International Coach and Senior Trainer for the More to Life Foundation Ann McMaster shares how the More to Life methodology reveals your Real Reality.  More to Life is based on Dr. K. Bradford Brown and Dr. W. Roy Whitten's training program that enables people to make fundamental changes. Their premise is to be awake to reality– the reality of our essence, relationships, and the moment and circumstance in which we find ourselves. Ann walks Podcast Host Christopher J. Miller through one of his recent Lifeshock experiences to demonstrate how the process works. After we experience a Lifeshock, we interpret the experience based on our current situation and belief systems. This response is known as Mindtalk. With clarity, we revisit the Lifeshock and ask ourselves three questions. Are our thoughts true or false, or do we simply not know? The process helps us live in the real world instead of one made up in our heads. The ultimate goal is learning to live our true destiny.  Ann aligns herself with this saying, "I am who I am, You Are who you are. My journey is my Journey; Your Journey is not my journey. And all journeys work in the big scheme of things." To understand more about the thinking mind, the feeling heart, and the knowing gut, Ann refers the listener to another book titled "Mbraining: Using your multiple brains to do cool stuff" by Grant Soosalu and Marvin Oka. Ann reminds the listener of one undeniable truth, "We belong right here, right now." Ann McMaster has been training, coaching, and working with people from Europe, New Zealand/Australia/Fiji, Mexico, Colombia, and South Africa – where she lived for two years. She is a psychotherapist, trainer, consultant, and coach. She has worked with people across the US, the UK, Mexico, South America, Spain, Switzerland, Brussels, Trinidad and Tobago, New Zealand, Australia, Fiji, and South Africa, where she lived for two years. As a Senior Trainer for the More To Life Foundation, she has also led courses for the Federal Bureau of Prisons in Texas and California. She has been a consultant for the New Mexico State Prison System. She is the author of "Lifeshocks Out of the Blue: Learning from your Life's Experiences," available on Amazon.com. She loves working with people and learning about new ways to make a difference in the world.  You can check her out at www.annmcmaster.com. Why are people struggling these days more and more with unresolved and at time deteriorating problems in health and wellness, lack of contentment and declined quality of life? This is a REAL question in our current world! In this episode we discuss the complexity of human's dynamics, the crucial roles of emotions in either causing a disease or facilitating the process of healing, and how humans truly need a deeper regulation in their nervous system and the WHOLE complex dynamics, rather than relying on the quick fix approaches. Our guest speaker today, Dr Suzanne Henwood is a neuroscience based coach and counselor. She works with an integrated toolbox to assist people to deeply reconnect with themselves to find their own inner wisdom. Suzanne started her professional life in Radiography, moving into education and over 25 years headed up Postgraduate Education in Healthcare in a London University, later moving to New Zealand and spending nearly a decade as an Associate professor for Health and Social Sciences. Along the way she began her exploration of what makes people tick. Why do some people excel? Why do some struggle? What impact does the environment play, especially around bullying, toxicity, isolation, exclusion and the difference true leadership plays at an individual and corporate level. Today Suzanne draws on NLP, mBraining, Havening, ACT, IDT, Refocusing Counselling, Heartmath, Solution Focused Brief Therapy, Polyvagal Informed Therapy, Emotional Culture Deck, Time Line Therapy, Map of Meaning, Breathwork, Mindfulness, Psych K+, Existential Coaching and years of study and application to focus on deep inner change, stress, anxiety and trauma, and helping people to find wholeness and healing. Suzanne is an author, speaker and regular contributor to The Great Health Guide and Rapport, and Worldwide Coaching Magazines, and in 2022 she was a finalist in the ANLP Awards for education and research. In August 2022 her latest book is being published, co authored with Sarah Carruthers: The Ultimate Gratitude Journal. I hope you find some lights of wisdom here. You're going to get so much from this insightful episode of the Quiet Connections Podcast if you're struggling with either setting and keeping your boundaries; people pleasing and putting other people before yourself (and perhaps even feeling resentful); someone bullying or refusing to speak with you; and difficulties self-regulating to keep yourself out of fight, flight, freeze mode.Dr Suzanne Henwood joins us to explore the topics of boundaries, bullying and self-regulating - so that you can have those courageous conversations to maintain your boundaries when you need to. In this episode, you'll discover new perspectives on people pleasing and 'dumb compassion'; feeling emotionally safe and flexing and maintaining boundaries. Suzanne clearly explains how we 'fall down the ladder' from being regulated, calm and balanced, to feeling fighty, flighty or freezey. What's more, throughout this episode, Suzanne offers some helpful ways to gently bring yourself out of the fight-flight-freeze state that we can experience when our boundaries are crossed, or we feel unsafe, or we're experiencing social anxiety, and into a more balanced place where we can connect with integrity and uphold our boundaries when we need to. It's an absolute joy to introduce you to Suzanne Henwood. About our GuestDr