What does it really mean to love like Jesus? It starts with humility, a willingness to serve, and the courage to get into the mess of life with other people. In John 13, Jesus took a towel and washed His disciples' feet, then told them to do the same for one another. That moment was not just a lesson in manners. It was a blueprint for how the kingdom of God actually works. In the kingdom of God, greatness is not measured by platforms, titles, or influence. It is measured by service. The servant is always the greatest, not the one being served. Grabbing a towel means being willing to show up for people who are broken, being patient with people who are still growing, and being present for people who have never experienced genuine love. Ephesians 5 gives us a picture of what this love looks like in covenant relationship. Christ gave Himself for the church so that He could present her holy and without blemish. That sacrificial, sanctifying love is the model for how we are called to treat one another. And it traces all the way back to Genesis, where the story of Adam and Eve foreshadows the relationship between Christ and His bride, the church. First Corinthians 13 makes it clear that without agape love, everything else we do is empty. Gifts, prophecy, faith, and knowledge are all good things, but if they are not rooted in genuine love, they produce no lasting fruit. God is not impressed by what we do. He is moved by why we do it. In John 21, Jesus asked Peter three times whether he loved Him. Each time, the answer led to the same instruction: feed My sheep. Loving Jesus is not a private feeling. It is a commission to serve the people around us. Topics covered include servant leadership, agape love, the meaning of Ephesians 5, the connection between the Garden of Eden and the cross, 1 Corinthians 13 in everyday life, and what it practically looks like to love others the way Christ loves us.

SHOW NOTES   In Podcast Episode 382, “Turning Points in History,” Kim discusses how turning points in history affect us, whether they be personal turning points or those of nations. In today's text, we see a turning point in the history of the nation of Israel: the fall of Jerusalem. God had consistently sent His prophets, especially Jeremiah, to warn the people of the consequences they would experience for their sinful lifestyles, but they refused to heed the warnings. May we learn from their bad choices, as well as our own turning points, and live lives wholly surrendered to the Lord.   Our focal passage for this episode is 2 Kings 25:1-21 and 2 Chronicles 36:17-21, with 2 Chronicles 36:17-21 as the focal verses:   17 So the Lord brought the king of Babylon against them. The Babylonians killed Judah's young men, even chasing after them into the Temple. They had no pity on the people, killing both young men and young women, the old and the infirm. God handed all of them over to Nebuchadnezzar. 18 The king took home to Babylon all the articles, large and small, used in the Temple of God, and the treasures from both the Lord's Temple and from the palace of the king and his officials. 19 Then his army burned the Temple of God, tore down the walls of Jerusalem, burned all the palaces, and completely destroyed everything of value. 20 The few who survived were taken as exiles to Babylon, and they became servants to the king and his sons until the kingdom of Persia came to power. 21 So the message of the Lord spoken through Jeremiah was fulfilled. Where do our deepest loyalties belong? Reflecting on stories of faith, sacrifice, and gratitude, this sermon reminds us that while we can give thanks for our country and its blessings, our ultimate allegiance is to Jesus Christ. Only His love, freedom, and presence can truly sustain us, calling us to serve others with humility and to find lasting rest in Him.

