Having a nemesis is bad enough, but having a Star Trek Nemesis? Oof, it doesn't get worse than that, because when Star Trek goes bad, it goes real bad. And sometimes it gets so bad, the franchise full on dies. Sad times. It's been quite the ride, watching this whole era of Star Trek, but as we learned from The Next Generation, all good things must come to an end. So join us for the end of Golden Age Trek as we watch this final TNG movie. Episode discussion starts at 31:16. This is the final episode in our look at The Waning Enterprise. Hosted by Jaron Hatch, Marc Nielsen, with Jake Barnes, Mindy Barnes, & Ellen Lewis. Email us at storiedstartrek@gmail.com Visit our Discord Server at https://discord.gg/6ynq25Zvkh
Hosted by Andrew Quinn and Darren Mooney, The 250 is a (mostly) weekly trip through some of the best (and worst) movies ever made, as voted for by Internet Movie Database Users. New episodes are released every second Saturday at 6pm GMT, with the occasional bonus episode between them. This week, Stuart Baird's Star Trek: Nemesis. A mysterious regime change on Romulus presents the Federation with an unprecedented opportunity for peace. The Enterprise is dispatched into Romulan space in the hopes of forging an alliance with a long-term enemy. However, Captain Jean Luc Picard quickly discovers the mysterious new leader of the Romulan Star Empire, Shinzon of Remus, has a very familiar face. Picard's past comes back to confront him. At time of recording, it was not ranked on the list of the best movies of all time on the Internet Movie Database.

We're getting close to the end of our current Spotlight Series, looking at the Star Trek pilots, with Star Trek Picard's "Remembrance". This episode is our first look at Jean-Luc Picard since the end of Star Trek Nemesis. We know that this episode kicks off three seasons, reuniting the cast of TNG, for one final voyage. There is a lot of opinions on the first season of Picard, but one thing is certain: it was great seeing Patrick Stewart and the cast once again!

Ever wanted to see TNG turn into a mindless action franchise? Yeah, neither did we, but here we are anyway. It's “Star Trek: Nemesis” on this very special episode of ST:TNGeez, Not Another Star Trek Podcast, and it's coming at you right about . . . NOW!The final frontier is reached at last as we enjoy this final “Next Generation” motion picture extravaganza! In an unexpected maneuver, the newly ascended praetor of the Romulan Empire requests a visit from the Enterprise E! Picard hightails it to the Romulan homeworld without the common courtesy of dropping off the newlywed Troi and Riker. What could be so pressing as to lead our classy captain to commit such a faux pas? How about a coup that places the mysterious Shinzon in the role of predator of the empire backed by his equally mysterious Reman “brothers”? (Are there any female Remans? If so, where are they?) The command crew beams down to Shinzon's goth palace for a chat, and as a welcome gift, Shinzon offers some of his blood. Sounds gross until Bev analyzes the blood to discover that Shinzon is a clone of Jean-Luc! (Which is still gross, but at least there's a point to it, kinda.)Meanwhile, the Enterprise just happens to stumble onto yet another Soong-type android scattered across a desert planet. Picard drags Worf and Data on a dune buggy ride to retrieve the bits and reassemble them into an android that looks just like Data. They deduce it's a prototype that just happens to be named . . . B-4. Seriously. That's its name. It has the brain of a Pakled and a jumpsuit to match. Seems they don't make clones the way they used to. But things kick into gear when Shinzon begins to implement his master plan involving the deadly Thalaron radiation! How is B-4 linked to Shinzon and his master plan? What is his master plan anyway? Why does he need Picard's blood so badly? Why is his suit so tight? (that has to chafe!) Do they not have dentists on Romulus? Found out in this all new episode of ST:TNGeez, Not Another Star Trek Podcast!Even more available at: https://tngeez.com
Wiz RECOMMENDS Star Trek: Nemesis Honestly, all this movie did was confirm what my suspicions were when I reviewed Star Trek: Generations: These series of films requires you to already be well versed in the characters and their story lines because these films will not bring you up to speed. On top of that, don't expect much in the way of character moving forward whether it's the crew or the villains. The focus seems to be solely on action and having fights in space and hand to hand. Star Trek: Nemesis basically takes the entire formula of the last few films and spins it into a whole different yarn. Which means all of the criticisms with the last three movies stand: character work isn't good, there's some light moments but there's a good amount of action. And honestly, the only thing that prevents this from being a dud is that the action is actually pretty good. Hell, the entire second half of the film is one long, drawn out action sequence that was pretty entertaining. But even a shockingly young (and bald) Tom Hardy can't make this plot all that interesting or entertaining. But again, to reiterate, I've never watched any of "Star Trek: The Next Generation". Maybe watching it and coming back to these films may change my mind, but the films are not a great way to introduce these beloved characters to someone with no previous experience with them like me.