Suzanne Henwood is a stress and anxiety coach; one of only 2 Master Trainers and Master Coaches in mBIT globally, and an NLP Trainer who works closely with ANLP (the Association of NLP) and is the International Ambassador for ANLP in New Zealand. Kiki Athanas knows that a solid relationship with our own mind, body, and soul is so much more important than being “perfect” when it comes to healthy eating. This self described “Ex-Perfectionist” talks with Ciara about how she finally turned around her relationship with food after trying almost every diet and eating fad out there. Now, she coaches and guides busy and powerful women to change their mindset when it comes to food and to really use their intuition to find what works best for their bodies. Kiki and Ciara also share some tips on being more mindful when eating, freedom from emotional eating, and where to begin even if you feel far away from optimal health. In this episode, you will learn more about:How to begin to create a better relationship between yourself and food. When we try to be “perfect” about our eating and our diet, it can turn unhealthy and become an obsession. The real power is within the flow of knowing we have a choice to pick what foods make you feel great. Kiki shares how she used the technique of mBraining to connect her heart, brain, and gut to all be working in tandem with each other instead of being out of sync. It's usually never about the food itself, it's more about the stored and blocked emotions that we use food to distract ourselves and push these uncomfortable feelings down. Kiki shares more about her 6-week collectives where she works with women to get into the flow of their feminine energy and really connect to their own bodies. Why hunger gets a bad rap! Intuitive eating doesn't mean eating everything in sight just because it's there, nor does it mean eating junk food non stop! Eating is simple and life is hard, but often we get the two backwards. The body loves and craves variety. The more diverse your microbiome, the healthier your immune system. When it comes to eating in a way that supports your health, you don't need to learn something new, it's a relearning of what you already know and carving out blockages so you can reconnect with what's there. Food is one of the most abused drugs out there. Kiki and Ciara also help women build trust in themselves and see that they have their own back and can show up and be accountable for themselves instead of always putting others or their work first. Choosing to not eat something can absolutely come from a place of abundance. Three deep breaths to get you into coherence where your gut brains. Your body makes the rules and tells you, and it's your job to pay attention. The poison is in the amount in the foods your body can not tolerate well. Once you heal you may be able to incorporate a small amount. Work with where you are. The more you are out there living your dream life, the less you will want to overeat. Say Hi To Ciara At:www.ciarafoy.comMore: The Ex-Perfectionist mBraining Study on how choice can bring brain back into balance Kyla Fox CentreUndieting

Beth Gray, coach extraordinaire, focuses her practice on brain, heart, and gut alignment. As an mBraining coach, she works to get to the root of decision making that aligns the 3 decision-making centers in our bodies. Her journey began as a Tax Attorney. Along the way, she continued to learn more and more about the body's alignments and misalignments through her own physical pains she experienced when making and following through on decisions that she made based purely on her decision-making mind; not taking into account her heart and gut (intuition). As she began to heal herself, she learned about the practice of mBraining and the importance of brain, heart, & gut alignment. Suzanne Henwood Dr Suzanne Henwood is a Master Trainer and Master Coach of mBraining. One of only two in the world, she is passionate about helping people reconnect to themselves (and to each other) in wise and compassionate ways using the very latest applied neuroscience that enables people to rewire themselves from the inside. Suzanne started life as a Diagnostic Radiographer in the UK, with a special interest in trauma work. She worked at national level with her professional body and the Department of Health to improve standards for patients, while also looking how to improve the professional competency and safety of workers. Taking on a number of roles, to learn new skills and get greater insight, Suzanne eventually achieved her dream of being in the Professoriate, when she moved to New Zealand in 2008.  But, as is so often in life, sometimes what we strive for is not really the asnwer. She found herself in a bullying and toxic work environment and saw people really struggling. People who were great at what they do but who were not led, or supported to be the best they can be at work.  So she pulled together a life times work and passion into two companies: mBraining4Success (mbraining4success.com) is where she teaches people about their mutiple brains and she goes round the world teaching Coaches, Master Coaches and Trainers in the amazing new field of mBIT / mBraining: How to use your multiple brains to do cool stuff. She talks of this being transformational in her own life. She works with individuals and organisations to help them reduce stress, build resilience and enhance psychological safety and she does this under the banner of her second company The Healthy Workplace (the-healthy-workplace.com).  Suzanne is all about supporting others to be the best they can be – so that they can serve in the world. She passionately believes that we need to find new ways to do life and work for the sake of all of us.

