This episode is dedicated to honor the memory of Barb Ziegler, the founder of The Trailhead Community. "We are here to celebrate tonight, the opening of this building...we are not at the end of the trail. We are still working on making the trail longer, stronger, and more connected for more people to help solve the greater problem in this community {independent living for IDD adults}." This episode revisits The Trailhead Community at their building opening and ribbon cutting ceremony. In the first hour of today's edition of The Dan Caplis Show, Dan talks about how today saw Donald Trump's ICE raids hit Colorado and the Denver Metro area. Dan looks at what this means for Mayor Johnston, what his response might be, and how this is another victory for President Trump.
After catching up on some youth sports, we try to figure out if the ARC Thrift Shops in the Denver Metro area are reuse/recycle centers or just a huge garbage can. Nutcracker Massacre: A sentient, ambulatory nutcracker kills people as it tries to find its own version of the Sugarplum Fairy. Apparently it's animated by some jewels that some dude ate one time 100 years ago. Ten minutes of exposition in the middle of the movie does all the work in making you understand how/why this is happening. One guy gets his nuts ripped off with a nutcracker. The evil creature should have been able to talk. Nutcracker Massacre final grade: Steve didn't even like the premise of this one. Too much drama made a movie that was already not going to cut it even worse. 2.09/5.0 Brandon At one point, it looked like this movie might hit the right spots as a "silly thing comes to life and kills people in funny ways" kinda movie, but that only happened once. The rest of it was pretty boring. 2.27/5.0 Cocktail of the Week: Spiced Cranberry Bourbon 2 oz Bourbon 1 oz Unsweetened Cranberry Juice 1/2 oz Orange Liqueur 1/2 oz Spiced Cranberry Syrup Combine ingredients in a mixing glass. Stir to chill and combine. Strain over ice in a rocks glass. Garnish with a handful of cranberries, a cinnamon stick, and/or a dried orange wheel, if you've got one. Cocktail Grade: Looks, smells, and tastes like Christmas in a glass. Great flavor that's perfect for enjoying around the Yule Log. Highly recommended for making this movie or holiday gatherings more palatable. 4.9/5 ------------------ Contact us with feedback or cocktail/movie recommendations to: boozeandbmovies@gmail.com X: @boozeandbmovies Instagram: @boozeandbmovies Threads: @boozeandbmovies www.facebook.com/boozeandbmovies --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/boozeandbmovies/support

Today on Sense of Soul podcast we have another one of my dear friends with me, Dixie Chubb. She is a Massage Therapist and Reiki Master who has touch many lives through her work. Our paths crossed years ago, when I had the pleasure of working with her at a local spa here in Colorado. Years ago I had recommended the book The New Earth, The Power of Now by Eckhart Tolle to Dixie and like it was life changing for myself, it was for Dixie as well. Which led her to explore the concepts of stoicism, non-attachment, and the power of NOW. Dixie's journey has been one of self-discovery and growth, and she has been kind enough to share her story with us on today's episode. Dixie shares losing her mother at a young age, and reflects on the beautiful example of love and kindness her mother demonstrated in her life, and what an inspiration she was. Over the years Dixie has found many tools that have helped her to heal, grow and bloom over the years, and she hopes that her story can touch others in the same way. If you're interested in contacting Dixie, looking for a fabulous massage therapist or Reiki practitioner in Denver Metro area, you can email her at transformmassage@hotmail.com. Multifamily fundamentals have cooled in most markets nationwide, but Denver is maintaining its strength. As one of the few markets still seeing annual rent growth, the Mile High City is well positioned in the current market turbulence. As David Polewchak, Vice President of Asset Management at Orion Real Estate Partners, explains, supply is starting to wane, while demand has been steady across metro Denver. In-migration continues, bolstering occupancy and rent growth. Opportunities in suburban Denver and smaller cities along the Front Range exist, as infrastructure development and work from home policies allow Denver workers to live in many places from Fort Collins to Colorado Springs. Check out this week's podcast for more information on the state of multifamily in Colorado.Explore our website for more insights and resources: https://bit.ly/3XBKJGH.

As primary care providers, it's easy to assess a patient based on the symptoms and circumstances they present with when they walk in the door. However, patients who had adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) may have psychological injuries from that trauma that are more difficult to recognize. These patients also have a lifelong risk for health problems. What if healthcare professionals changed their mindset from “what is wrong with this child?” to “what has happened to this child?” In this episode, we explore childhood trauma with two experts and dive into the concept of trauma-informed pediatric care. Guests: Lyndsay Jensen Gaffey, LPC, is the Director of Patient Care Services for the Pediatric Mental Health Institute at Children's Hospital Colorado. Steven Berkowitz, MD, works in the child and adolescent physiatry unit at Children's Hospital Colorado and is the Director of the START (Stress, Trauma, Research and Treatment) Center. Dr. Berkowitz is also a professor at the University of Colorado School of Medicine.
