health professional since 1996. As with a lot of other health professionals, my passion for health and helping other people stemmed from a myriad of my own health problems that started during my teenage years. After fracturing my lumbar spine, being diagnosed with things like chronic fatigue syndrome and thoracic outlet syndrome, tearing cartilage in both knees and having constant digestive issues, I started questioning conventional health teachings. I deduced early on – We don’t catch these diseases, syndromes and disorders. We create them through not listening to our body and making lifestyle choices that negatively influence our immune system from doing its job. My perception on what constitutes a ‘healthy’ immune system is now totally different to what it used to be. My health experiences influenced my choice of life study and profession. After attaining a degree in Human Movement and Exercise Science and becoming a Personal Trainer, I discovered the teachings of Paul Chek, which have forever changed my perception on how the body works. Using Paul’s teachings and simplifying his approach to a ‘Primal Approach’ I has transformed the health of myself, my family and my clients. Check out my family blog entitled Primal Health to see what using a Primal approach can do for YOU! Let me challenge your conventional ideas on health, and you’ll be experiencing life like never before! HOW THE ANXIETY ANSWER WORKS Life is challenging right now. The pressures are heavy and expectations on moms are nearly impossible. It's overwhelming... and stressful... We end up acting in ways we later regret. - Yelling at our kids, Criticizing our spouse, Disconnecting from friends and family. We worry so much about the details of life that we miss out on the joy. We throw on a smile and try to make it to bedtime without collapsing. It doesn't have to be this way. The Anxiety Answer is about finding the JOY in life again. When anxiety holds our brains hostage, we feel out of control. You may have been told that you have a "chemical imbalance in your brain", which makes you feel like your brain is broken. I am here to tell you: It's not. (in fact... the imbalance lies in your GUT, not your brain!) You can overcome anxiety naturally - without strong medications that make you feel like a zombie*. You just need an effective system and support to make it happen. I'm Jessica Derksen, a step-momma with two boys and a super handsome husband. I believe in all things Captain America, being outdoors, working out, creating habits that serve me, and that living your best life is the only thing everyone should do all of the time. PERIOD. I get it, living the life you want to be living is hard. Let's talk about the real stuff that gets in our way, to work with real people like you and me to understand our fears, our habits, how our minds are the things stopping us from all the things we want, and from living the life we want to be living! Creating a life that you love, that works for you, is what I am all about. I have created the life of my dreams, and I'm here to tell ALL of you it IS possible, you can do it too! I LOVE to workout, and no I promise this site isn't about hard core working out; yes, I will talk about the importance of moving your body however that looks like for YOU. But, for me, working out is my medicine, it literally saved my life. My absolute favourite part about working out is the community. Working out with the boys, completing races with them is so much fun! I'm part of the most amazing gym in my city; the people, the trainers the entire community is what keeps me going every day. And if I'm being really honest on Wednesday, my girlfriends and I do workout and wine Wednesday, which is my outlet, my tribe, my thing that kicks my butt and keeps me going for the rest of the week. I suffered with chronic lower back and hip pain from the time I was in my late teens. While I wasn’t in constant pain, I experienced pain every few months. I also developed migraines in my 20s. I tried everything. Some things helped for a while (chiropractic care, acupuncture), but the pain always ended up coming back. Most people simply told me I had a “bad back”, and would just have to live with it. I never quite thought of my back in this way though because I was also strong, flexible and healthy. In 2002 I suffered an “injury” when I leaned over to put a cup in the dishwasher, and was unable to straighten up again. The pain was excruciating. I spent the next week in bed whacked out on painkillers and muscle relaxants. Then one day I went to have a massage, and my friend met me at the door. She was so excited! “You have to come in and see the list in this book! It’s incredible, but I have no idea what to do with it!” She was talking about the book “Feelings Buried Alive Never Die”, by Karol Kuhn Truman. In the back of this book is a list of over 200 illnesses and their probable underlying emotional causes. The next few minutes changed my life. The moment I saw the list I immediately knew what to do with it. I started using this list along with EFT that same day, and I never looked back. I Tapped for myself with great results…I made my kids learn EFT. I made my whole family tap, and got my friends to try it. There’s simply nothing more rewarding than showing someone how to let go of pain. I love that look of surprise when they suddenly see it change! Today's guest is the incomparable Tiffany Toombs, the