Season 4, Episode 61: Interview with Eileen Weisinger (Warrior Woman) from John Carpenter's “Ghosts of Mars” (2001) Such an incredible actress with a great outlook on life! I love how she shared her story about being a stunt woman; after all the movies she has been in, she has quite the impressive career. Essentially this movie is Assault on Precinct 13, add a helping of The Thing, and throw in a pinch of Escape from New York, three of John Carpenter's best-loved films. She was also a stunt performer in a plethora of notable movies: I Am Number Four, Iron Man 2, Tekken, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning, Star Trek: Nemesis, Not Another Teen Movie, Swordfish, Dracula 2000 and Mimic 2 – just to name a few. But had character roles in the first Iron Man in 2008, The Babysitter, and many more.

We're back from hiatus and for our return, we wanted to pick an exciting, uplifting movie that would match our excitement of being back…and for some reason, we chose Star Trek: Nemesis. The movie that ended the golden era of Star Trek is truly a depressing watch. It's dark, rapey, and far from the optimistic future depicted in The Next Generation's 7-year TV run. We certainly had our work cut out for us imagining a rewrite for this one. Still, it's good to be back! Thanks for your patience while we were away, we're excited to bring you new movie rewrites all summer long.

Director Stuart Baird attempts to navigate the complex waters of Star Trek lore, bringing a darker tone to the franchise. The thematic exploration of identity, through the lens of Picard and his clone, offers a compelling study of nature versus nurture. However, the execution falls short of its ambitious premise. *This episode contains discussions of fictional sexual assault.*

