Celina Toth traded in her gymnastics leotard for her swimsuit at age 12, where she quickly rose up the ranks, and consistently maintained her spot on the Canadian National Team since 2008. "I was the oldest diver to ever qualify for their first Olympics in Canada at 28...a testament to my character, that I was never giving up." A 4x World Cup Finalist and CAN Fund recipient, Celina made quite the splash in the world of diving, and did so on her terms, calling the shots for herself. Her motivation? "Every time I step on that platform, I'm diving for the little girl who was told she wasn't good enough." And it hasn't been easy. Throughout her career, she's battled toxic training environments, body shaming, and abusive coaches. She shares, "I was told I was too fat, that I'd never get the scores I deserved because of the way I looked...but I made it anyway." In today's conversation, Celina opens up about her decision to retire from competitive sport and in traditional Celina-fashion, is doing it her way: "I'm leaving the sport on my terms, doing it for myself, after standing up to every ‘no' and every doubter along the way." --------------- Flame Bearers is a global storytelling platform, illuminating the unsung stories of resilient women Olympians & Paralympians that inspire people to drive change for themselves, in their connections with others, and their communities. Vida Roozen is the Chief Operating Officer at The Smarter Service, a technology concierge provider for older adults and senior living communities. Learn why this startup was recognized by Wired magazine as one of the best tech services for older adults. About Vida Vida Roozen has a 23-year career in consumer technology and the home appliance sector. Before joining The Smarter Service, she held Senior Vice President positions at BDS Solutions, a sales and marketing solutions provider, and at Creative Channel Services, a strategic retail marketing company. Notably, she also led Omnicom's Women's Leadership chapter for California. ‘ Vida's decision to join The Smarter Service was deeply personal, fueled by experiences supporting aging parents with technology challenges. In her role, she saw a clear market gap and seized the opportunity not only to assist individuals but also to revolutionize the understanding of older adults within the tech and healthcare industries. Key Takeaways People use technology on their own terms. It is highly personalized. The Smarter Service helps clients build confidence using their devices, fixes things when they're not working and suggests tools that will help them realize their goals. Older adults often use smartphones, tablets, smart TVs, and wearables to stay connected to their families in other locations. Shared calendars help generations communicate real time. Not keeping up with software updates and using outdated devices can be challenging for older adults. Smartphones are often gifted by family members and platforms may no longer be supported. Technologies that hold the most promise to improve the lives of older adults include advancements in telemedicine and diagnostic tools like wearables and smart home devices so people can monitor their health and recognize problems before they become bigger problems. Start discussions with older adults about their vision for the future. Encourage them to think about where and how they want to live as they age, what kind of support they might need, and what hobbies or activities they hope to pursue. This process is helpful for identifying the role technology can play in helping older adults realize their goals.

Crawford shares her own experiences, highlighting the generational impact on her view of adulthood and the challenges of student loan debt. She encourages listeners to reflect on their inner parental voices, media influences, and to question whether they believe in the possibility of a fulfilling, joyful adult life. Concepts like freedom and independence are abstract. Bob Proctor taught that if you want to make money, you can't simply say, "Well, I want a lotta money." You need to set an amount. Saying "a lot" or "plenty" is too vague. The same is true for freedom - financial freedom, workplace freedom, etc. What does it truly mean to you? Happy Throwback Thursday Heal Squad! Today we are bringing back our conversation with Dr. Shefali Tsabary, a clinical psychologist who draws from both Western psychology and Eastern philosophy, offering her clients a unique, holistic approach. Dr. Shefali sits to discuss her new book, "A Radical Awakening: Turn Your Pain into Power, Embrace Your Truth and Live Free" In our conversation, we explore breaking free from societal expectations and boundaries - particularly the obstacles that often hold women back from becoming their most authentic selves. This is a deep dive into how we can learn to live freely and for ourselves, rather than for anyone else. Healers and Heal-Liners The reason why religion and capitalism work so well together is that religion is “thou shall suffer' and capitalism is ‘oh you're suffering, here I have the drug'. Capitalism preys on the parenting industrial complex. Unworthiness is the prediction of the economic system. Just because we can, doesn't mean we must.