woman behind the Blue Lotus Mind Institute. Tiffany launched the Blue Lotus Mind Institute in late 2015 to bring together her passions, expertise, experiences and knowledge under one roof. Through Blue Lotus she set about to fulfil her personal mission: empower men, women and children from around the world to live an intentional life aligned with their deepest truth. Tiffany has experienced first hand what it is like to feel stuck and lost in life. This experience allowed her to coach from a deeply personal place, from a place of being broken wide open and diving in to sort out the pieces. Her breaking wide open moment came at 28 when her world crashed around her when was faced with a cheating boyfriend, a miscarriage and thoughts of ending it. Stuck in layers and layers of moving, it took a long time to realize it was time to stop and and love herself enough to begin to put the pieces back together. In today's day and age, busy-ness has become a badge of honor. Tiffany watches as people compete with each other to see who's busier and, ultimately, who has more stress. In this process of this busy-ness and pushing, she believe it's easy to lose touch with the things that truly matter the most to us. It becomes easy to seek out the "quick fixes" to solve or suppress those little niggles in the back of our minds. And so she want to start an empowerment revolution revolution of sorts. She want everyone she comes into contact understand the power they have within. To feel empowered to re-define what happiness and love look and feel like for them. www.bluelotusmind.com --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/whatsyourleap/support
BLIND, BOLD, AND CHANGING THE WORLD! I was born with a degenerative eye condition called Retinitis Pigmentosa and unexpectedly lost most of my eyesight throughout childhood. At the start of my childhood I remember being happy, fearless, and free. But as I reluctantly grew up in a world designed for people to live with sight, I developed a deep fear characterized by tough questions with no answers. Plagued by the reality that I could wake up any morning and lose all of what little, eyesight I had left, my life became a day-in and day-out routine of just trying to make it through each set of grueling 24 hours with some since of dignity and self-worth. I found bits and pieces of solitude in poetry, music, and theater, but each time I was alone, the thoughts of “what if” and “why me” returned. Deep in my innermost being, I knew I was called to a higher purpose and that this affliction of my eyes would be used someday to change the world. However, when the negative thoughts and intense fear was upon me, it seemed like “someday” would never come. One month after graduating high school, I moved away from home and attended a program for blind adults to learn independent living skills. I thought this was my chance to break free from the chains of blindness and enter a new world of freedom, self-worth, and independence. Little did I know that learning braille and how to travel independently, using a long, white cane was only a small part of what would truly make me free. I knew that I was on this journey for a specific purpose that would one day make an impact that would change the world. After I graduated from the training center, i went to college at Louisiana Tech University where i obtained my Bachelors degree in Nutrition and Dietetics. Then, on to grad school where I earned my Masters in Health Promotion. These college years were filled with fun, laughter, community, personal growth, but many challenges as a blind student. There were teachers who would tell me to change my major because there was no way that I would get through their course non-visually. I didn’t of course, where there’s a will, there’s a way! After college, there were so many job interviews that ended with blatant discrimination and demeaning questions because of my disability. Through all of these challenges, i never quit and never caved in. I have been given an extraordinary gift of strength that I have used to my advantage during times of fierce adversity. The time has now come for me to use my experiences, passion, expertise, and extraordinary gifts to make the world a better place. A place where people with disabilities are thriving and living their absolute best lives, applying and working at jobs that truly align with their skills and talents. A place where workspaces are diverse and inclusive for people with and without disabilities. A place where every human being is powerfully walking in their calling, regardless of their challenges or circumstances. A place where everyone decides to live life, boldly. I have been interested in all things spiritual since I was a child and have always been fascinated in the mind and how we can help ourselves to create the life we chose to be born into. I went to spiritualist churches with my parents when I was younger, I was around family and close family friends who did tarot, palmistry and were interested in many different theologies and spirituality. I have read Tarot cards, Runes and followed a Pagan path that has included Wicca, enjoy creating and tell stories as well as acting on stage. In 2002 I went on a life changing trip trekking in Peru and doing the three day Inca trail to Machu Picchu, which led me to quitting my 9-5 office job when I got back and taking a different career path helping people. After this journey