Welcome to Talk About The Magic. A Walt Disney inspired podcast focused on encouraging you. While deadlines are very important, it's easy to assume once you reach the deadline it's time to end whatever you're doing to achieve your goal. That's not always the case, we talk about it on today's show. Quotes for this week: “Everyone needs deadlines. Even the beavers. They loaf around all summer, but when they are faced with the winter deadline, they work like fury. If we didn't have deadlines, we'd stagnate.” - The Quotable Walt Disney "Love not sleep, lest you come to poverty; open your eyes, and you will have plenty of bread." In today's Disney inspired podcast we will talk about the importance of seeing what may not be there...yet. It's important to picture what your end result will look like. Whenever you start working toward your goal in front of you will be so many different obstructions that will make seeing what you hope to achieve seem unrealistic and nearly impossible to achieve. Quotes for this week: “I first saw the site for Disneyland back in 1953. In those days it was all flat land - no rivers, no mountains, no castles or rocket ships - just orange groves, and a few acres of walnut trees.” - The Quotable Walt Disney "Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see." Don't let others break your ideas down. Let them think of you as a dreamer and prove you can make those dreams into a reality. Quotes for this week: “I could never convince the financiers that Disneyland was feasible, because dreams offer too little collateral.” - The Quotable Walt Disney "Here comes that dreamer!” they said to each other." In this world, it's easy for our focus to be money. The more we get the easier our life will become. At least that's how many of us see it. In today's show, we'll talk about the dangers of falling into the trap of Money=Happinesss. Quotes for this week: “Disneyland is a work of love. We didn't go into Disneyland just with the idea of making money.” - The Quotable Walt Disney "Whoever loves money never has enough; whoever loves wealth is never satisfied with their income." Welcome to Talk About The Magic, a podcast sharing Disney Inspiration and more. Being aware of potential setbacks isn't a bad thing. In fact, it's good to be prepared for any goal you're trying to tackle. Quotes for this week: “Caution there must be, of course, along with venturesome courage. The motion picture business has long been a chance-taking business. This doesn't mean timidity in planning an operation.” - The Quotable Walt Disney "Be strong and courageous " Deuteronomy 31:6 If you'd like to share your own story about moving forward feel free to comment or send me an email. ********************************************************* Show Notes, Links, and Comments Be sure and join the monthly newsletter to stay up to date! You've learned to appreciate the setbacks, you've learned to keep moving forward, and now it's time to drown out the noise of anyone who tries to tell you it can't be done. Quotes for this week: “We are not trying to entertain the critics. I'll take my chances with the public.” - The Quotable Walt Disney "And don’t let something you consider to be good be criticized as wrong." When preparing to accomplish any goal you can almost guarantee there will be setbacks. These setbacks can come from yourself, another person, or something completely out of your control. With each trial you may face it's important to keep your head leveled and for you to remain confident that you can achieve your goal. Don't let a setback sink you, instead use it as a learning tool and grow from it. Quotes for this week: “All the adversity I’ve had in my life, all my troubles and obstacles have strengthened me.” - The Quotable Walt Disney So don’t throw away your confidence—it brings a great reward. In today's Disney Inspired Podcast we talk about the importance of teamwork and how it can move even the biggest obstacles. Quotes for today: "No one person can take credit for the success of a motion picture. It's strictly a team effort." - The Quotable Walt Disney "Two are better off than one because together they can work more effectively. If one of them falls down, the other can help him up." In today's show, we talk about not letting other people's feelings toward you change who you are as a person. Why their opinion may sometimes matter, their dislike for who you are and what you stand for may not. Quotes for today: "Almost everyone warned us that Disneyland would be a Hollywood spectacular - a spectacular failure." - The Quotable Walt Disney "It is dangerous to be concerned with what others think of you," Proverbs 29:25 Listen to the previous episode: http://www.talkaboutthemagic.com/podcast/185/ If you'd like to share your own story about a frustrating moment feel free to comment or send me an email. Something that I find extremely frustrating is when I get frustrated. That was a fun sentence to read, wasn't it? Okay, seriously though, there are times when frustration sets in so hard that it's easy to lose the wind from our sails and begin to look at the issue as a failure instead of just a minor set back. In today's show, we'll go over the importance of not letting frustration turn into failure. Quotes for today: "You may not realize when it happens, but a kick in the teeth may be the best thing in the world for you." - The Quotable Walt Disney You will have many kinds of trouble. But this gives you a reason to be very happy. You know that when your faith is tested, you learn to be patient. - James 1:2-3 Listen to the previous episode: http://www.talkaboutthemagic.com/podcast/184/ If you'd like to share your own story about a frustrating moment feel free to comment or send me an email. So many times it's easy for us to prolong our achieving of goals by simply procrastinating. At times procrastination can seem like a wonderful thing. It can be a comfy bed, or maybe a Netflix binge, or maybe something more serious. The reality is we sometimes choose to take a break that in the end completely delays us from our achievements. The wonderful thing is to realize that there's still time to stop procrastinating and refocus on achieving