The meticulously researched novel sits as a good model that follows how viral outbreaks progress as different aspects of life fail to acknowledge the threat, only the virus Brooks wrote about makes people into ravenous zombies that in turn eat the living. It is a brilliant piece of writing that was turned into a decent movie whose only similarity to the book is the name.