I really started to notice Angels more and started to read and experience them more and more. This lead me to Angelic Reiki healing where I completed all training and attunements to become a Master Teacher Practitioner in 2014. Lance Baker came to be a healer by accident after a painfully long personal healing process. For as long as he can remember, he would get really painful migraines every couple of months or so. Not knowing better, thought that this was just what people called a 'headache' so took some aspirin, deal with the pain and got on with it. In 2001 things started to get worse; he started getting vertigo, his left ear felt constantly like it needed to pop and the migraines became more frequent. Many doctor visits later being told "There is nothing wrong", took me to 2004, when he was sent to get an MRI scan of his ear and head. The ear doctor that referred for it said (while pointing at the scans) "I don't know what this is, but that is definitely not meant to be there". It turns out that I had a rather large arachnoid cyst on my brain, and was referred to some neurosurgeons. The neurosurgeon had promised that he could fix all of the problems easily and be back to normal in a couple of months after surgery. Awakening from the surgery, the migraine was immediately back... and it never left for close to ten years! This migraine was sometimes not all that painful, but would fluctuate to intense levels of pain. This went on for years, making daily life a constant struggle. Eventually, he was introduced to Reiki from a friend and gave it a try. Today, Lance is a world renowned Reiki Master teacher and trained hypnosis for the Australian Academy of Hypnosis, across Australia and overseas, He mentors with some of the worlds best hypnotists and best selling author on hypnosis. He lives pain free and instead of working a corporate job and just making money, he gest the chance to help make people's lives better, You can learn more about Lance at http://branchesofhealing.com.au/ --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/whatsyourleap/support

I was just like you, and now … I love my life ! I believe that in each one of us, there is a story to tell. I used to define and victimize myself based on the situations and circumstances that happened in my life. Everything was defined by the pain that I had endured. All the decisions that I made were based on the feeling I was being punished for something. I became very good at acting like everything was great, but that was all an exterior mask because on the inside I was dying and loathed my life and myself. In my early 40’s my father passed away and that unleashed everything I had been suppressing all at once and brought me to a point where I was planning the end of my life and actually found myself quite happy about it. I could see the end to my pain and it felt satisfying somehow. And then, 2 women came into my life; a Reiki Master and a Hypnotist. Things changed for me rapidly after that. There was still a healing journey ahead of me but I had the will to live and began to see my story in a new light. I am here now 10 years later, certified in everything that saved me and then some. I feel victorious about my story and all the things I learned from it. I’ve let go of my triggers and limiting beliefs. Everyday for me is ample, thriving and fabulous. If you think you are stuck, you’re not. In fact, far from it. I’ve taken the best of everything I’ve learned and integrated it into a powerful personalised dynamic and integrative protocol that will release you from the pain, and allow you to live a normal, empowered life. www.thechakrahouseofhealing.com (Private Practice) www.iausm.com (launching soon International Academy of Universal Self Mastery) Facebook @internationalacademyofuniversalselfmastery @thechakrahouseofhealing.com LInkedIn www.linkedin.com/in/ayse-hogan-iausm-com Twitter - academyofusm Instagram - academyofuniversalselfmastery #iselfmastered #selfmastery #onlineacademy #selfeducation #interactivecommunity #empowerment #growth #iausm #ausm --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/whatsyourleap/support

In this episode, I sit down with Kayla Ferguson, founder of The Same Plate. The Same Plate connects communities through curated, global food events that are delivered locally. Through group dinners and group or individual cooking experiences, The Same Plate creates inclusive spaces for people of all identities and backgrounds to eat, think, talk and connect. In the wake of COVID -19, The Same Plate has partnered with CityCraft Foundation in an effort to support both our incredible healthcare workers and local restaurants in the Denver Metro area. Why this campaign, you ask? Shortly after quarantine orders were put in place, numerous partner restaurants reached out, wondering how they were going to withstand months of reduced sales. At the same time, countless news stories began to circulate about the stress Corona is putting on our healthcare system. So, a group of us got together and said why don't we find a way to support local business and our healthcare workers? And we did just that. How, you now ask? 1. The Same Plate is collecting monetary donations via the donate button on The Same Plate homepage (www.thesameplate.com). 2. The Same Plate will distribute that money to local restaurants to prepare takeout orders for local hospitals in Denver (St. Anthony's and Rose Hospital specifically). Now, more than ever many of us are feeling called to support our communities, and this is one small way Kayla and her team have found to do so. --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/whatsyourleap/support

