This “syndrome” directly conflicts with Debbie’s teaching that “Success Is Easy”.  If you believe that you’re not worthy of success, then you’re not going to get it. A person that claims they have IS can use this as an excuse for self-sabotage. Debbie describes some of the thoughts that are attributed to IS. Learning a new business and making mistakes does not mean that you have IS, even while looking successful to others. Who DOESN’T feel like an imposter at some point in their life? It’s a normal feeling but cannot be used as an excuse to fail. People who say they have IS think success is good luck or good timing so they dismiss it as it if isn’t going to happen. Remind yourself that you’re worthy. Different levels of “Imposter Syndrome”, according to psychology: The perfectionist Superman or Superwoman Natural genius The soloist The expert We all struggle with confidence but that’s a part of life as we learn to grow. 07: Take Ownership of Your Failures

As we enter 2020 with our goals and our plans to try some exciting new things, we’re going to have obstacles and sometimes even failures, because things don’t always go as planned. Once we learn to take ownership of our failures, we can then move forward. Join Debbie Allen as she shares insight into why learning critical life skills are pivotal in moving past these obstacles on our way to success. Show Highlights: Every new business is dysfunctional, and dysfunction and failure go hand-in-hand because we are learning new things. Creating systems in a business will not only maintain the business and its growth, but it will also increase its worth whenever you’re ready to sell it.  If you don’t learn from your mistakes, you will keep repeating your bad business habits in other business ventures. When successful people fail, they focus on what’s possible and they continue on, despite the mistakes that try to get in their way. Successful business people play the business game to win, even when they fail. Unsuccessful business people play the game not to lose. Your goal for 2020 is to play all-out: to do whatever it takes to succeed. You shouldn’t dwell on failure, but you should honor it.  Admit and accept the failure, otherwise the lessons you need to learn from it will be delayed. Invest in winning from the very start! You can learn to do things better, faster, easier from the beginning by following and implementing the lessons someone ahead of you already did. When you want to learn how to do something well you should take advice and guidance from those who have already walked that path. Invest also in relationships. There’s no plan of return on investment; you have to make that return on investment yourself by asking for and implementing opportunities. Have a step-by-step plan and an accountability partner so that when that bump in the road happens, you have somebody to bounce your ideas off of. They will help you move past it much more quickly. Critical life skills were never taught in school, and it’s these skills that will help make you a successful entrepreneur. We need to be coachable to somebody else. Focus on the course correction. Every successful person has experienced failure. Become a life-long student of failure. Some of the biggest lessons are the ones that turn us around. Reinvent and do something else. Success becomes easier and easier. Links/Resources: Debbie’s Website Podcast - Listen & Subscribe!  Buy Debbie’s Book and Have a Highlighter Handy!! We all go through challenging times and go through big changes throughout our lives, that is just a part of life. Yet we are surrounded by knowledge, education, and training everywhere we look. Learning something new has never been easier with access to information on the internet, on YouTube, or the library, so why settle for failure?  Join Debbie Allen as she helps you to discover what most people won’t tell you, and that is success is easier than failure. Show Highlights: The number one reason why people accept failure over success is because success scares some people so they’d rather remain in failure mode. Fear is just a false belief, and if we don’t overcome it, it can start to control you and your outcomes. Five False Beliefs Around Success : Success is all about power, wealth, and fame. Success is hard work and takes forever to achieve. Successful people are selfish and self-centered. You need a formal education to succeed. You don’t know about finances because your parents didn’t teach you. Questions to consider regarding what might be holding you back: Has fear held you back from the success you deserved in any way? Have you ever crushed your dreams of success? Have you ever walked away from success opportunities out of fear that you now know that you actually deserved to have? Controlling your thoughts and limited beliefs around success can be challenging, but it’s not impossible. Take responsibility for your values and your financial future. You’re not born an entrepreneur; you have to keep investing in yourself. Debbie covers the different ways you learn over the course of entrepreneurship. Think of failure as a lesson to learn on your way to success! Links/Resources: Debbie’s Website Podcast - Listen & Subscribe!  Buy Debbie’s Book and Have a Highlighter Handy!! 05: Define Success On Your Own Terms

As Debbie Allen was writing her latest book, Success Is Easy, she would interview people on how they defined success, and each person had a completely different answer than the person before. What struck her was how they defined success by their own terms. Join Debbie as she shares honest wisdom to help you succeed. Show Highlights: You don’t want someone to define your success. This is something that is very individual to each person. Looking for others’ approval: it doesn’t matter! Don’t wait for the approval of others, look for your own approval. 3 Steps to Defining Your Own Success: Discover why success is important to you. Uncover your drive to move past obstacles. Start by taking the first step. The #1 reason most people don’t succeed is that they don’t take the time to really define what they truly want. You must have awareness, and know what you want, then write it down! If you believe success is what everybody else says it is, you’ll always miss the target. Stop comparing yourself to others. By understanding and valuing who you are and why you desire success, it’s easier to tap into your true value by becoming more aware of your strengths, your skills, and your existing knowledge. Start listening to your inner promptings and see what you will start discovering. When you follow what success means to you, it will lead you in the right direction. Take full responsibility of your direction once you have defined it. If roadblocks get in the way, you will knock it down because you have goals to achieve. Define your core values around the success that you want. Your success is not defined by others. It’s only defined by yourself. Success is defined by knowing what you want most in life and most of all, believing that you can achieve it. 04: Get Out of the Lame Excuses Zone

If you want to be successful, you have to get out of your own way with some of the excuses that are coming out of your mouth. We don’t even realize what we say sometimes.   Join Debbie Allen to hear how negative self-talk kills opportunities for success and learn all about the “Lame Excuse Zone”.   Show Highlights:   You must remain on high alert against negative self-talk. Otherwise, it will throw you into the “Lame Excuse Zone”. Debbie gives examples of excuses you might tell yourself in order to avoid taking action, and these excuses often aren’t even logical. Do you recognize any of these excuses? If you have limited beliefs, it’s easier to fall into this trap. Limiting words are so damaging, it can make one feel hopeless. Lame excuses are a habit, and you have to have awareness of them to break the habit. Debbie explains the difference between excuses and limiting words. When you get stuck in your story, stop it! Nobody wants to hear it. Stop with the victim mentality. We all have down, funky days, but you have to be aware to limit the negative. When you start talking positive words, it’s powerful and can bring positive opportunities and this will bring success. Life gets in the way and things are going to happen but you cannot use this as an excuse. We attract everything that comes to us in life. This includes happy, sad, good, bad, success, failure. If you want to change your life and start attracting something different; it’s a choice! Successful people consider themselves in every situation, an opportunity. If a successful person finds themselves in a negative situation, they will try to find an opportunity in which they can use it for the positive. Remember: do whatever it takes! Believe that you’re worthy! Choose to be around positive-thinking people. Debbie warns about the dangers of self-fulfilling prophecies. When we choose to be positive, we attract more positive people, and more positive opportunities.   Links/Resources:   https://debbieallen.com Podcast - Listen & Subscribe!  Buy Debbie’s Book and Get Some FREE GIFTS from Debbie and Her Friends!!
