Welcome to the Overflow Podcast. This podcast will bring you weekly practical and spiritual talks by our Pastors here at New River Church.
Why I Choose to Trust the Bible - Voddie BauchamCold Case Christianity
On our final episode of the season, our Pastors are doing a deep dive conversation on baptism. What does the Bible teach us about Baptism? Why is it important? Who should be baptized? Listen in and join us for our baptism service on June 30th!
In this episode, we're catching up on Sunday and pulling a quote from Pastor Ryan's message to answer the question, "Does God really see me?" Is God really interested in my day-to-day life? Some people might find it easier to believe that Jesus died on the cross for them 2000 years ago than to believe that God is interested in every detail of your life here in 2024. If you feel lost, confused, or unseen by God, we hope you'll listen and be encouraged to start a dialogue with God today.
In this episode, all the New River pastors join us for a conversation on the topic of "Communion." How was it established? Why do we participate in it? How do some beliefs about communion vary and what does New River believe about communion? We're answering all this and more today on The Overflow!
In this episode we're talking about the response time on Sunday at New River, some Christian culture controversy and how Christians can respond, and Pastor Alex teaches us about God giving us a new song and the biblical basis for "spontaneous" worship.

Our pastors are back for a conversation on Bible verses that are commonly taken out of context or misapplied. Context is so important in understanding God's nature, His promises, and how we can appropriately apply His Word to our personal lives!
In this episode, we're talking about the release of New River Worship's first album, "The Invitation." We're sharing some more stories of how this album came to be and then Pastor Alex takes us through some passages as he teaches us about Godly compassion.
In this episode, we are recapping the weekend and talking about what God did at New River over the course of The Move and Sunday services. We had plans to talk about God's kindness and compassion, but we'll look at that next week!
In this episode, Pastor Ryan is sharing "Christophanies" in the Bible. This term refers to the possible, or likely, appearances of the pre-incarnate Jesus in the Old Testament. Listen in as they go through multiple accounts in the OT that allude to the physical presence of Jesus.

Fear of The Lord is the beginning of wisdom. It is both a starting place and a place Christians should humble themselves and return to. The Bible has much to say about fearing God. In this episode, we're talking about what it is, why it's important, and how we can live with a holy fear of God that keeps us close to Him.
Our good friend Charlee Buitrago joined us for our final episode of season 9! Charlee has been part of the New River family for nearly a decade. We're thankful he stopped by to share his wisdom and perspective on various aspects of living the Christ life, discipleship, and ministry altogether. Thank you, Charlee!
We're back after Thanksgiving break and recapping what's been going on the last couple of weeks. We're also diving back into the topic of angles since Hebrews 1 talks so much about them, and we round out our conversation with the age-old question: "Why do bad things happen to good people."

Pastor Dusty Brackett is joining us on the podcast today sharing his life, history with God, and all that has led him to this point of becoming our Executive Pastor at New River. He's also sharing his hopes, vision, and all he is looking forward to in this new role. Thank you, Pastor Dusty. We're glad your here!
Today we're tackling the topic of "manifestation." This practice is not a new concept, but it is constantly being revamped and repackaged and can be so sneaky that well-meaning Christians might believe they can follow Jesus AND practice manifestation. The truth is, these are two opposing beliefs and practices. Manifestation is a practice that opposes the truth of the Gospel and the supremecy of Christ. In this episode we're talking about God's Kingdom, angels, demons, and how we can REST in Christ.

Alex is taking us on a journey through the Bible to show examples of sacrificial praise, and how praise is both a physical and spiritual exchange. Alex shares passages from the Bible to plead the case for high praise with our bodies, our lips, and our hearts. High praise indicates a high view of Christ and what He endured to save us from the eternity in Hell we were destined for without Him.
Our friend and certainly a spiritual dad around New River, Park Gillespie, has probably forgotten more about the Bible and the history of our faith than most of us will ever learn. He is a WELL of knowledge and his heart overflows with affection for Jesus and brothers and sisters in the faith. Honestly, just press play and buckle up. There is so much wisdom in this conversation with Park on The Overflow Podcast about his life, history with God, and thoughts on various theological topics.

In 2011, Caleb Graves walked out of church after a worship service and saw two men pushing a car to a gas station. He heard the Lord tell him to help them. In a split second, a drunk driver crashed into them pinning Caleb between the two cars and completely severing his left leg. Today on The Overflow Podcast, our friend Caleb is sharing his testimony of God's goodness and faithfulness in the midst of pain, suffering, and questioning. The episode is available now wherever you get your podcasts. Be blessed!