After putting her children to bed, she'd turn on the TV, hoping for reprieve, knowing both her body and soul were simply exhausted. Then, one day, she discovered the art of minimalism. As she began to apply minimalism to her day-to-day, she saw dramatic differences in her life. She came home from her practice and was present with her children. She could put her phone down and was no longer pre-occupied with the to-do list because there was simply less to do. It alleviated the exhaustion, stress, and the "hamster wheel" of daily life. After a few months of practice, she opened her own business teaching others how to apply this to their lives in an easy, applicable fashion. After being removed from 2 big promotion opportunities upon the announcement of each of her pregnancies, Jennifer Henderson, said that's enough. I can either be part of the litigation OR I can be the solution. She chose the solution. And the birth of Career Allies. With the increasing demands of HR in the workplace, there has been a shift of HR functions to be placed in the hands of managers -- who are often under-trained and under-resourced in the conversations around family leave. Jen and her team sit at that crossroads, navigating and creating solutions in a space where pregnancies in the workplace are handled with the greatest of care; where the employees are engaged and supported equally by their employers and employers are supported to plan for next steps. Beth Gray, coach extraordinaire, focuses her practice on brain, heart, and gut alignment. As an mBraining coach, she works to get to the root of decision making that aligns the 3 decision-making centers in our bodies. Her journey began as a Tax Attorney. Along the way, she continued to learn more and more about the body's alignments and misalignments through her own physical pains she experienced when making and following through on decisions that she made based purely on her decision-making mind; not taking into account her heart and gut (intuition). As she began to heal herself, she learned about the practice of mBraining and the importance of brain, heart, & gut alignment. Meg Smit, founder of Smit Happenz, created her business on a passion for better living through a cleaner, healthier diet. Burnt out from her career and raising two small children, Meg began to notice her health was in decline -- she was adding weight, stress, and anxiety to her life. As an avid lover of exercise, these symptoms were misaligned with the life that she had once known. She got curious about how her life had arrived at this crossroads. In that discovery, Meg founded Smit Happenz. Based on biohacking, she began to heal herself -- eating foods that nourished her body and that aligned with her own body chemistry. By following this simple principle, she began to notice significant improvements in her health and outlook. She believes that natural weight loss can occur with a whole food health plan that compliments your unique biome. In this episode, I sit down with Brad Appel, founder of Wish For Wheels. As a kid growing up in New York, his bike was his freedom. It was the vehicle of his childhood. Having spent many years in a variety of industries, his heart beckoned him to do more with his love of bicycles and desire to provide that same sense of joy that he always felt and still feels when on his own ride. In 2004, he married his love of bikes with the ability to provide that same joy, freedom, and confidence by gifting bikes to 2nd graders in low-income housing. He partners with local and national organizations to sponsor the purchase of bikes and organizes bike builds and reveal events across the country -- providing the transformation that cycling can bring to a child's life. Laura Rich, a three-time entrepreneur, found herself in a space of uncertainty and sadness and was unsure of what the next step was going to be after she sold her most recent business. In her own words: she sold her baby. While celebrating the sale of the business she birthed, her friend confronted her and asked her why she wasn't happy and what was missing. It was spending time in that thought that she realized there are other entrepreneurs in exit that feel the very same way that she did -- lost and confused after the exit. This was the birth of her most recent venture, Exit Club, which focuses on the social and emotional community and coaching of exiter's and how they too can find their way to their next big venture. In this episode, I sit down with ERDA founder John Dell. John Dell began ERDA on one simple principle: nourish the land that grows the food that nourishes our bodies. Through the latter part of John's career he traveled the world, exploring and experiencing cultures unlike our own in the US and of his native Australia. Along the way, his life path crossed with John Denver, yes, THE John Denver, who challenged him to do something greater -- to contribute the community in deeper sense than he was already. Taking what he'd learned through nourishing communities in Africa combined with his trials in navigating his daughter's health crisis caused by dietary and emotional choices, John formed ERDA as an answer to his friend and mentor.
