In a spectacular display of blood, guts, and effects-heavy martial arts battles, this new take on the over-the-top story of the Mortal Kombat fighting games perhaps bites off a little more than it can chew by attempting what is essentially an origin story and an Avengers-esque superhero team-up all in one. As a result, the first half stalls out a bit as it backs up a dump truck of exposition, and even then some characters that really deserve more time in the spotlight end up being shallow and forgettable. Still, Mortal Kombat finds its footing in the second half and delivers a gleefully cheesy and entertaining take on one of gaming's most historic franchises and a solid starting point for future films. From New Line Cinema comes the explosive new cinematic adventure Mortal Kombat, inspired by the blockbuster video game franchise, which most recently enjoyed the most successful video game launch in its history, Mortal Kombat 11. The film is helmed by award-winning Australian commercial filmmaker Simon McQuoid, marking his feature directorial debut, and produced by James Wan, Todd Garner, McQuoid, and E. Bennett Walsh. Mortal Kombat debuts in theaters and HBO Max on April 23, 2021.

The jury found former Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin guilty of second and third-degree murder and second-degree manslaughter in the May 25, 2020, killing of George Floyd. The verdict comes after two weeks of witnesses and experts examining Floyd's death and Chauvin's use of force. Judge Peter Cahill has allowed the proceedings to be broadcast live, which was a first in Minnesota history for a criminal trial. 

Rap Legend DMX aka Earl Simmons passed away today at age 50 . The Rapper DMX born Earl Simmons has officially passed away due to heart attack he suffered this weekend after what's being reported as a drug overdose. DMX has a long and storied history of substance issues.  Fans and hip hop will mourn the late great rapper. May he rest in peace a hip hop icon and legend forever.

DMX suffered an overdose last night at his home which brought on a heart attack.  DMX is currently in a White Plains, NY hospital in the critical care unit.  Some sources say he has a small amount of brain activity while others say he is in a vegetative state.  This story is developing.   Thanks for watching!

At least eight people were killed Tuesday in shootings at three spas in the Atlanta area. A suspect is in custody in connection to at least one shooting. Police said it was too early in the investigation to say if the shootings were linked or to identify potential motives.

Veteran rapper T.I. and his wife Tameka “Tiny” Harris have denied the most recent round of allegations from Sabrina Peterson, who previously accused the rapper of holding a gun to her head. The latest round of allegations are in a series of screenshots of DMs from several women accusing the rapper and his wife of disturbing incidents of sexual abuse and other transgressions allegedly from more than a dozen women. The accounts claim that the women were forced to take drugs and “pressured for sex.” In a statement first posted on Complex, a spokesperson for the rapper and Tiny called the claims “egregiously appalling” and claims the couple have been having “difficulty” with Peterson for more than a decade. The statement reads: “Mr. and Mrs. Harris want to be on record and more importantly want the public to know they emphatically deny in the strongest way possible the egregiously appalling allegations being made against them by Sabrina Peterson. The Harrises have had difficulty with this woman for well over a decade. They are taking this matter very seriously.” Along with their long-running musical careers, the pair starred in the VH1 reality series “T.I. & Tiny: The Family Hustle” for six seasons, beginning in 2011. Tiny aggressively denied the gun claim from Peterson earlier this week, responding in a comment on the Shade Room: “Hold up… So you want your abuser to train your sons? He was just uncle 2 years ago Now when did you say my husband assaulted you? Did you change your mind or change it back? What wit you today Pooh? I'm confused,” Tiny wrote in a comment on The Shade Room. “Stop Harassing My Family. You strange. Everybody know you been special (face slicing seminar lady). Please get help but LEAVE US ALONE.”