SHOW NOTES   In Podcast Episode 381, “Defining Moment vs. Moment of Defiance,” Kim discusses the similarities and differences between King Zedekiah of Judah and Samson. Both leaders had opportunities in the midst of great adversity to cry out to God, but only one used his voice to beg God to intervene. What became a defining moment for Samson was only one last moment of defiance for Zedekiah, and his life and legacy are found lacking.   Our focal passage for this episode is 2 Kings 25:1-7, with 7 as the focal verse:   7 They made Zedekiah watch as they slaughtered his sons. Then they gouged out Zedekiah's eyes, bound him in bronze chains, and led him away to Babylon.   Lagniappe:   21 So the Philistines captured him and gouged out his eyes. SHOW NOTES   In Podcast Episode 379, “Refusing to Humble Oneself,” Kim discusses the last king of Judah and some lessons listeners can learn from his bad choices. This is the first in a mini-series on the Fall of Jerusalem and the insights we can glean from what led to its consequences. Sadly, Zedekiah seemed like a fitting king to be on the throne as the last bits of the once God-fearing nation are taken into captivity for the evil lives they chose to live and the carnage they left in their wake.   Our focal passage for this episode is 2 Chronicles 36:11-16 and Jeremiah 37:1-10, with 2 Chronicles 36:12-13 and Jeremiah 37:2 and 37:17 as the focal verses:   12 But Zedekiah did what was evil in the sight of the Lord his God, and he refused to humble himself when the prophet Jeremiah spoke to him directly from the Lord. 13 He also rebelled against King Nebuchadnezzar, even though he had taken an oath of loyalty in God's name. Zedekiah was a hard and stubborn man, refusing to turn to the Lord, the God of Israel.   2 But neither King Zedekiah nor his attendants nor the people who were left in the land listened to what the Lord said through Jeremiah.   17 Later King Zedekiah secretly requested that Jeremiah come to the palace, where the king asked him, “Do you have any messages from the Lord?” “Yes, I do!” said Jeremiah. “You will be defeated by the king of Babylon.”     WEEKLY ENGAGEMENT FEATURE:   When you hear the phrase “refusing to humble oneself,” does anyone immediately come to your mind? SHOW NOTES   In Podcast Episode 378, “Stone Cold Response to the Word of the Lord,” Kim discusses the dangers of allowing our hearts to be hardened to God's Word. Recently, we examined the tender heart of King Josiah and how hearing God's Word changed him and how he led. This week, we see that his son Jehoiakim's heart was as hard as Josiah's was tender. How tender or hard is your heart to God's Word?   Our focal passage for this episode is Jeremiah 36:1-32, with 21-25 as the focal verses:   21 The king sent Jehudi to get the scroll. Jehudi brought it from Elishama's room and read it to the king as all his officials stood by. 22 It was late autumn, and the king was in a winterized part of the palace, sitting in front of a fire to keep warm. 23 Each time Jehudi finished reading three or four columns, the king took a knife and cut off that section of the scroll. SHOW NOTES   In Podcast Episode 375, “Choosing to Respond to God's Word,” Kim discusses the importance of surrendering to the power of God's Word to change you. So many times, we approach God's Word without opening our hearts and minds to be changed by what we find there. May we learn from the example of King Josiah as he reacted to the initial reading of God's Word and then went on to publicly respond and challenge others to respond.   Our focal passage for this episode is 2 Chronicles 34:29-33, and with 30-31 as the focal verses:   30 And the king went up to the Temple of the Lord with all the people of Judah and Jerusalem, along with the priests and the Levites—all the people from the greatest to the least. SHOW NOTES   In Podcast Episode 369, “For All Who Think They Are Too Far Gone,” Kim discusses King Manasseh and the miraculous turn his life took. He went from leading others down one of the darkest paths imaginable to humbly surrendering to the Lord. SHOW NOTES   In Podcast Episode 367, “You Can Bid on This Showcase,” Kim discusses the dangers of mistaken objects and people as our property instead of as ours to steward for the Lord. In today's scriptures, King Hezekiah looked as though he were the host of the ancient version of the game show “The Price Is Right.” He had moved from being grateful for all the Lord had placed in his path to acting as though he were the owner. SHOW NOTES   In Podcast Episode 366, “Proper Response to a Move of God,” Kim discusses the multiple movements of God that King Hezekiah experienced and how we can learn from his response. During the first part of his reign, Hezekiah saw God move in his people and on their behalf, and Hezekiah consistently pointed the people to God and gave him glory. Yet, sadly, as time went on, instead of using what the Lord was doing as opportunities to point to the greatness of God, Hezekiah became proud. This story, as well as next week's, should challenge each of us to be intentional about remembering where the glory goes.   Our focal passage for this episode is 2 Chronicles 32:24-26, with 25 as the focal verse:   24 About that time Hezekiah became deathly ill. He prayed to the Lord, who healed him and gave him a miraculous sign. 25 But Hezekiah did not respond appropriately to the kindness shown him, and he became proud. Today Pastor Ricky will be emphasizing the Lord's command to love each other the same way that Christ has loved us. The apostle Paul says that he who is spiritual should restore such a one that has fallen with gentleness. You should love to the point where you will exhort and love other believers toward repentance. When some believers correct someone, it's often in the spirit of self-righteousness, not love. Do you care about others enough to sacrifice your time and energy and reach out?

Do love others as humbly as Jesus loves others? The Lord loves you regardless of merit and regardless of your status. Jesus said and by this, all will know that you are my disciples by the love you have for one another. We're all sinners saved by grace so we have no good reason to love others with respect to their merit. If you have a problem having unconditional love for others, it may be because you don't understand God's unconditional love for you.

The story of Jesus calming the storm and bringing freedom and healing to the demon-possed man, reveals the character of God. How could you not fall madly in love with Jesus? Pastor Ricky will be continuing his teaching on the character of Christ and falling more in love with Him. the man that had been demon-possessed begged Jesus that he might go with Him. For many believers, following Jesus becomes an obligation, not this man. He fell in love with Jesus.

When the disciples asked Christ what laws they should keep, Jesus said to them, “Love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind, and with all your strength”. All the commandments are summed up in this. In this text today, Pastor Ricky will be teaching on the importance of falling in love with the real Jesus. Many people worship a Jesus that they make in their own image, a Jesus that they're more comfortable with. Are you worshipping the Jesus of the Bible or an idol you've made?

SHOW NOTES   In Podcast Episode 365, “Time Truly Is in God's Hands,” Kim discusses the request of King Hezekiah for more time. Hezekiah was approached by the prophet Isaiah and told he was going to die and to get his affairs in order. Hezekiah did not panic but immediately turned to the Lord and poured out his pain and preference. The Lord chose to provide a miracle of more time, but also a miracle of growth in Hezekiah, who stated, “This anguish was good for me.” The Lord doesn't always answer our request for more time in the way we think He should, but we can be comforted knowing time is still in His control, and He can help us make the most of every moment given.   Our focal passage for this episode is 2 Kings 20:1-11, with 2-3 as the focal verses:   2 When Hezekiah heard this, he turned his face to the wall and prayed to the Lord, 3 “Remember, O Lord, how I have always been faithful to you and have served you single-mindedly, always doing what pleases you.” Then he broke down and wept bitterly.     WEEKLY ENGAGEMENT FEATURE:   Have you ever prayed for more time?