Whatever Gordon Goodwin touches, whether it's in his role as pianist, saxophonist, composer, arranger, conductor - or any combination of these gifts - it's all about his love of music. That love, and prodigious talent has brought him 25 Grammy® nominations, including three this year: Best Jazz Vocal Album: Patti Austin Featuring Gordon Goodwin's Big Phat Band - For Ella 2. Best Instrumental Composition: Quartet San Francisco Featuring Gordon Goodwin's Big Phat Band - Cutey and The Dragon, Composed by Raymond Scott and Gordon Goodwin. Best Arrangement, Instruments, and Vocals: Patti Austin ft. Gordon Goodwin's Big Phat Band - April in Paris, Arranged by Gordon Goodwin. Gordon's collection already includes a Grammy® for ‘Best Instrumental Arrangement' for “Incredits” in the film The Incredibles and has been honored with 3 Emmy awards for his work on the Steven Spielberg-produced shows Animaniacs and Pinky and the Brain. His work has been featured/utilized in more than 80 film & TV productions spanning the gamut of pop culture, amplifying the likes of National Treasure, Star Trek: Nemesis, Snakes on a Plane, Get Smart, Remember the Titans, The Sorcerer's Apprentice, The Majestic (starring Jim Carrey), The Lion King, The Incredibles and Ratatouille. “I look at that number and it shocks me every time. I still find it difficult to believe that the members of the Recording Academy have given me 25 Grammy® nominations for my work. I don't think you ever get used to it and the three most recent nominations seem somehow more precious than ever. I had the good fortune to be involved in two projects that were close to my heart in the past year, and happily, both were acknowledged by the Recording Academy.” While this episode focuses primarily on the nominations for the current Grammy® season, we cover a lot of ground with Gordon in our conversation.
Revisiting the Last TNG Film Star Trek: Nemesis spelled the end of The Next Generation era of Trek. It was the best of times, it was the worst of times - depending on how you felt about this film! Heralded as a grand exit for the TNG crew, it left most fans feeling indifferent or disappointed. The BIG Sci-Fi crew decided to watch it again (some of us for the first time in years!) to see if we would feel differently about it having watched with fresh eyes and a more mature perspective. You'll have to listen to find out what we think about the film that sent the TNG crew packing...at least until Picard rolled around (thank God!). Its not October 3rd, but thats ok. Got a bit of a doozy this week, Sony scrubs all mention of the KotoR Remake from their socails, and acts like its perfectly normal, several Ubisoft execs were arrested by French Police, and the French Govt. raids Nvidia, its a bad day to be in the French gaming industry. As the writers get back to work, SAG meets with the studios to try and negotiate their deal, as streamers seek to increase their rates yet again. The Filmlosophers and Ensign Amy beam back to the Multiverse where no man has gone before, as they dust off their phasers in celebration of Star Trek Month with a review of the most divisive film of the franchise, Star Trek: Nemesis. Our Crew of Red Shirts takes an opinionated view on their first movie of the month, a much-derided film that many fans blame for the death of the franchise for several years. But does this thought still hold regarding the beloved series? Or is this just another case of a fanbase overreacting to the film's outcome? Find out in this week's special episode of The Filmosphers!
This week, with Dan out of town, Jason takes a chance and invites Jesse to fill in for him, only to find himself immediately regretting the decision. Unfortunately, both Harrison and Preston are also absent. However, to keep things interesting, we have a special guest, Aaron - a Friend of the Show - joining us, while Stella takes control of the buttons. As they kick off the episode, Jesse curiously drives past Lauer Road and seizes the opportunity to question Jason about the podcast's name, "Lauer Road Radio." Jason takes this as a chance to explain the origins story and then goes on to discuss the significance of Shared Experiences as a Culture, drawing parallels to how people engage with shows like American Idol. Inevitably, the conversation steers towards the new Wonka movie, and Jason doesn't hold back in expressing his critique. Aaron jumps in with stories about attending video game releases at midnight, sparking nostalgia for the days of Blockbuster Video and Family Video. As they delve into Digital Piracy discussions, the group recalls the early days of movie downloads, including downloading movies like Star Trek Nemesis on platforms like Limewire and Napster, a true blast from the past. Jesse lightens the mood by sharing a comical experience involving the infamous "naughty painting scene" from Titanic, leading to amusing anecdotes about extended versions of movies. In a surprising turn, Aaron confesses that he's never had a Squirt, prompting laughter and playful banter among the guys. The topic then shifts to brainstorming ways to get a million dollars, with everyone sharing their creative ideas. Jason shares an inspiring story about his endeavor to start a company centered around planting trees, highlighting the importance of environmental conservation. Of course, Jesse has his own short story to tell, recounting a hilarious incident involving his son's bathroom escapades at a restaurant, leaving everyone in stitches. As the discussion winds down, they talk about their local Ridgedale High School, engaging in chatter about Mr. Napper and reminiscing about school days. The show concludes with a delightful surprise from Jesse - he unveils Bacon Maple Syrup bubbles, adding a unique and tasty twist to the end of the episode. Discovery Debrief is very pleased to be able to present this pre-release review of the return of the franchise to the interactive medium of video games in Dramatic Labs' STAR TREK: RESURGENCE! In a story taking place in the period after STAR TREK NEMESIS and during the same period as STAR TREK: LOWER DECKS, a newly-repaired Federation starship is the one thing standing between two cultures on the brink of war. Listen in as our own Chris Clow offers the Debrief perspective on RESURGENCE with a full review that is light on spoilers, heavy on analysis and with some pedantic continuity time thrown in for good measure! NOTE: A digital copy of this game was provided to the show for reviewing purposes by representatives of Dramatic Labs.