The word blockchain can create a whole range of emotions ranging from excitement to fear. In this podcast we had the pleasure to have Mark Simpson, Head of Consultancy at Armour Risk, take us through the Psychology of Blockchain.   What is blockchain? Mark prefer to lift it to describe what Distributed Ledger Technology is (of which blockchain is a type of DLT) Simply - Digital and decentralised books of record A bit more complex - DLT is a database held and updated independently by each participant (or node) in a network – the distributed bit. Updates to the ledger are independently constructed and recorded by each node. The nodes then vote on these updates (different methods) to ensure that the majority agrees with the conclusion reached. This voting and agreement on one copy of the ledger is called consensus, and is conducted automatically by a consensus algorithm. Once consensus has been reached, the distributed ledger updates itself and the latest, agreed-upon version of the ledger is saved on each node separately.  The immutable bit. The DLT attributes are Distributed Transparent & change evident Consensus driven Immutable record Tamper proof Cryptographically secure In three words - Digitally Lifting Trust Fear and DLT as a catalyst for change In many ways DLT is like other forms of technology in that it is a catalyst for change, but as it challenges from more than a tech point of view it brings other challenges. DLT challenges paradigms; values, identity and this can be tough. According to Mark our view of the world and decision making is in fact distributed and doesn’t just occur in our head.  As a coach one of the methods Mark has trained in was multiple intelligences (or mbraining for short). Mbraining developed by Grant Soosalu & Marvin Oka used findings in Neuroscience that show we have three functioning brains in our head, heart and gut respectively. Using these findings as the basis for further behavioural modelling research, they unpacked some of the unconscious processes we use with our head, heart and gut. It is a body of knowledge that has really helped from a change perspective and is being used in a framework Mark has developed called Resilient Changing. Mark wrote an article on the topic of change a couple of years ago:  https://www.linkedin.com/pulse/meeting-challenges-change-part-1-mark-simpson/ In summary we have The head brain – highest expression - creativity Cognitive Perception- cognition, perception, pattern recognition, etc. Thinking – reasoning, abstraction, analysis, synthesis, meta-cognition etc. Making Meaning – semantic processing, language, narrative, metaphor, etc.s The heart brain – highest expression is compassion Emoting– emotional processing (e.g. anger, grief, hatred, joy, happiness etc.) Values – processing what’s important to you and your priorities (and its relationship to the emotional strength of your aspirations, dreams, desires, etc.) Relational affect – your felt connection with others (e.g. feelings of love, hate, indifference, compassion, uncaring, like, dislike, etc.) The gut brain – highest expression - Courage Core Identity – a deep and visceral sense of core self, and determining at the deepest levels what is ‘self’ versus ‘not-self’ Self-preservation – protection of self, safety, boundaries, hungers and aversions Mobilisation – motility, impulse for action, gutsy courage and the will to act   Fear and blockchain What is fear - An unpleasant emotion caused by the real or perceived threat of danger, pain, or harm? What could this mean from a blockchain perspective?   Head brain All this new terminology – I don’t understand it, or I don’t want to admit I don’t understand it – examples – DLT = Blockchain = Bitcoin = environmental damage, money laundering, There is a lot of evidence that many people in organisation do not understand blockchain an...

Did you know you can support the podcast to make it better? It is a little known fact that there are approximately 40,000 neurons in the human heart and around 500 million in our stomachs. Together these neurons are sometimes referred to as "little brains". The heart and stomach are connected to each other and to our brains via the vagus nerve. 80% of the information traveling on this path goes from the stomach and heart to the brain. This means that a huge amount of information comes from the neurons of the stomach and heart to the brain, helping us to make choices all day long. On some level we already know this because we use phrases like "I have this gut feeling that..." or "My heart is tell me to…" The process of mBraining uses this information in a deliberate way to create healing and transformation. Andy Bryce and his wife Maxine are certified in mBraining and are the first people in the world to combine it with tapping. In this interview Andy talks about mBraining, how it can be combined with tapping, and he gives a demonstration where he works with me on an issue I am struggling with.