your goal. Quotes for this week: "I first saw the site for Disneyland back in 1953. In those days it was all flat land-no rivers, no mountains, no castles or rocket ships-just orange groves, and a few acres of walnut trees." - Walt Disney (The Quotable Walt Disney) Some good comes from all work. Nothing but talk leads only to being poor. - Proverbs 14:23 Check out the previous episode: http://www.talkaboutthemagic.com/podcast/183/ If you'd like to share your own story about procrastination please feel free to comment or send me an email. Many times we have a set goal in front of us and are pumped to accomplish it. Then, out of the blue, we see something that attracts us and seems like something we should change course for. Sometimes it is, but sometimes it's a SQUIRREL moment. If you've ever seen the Pixar film UP, you'll know that Dug quickly became a favorite for his many catchphrases. One of them being SQUIRREL! Whenever Dug needed to focus he would get distracted by the squirrel that was never actually seen or attainable. So many times we get excited by a possibility that is not actually seen or attainable but feels like we should give it some attention. After realizing it's not real we end us losing our original idea and motivation. In today's show, we talk about the importance of avoiding those SQUIRREL! moments. Here are today's quotes: "Get a good idea, and stay with it. Dog it, and work at it until it's done, and done right." - Walt Disney (The Quotable Walt Disney) Give careful thought to the paths for your feet and be steadfast in all your ways. - Proverbs 4:26 Check out last week's show: http://www.talkaboutthemagic.com/podcast/182/ If you'd like to share your own SQUIRREL moment please feel free to comment or send me an email. I hope you have a wonderful night, day, weekend, or whenever you’re reading this and always, Stay Magical! Be sure to check out secondstarapparel.com for some awesome Disney inspired apparel. Nowadays it's easy to fall for the traps social media can catch you in. It's important to remember who you really are and not let what others think or say redefine your core values. I share two quotes today: "I am not influenced by the techniques or fashions of any other motion-picture company. - Walt Disney (The Quotable Walt Disney) Do not be deceived: “Bad company ruins good morals.” 1 Corinthians 15:33 Check out last week's show: Happy Thoughts, Happy Thoughts, Happy Thoughts Can you remember a time that Social Media started to redefine you? If you'd like to share your own experience please feel free to comment or send me an email. I hope you have a wonderful night, day, weekend, or whenever you’re reading this and always, Stay Magical! Be sure to check out secondstarapparel.com for some awesome Disney inspired apparel. Would you like your own customized shirt? In today's world, it's easy to let what you read or hear bring you down. It's important to remember to keep thinking happy thoughts to help you get past those negative things that cloud your mind. There's a Proverb that is great to help get your mind back where it needs to be. It comes from Philippians 4:8 which says to fill your minds with those things that are good and that deserve praise: things that are true, noble, right, pure, lovely, and honorable. Now, of course, this wouldn't be a Disney podcast if we didn't mention some Disney quotes. The second idea comes from one of our favorite songs from one of my personal favorite Disney film which is Peter Pan. "Now, think of the happiest things, It's the same as having wings." I couldn't agree with this more. What are some things you do to help you keep happy thoughts? I'd love to know so feel free to comment or send me an email. I hope you have a wonderful night, day, weekend, or whenever you're reading this and always, Stay Magical! Be sure to check out secondstarapparel.com for some awesome Disney inspired apparel. In today's episode, we talk with a new shop owner Jennifer. We talk about the challenges that come with opening a new shop and how much her mindset has changed since opening. Here are some more details about our guest today. I am a 32-year-old Disney loving wife. Our first vacation together was to DLR, 4 months later, we got engaged at WDW during Wishes and that was the true beginning of an obsession with all things Disney. I have always wanted to use my crafting skills in a Disney direction. However, I knew I wanted to have a product that no one else had. I was searching on Pinterest for a pair of ears to buy for our upcoming trip, and I couldn’t find exactly what I wanted, so I decided to make them! I knew I wanted them to be clear and filled with glitter… the picture in my head was basically a pair of Flower and Garden themed snow globes on a headband! So I sat down So I sat down and brainstormed, went to the craft stores about a billion times… and came up with my #clearears design! I’m learning and growing with every pair of ears I make, and loving the process! Nothing makes me as happy as sitting down and having the idea in my head become an actual creation that someone can enjoy in my favorite place in the whole world! In today's episode, we talk with Jay Ratner. You may not recognize his name but if you're a Disney fan then it's extremely likely you'll know his work. He's a little more about our guest today. Originally from New York, I moved to Florida after graduating from Pratt Institute, where I studied graphic design. Becoming an artist for Disney was something I wanted for as long as I could remember. Although the path getting there was not what I imagined it would be, passion, positivity, and determination went a long way. I’ve been a full-time graphic designer for the Walt Disney Company for almost 6 years now and it’s been the most incredible experience. Over the years I have also started a custom Invitation design business, spent some time teaching Photoshop at a local college and pursued freelance and personal passion projects that allow me to grow even more as an artist, while hopefully gaining the opportunity to help inspire others in the process. Be sure to follow Jay at his social accounts! Let him know how much you appreciate his work.