Star Trek Picard, S03E10And so it ends, a Generation's Final Journey. Wait ... that may have been the tagline for "Star Trek: Nemesis." In any case, "The Last Generation" marks the series finale for the third season of "Picard," as well as the last (??) voyage of The Next Generation crew. Did it wrap up the season long arc of Jack Crusher and the Federation-wide conspiracy? Where does this leave all our characters? Do we want to know more about where all our TNG favorites now are in their personal journeys? The trio dives into this episode, saying goodbye to Jean-Luc Picard and his Enterprise-D family, as well as what awaits the next ... next generation.
Star Trek fans are in for a treat as Paramount+ announces the development of a new Star Trek film that will kick off "Phase 2" of its modern Star Trek television franchise. This new film is set to be based on the long-gestating Section 31 spinoff series that was originally intended to be a streaming show. According to sources, the idea for the movie was conceived by Alex Kurtzman, the franchise's boss, who wanted to shift the focus to tentpole films. The new movie will be led by Michelle Yeoh, who made her Star Trek debut as Captain Philippa Georgiou in the first episode of Star Trek: Discovery. Yeoh's character was killed off early on in the series, but she returned to play her Mirror-Universe counterpart, Emperor Philippa Georgiou, in subsequent seasons. Plans were announced in 2019 for Yeoh to reprise her role as Mirror Georgiou and lead a Discovery spinoff series focused on Section 31, Starfleet's black-ops division. Kurtzman would return as an executive producer, with Bo Yeon Kim and Erika Lippoldt as showrunners. However, due to concerns about oversaturation of Star Trek streaming shows, the plans for the Section 31 spinoff series were reworked into a tentpole film. Kurtzman and his team plan to release a new Paramount+-exclusive Star Trek film every two years as part of their vision for the franchise post-Discovery and post-Picard. This new film will be the first Star Trek feature to hit screens since 2016's Star Trek Beyond, and the first to spin directly out of a TV show since 2002's Star Trek: Nemesis. Yeoh's Section 31 streaming film will serve as the maiden voyage for the second phase of Star Trek on Paramount+. This announcement comes at a time when the Star Trek TV franchise is in a transitional period, with Star Trek: Picard ending after three seasons and Discovery ending after its fifth season. Star Trek: Strange New Worlds, a Discovery spinoff, is set to debut its second season on Paramount+ this summer, with a third season already in the works. Additionally, the animated shows Star Trek: Lower Decks and Star Trek: Prodigy are gearing up for new seasons on Paramount+ as well. A Star Trek series focusing on Starfleet Academy was also recently given a series order. The Star Trek franchise has been a mainstay in science fiction for over 50 years, and this new development shows that it is still going strong. With a new movie based on the Section 31 spinoff and a clear vision for the future of the franchise, fans can look forward to many more years of exploring strange new worlds, seeking out new life and new civilizations, and boldly going where no one has gone before.
As our voyages continue, we arrive at the last Star Trek film to feature the cast of The Next Generation: Star Trek Nemesis. In this final adventure, a new ruler of the Romulan Empire desires to negotiate with the Federation. Captain Picard and the USS Enterprise travel to Romulus, only to discover that the new ruler of the Empire is a clone of Picard himself! Today we are joined by our good friend and fellow Trekkie Justin Toner. Join us as we go boldly! --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/pageturnerstheywerenot/message

The creative and commercial failure of Insurrection required a slight reset. Producer Rick Berman was determined to continue the TNG film franchise, but Paramount was hesitant. Ultimately, to get the next film greenlit, Berman would have to agree to hire … Continue reading →
Start Trek is back! We're doing a month long wrap up of The Next Generation, and we're starting with the worst movie, and then going through some of the all-time great episodes. In this episode we also talk about Balance of Terror and The Defector...both way better than this pile of crap.
Robin is joined by space journalists, Star Trek experts, and Supercluster contributors Swapna Krishna (Vulture, WIRED) and Chris Gebhardt (NASASpaceflight) to unpack the first few episodes of Picard Season 3 and the Next Generation reunion Trekkies have been waiting for since Tom Hardy left us with the thoroughly sad and disappointing Star Trek: Nemesis.

Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home, collectively known in The Bicks home as "The One with the Whales." A classic 80s film, a classic Trek film, and a unique entry in the series all at once. We loved chatting about this one and hope you'll enjoy our wandering discussion of the most populist of Star Trek movies! Notes: It was Alan Silvestri who did the music for Back to the Future. Moores is a Canadian men's clothing company. The Home Depot is an American hardware and home improvement chain. These two pieces of information will help clarify the odd bit around the 36-37th minute of the podcast. Episode Sponsor: Today's episode is brought to you by Whales Alive, the very real album that really featured Leonard Nimoy really doing spoken word poetry over top of very real whale song. Please go listen right now. Bicks Log: Was the success of The Voyage Home a template that could have saved the second fourth movie of Star Trek - 2002's Star Trek: Nemesis? Would a funnier, less dramatic and serious Next Generation movie have changed the trajectory of the Star Trek franchise?

The second film of Peter Jackson's Lord of the Rings trilogy hit movie screens twenty years ago this month. While the first was a major hit for New Line Cinema the year before, the success of the second installment was no sure thing. Star Trek: Nemesis was opening the week before, and the Christmas frame included new films from Spike Lee, Martin Scorcese, and Steven Spielberg. There was also the issue of the film's title with its cryptic reference to twin towers just a year after 9/11. Nevertheless, it proved to be a major hit that outperformed the first film on opening weekend and would finish as the highest-grossing release of 2002 - ahead of Harry Potter, Spider-Man, Star Wars, Men in Black, and James Bond. Now we're headed back to Middle-earth for some more sightseeing - look, there's Helm Deep! The Dead Marshes! Fangorn Forest! And The Two Towers!
