S.O.S. (Stories of Service) - Ordinary people who do extraordinary work
A life's trajectory derailed by a single night, a textbook case of injustice unfolding at one of America's most prestigious military academies. This urgent special episode of Stories of Service brings to light the troubling case of Joseph Fernau, a wrestler and former Air Force Academy cadet fighting to save his military career and avoid crushing debt after being falsely accused of sexual assault. When a devastating ankle injury sidelined Fernau from his beloved wrestling team, he made a mistake while heavily medicated - fraternizing with a freshman cadet. What followed defies belief: months later, after he began dating someone new, came an accusation of sexual assault that threatened everything he'd worked for. Despite text messages clearly showing consent before and satisfaction after their encounter, and despite OSI investigators finding the assault allegation unfounded, Fernau now faces disenrollment and $240,000 in debt while his accuser transferred to Stanford without consequences. The episode reveals disturbing inconsistencies in how military discipline is administered, with numerous examples of cadets committing similar or worse violations receiving far lighter punishments. Captain Adam DeRito, himself a veteran of a 15-year battle with the Academy over his own case, provides crucial context about potential bias and command influence affecting the proceedings. The conversation raises profound questions about who receives second chances in our military, and whether factors like identity politics might be corrupting the process of justice.Whether you're connected to military service or simply care about fairness in our institutions, this case demands attention. As Fernau's appeal reaches the Secretary of the Air Force, the fundamental question remains: Should one mistake, immediately self-reported and followed by exemplary conduct, end a promising military career? In 2020, an accuser known as “Jane Doe” filed a lawsuit against Jeffrey Epstein's estate and Ghislaine Maxwell, alleging she was recruited and sexually abused as a minor. According to her attorney, estate lawyers engaged in a “concerted and coordinated effort” to pressure her into the Epstein Victims' Compensation Fund—a voluntary, non-adversarial program—rather than allowing her claim to proceed through the courts. Her attorney further claimed that the estate had “resorted to belittling” her simply for resisting, asserting she was being penalized for exercising her legal right to pursue the claim in court.Estate attorney Mary Grace Metcalfe formally denied these allegations, stating in court that they were “completely untrue” and that the claim of belittlement reflected a lack of good faith from the plaintiff's side. Meanwhile, the judge handling the case delayed a deposition of Epstein's co-executor, Darren Indyke, pending considerations over a motion to stay the case. The ongoing dispute highlighted tensions between pursuing judicial redress and channeling claims into the estate's established compensation structure.to contact me:bobbycapucci@protonmail.comBecome a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/the-epstein-chronicles--5003294/support.

In 22 states, people subject to certain domestic violence protection orders must surrender their guns. Washington State has had that requirement since 2014, when lawmakers unanimously voted to strip abusers of their guns. But not all judges here have been enforcing that law. That’s because of a 2022 appeals court decision that led many judges and judicial officers to view it as unconstitutional. Now, a new ruling in a separate case may provide more clarity and keep more guns out of the hands of alleged abusers. Maybe. Guest: Kelsey Turner is an investigative reporter at InvestigateWest Related stories: Some Washington judges aren’t ordering accused abusers to surrender guns. Ret FBI Chief EXPOSES The Lies Of The Austin Drummond FBI Informant Claim The Austin Drummond case has spiraled from horrifying to surreal. Accused of murdering four members of a family in Lake County, Tennessee, and abandoning a baby in a stranger's yard, Drummond is now spinning a story that he was really a confidential informant for the FBI. According to Drummond, he was recruited to help expose corruption and drug smuggling in Tennessee's prisons. He insists his “cover was blown,” and that he fled not because of guilt, but because his life was in danger. Prosecutors have found no evidence to support this claim. Adding to the chaos are three alleged accomplices: Tanaka Brown, Dearrah Sanders, and Giovonte Thomas. Prosecutors say they provided Drummond with phones, shelter, clothing, and transportation during his weeklong manhunt. Each faces charges of their own. But the bigger question remains: did they believe his story? Or were they knowingly protecting a fugitive accused of slaughtering a family? To unpack all of this, Tony Brueski sits down with retired FBI Special Agent Robin Dreeke. From the implausibility of Drummond's informant tale to the psychology of accomplices and manipulation, Robin brings insider expertise to dissect what's real, what's fantasy, and how stories like this are used to confuse, distract, and exploit. This full conversation covers both angles: the informant claim, and the dangerous ripple effects of accomplices pulled into Drummond's orbit. #AustinDrummond #TrueCrime #HiddenKillers #RobinDreeke #FBI #CourtCase #MurderCase #Accomplices #DeathPenalty #TrueCrimeCommunity Want to comment and watch this podcast as a video? Accused pedophile and former SC lawmaker RJ May is facing ten federal charges of distributing Child Sexual Abuse Material (CSAM) — but instead of mounting a serious defense, his lawyer leaned on arguments involving Wi-Fi passwords, multitasking excuses, and even LEGOLAND trips. A video of Weldon Boyd's police interview not only shows the lead investigator on the case treating it like it's a foregone conclusion that Weldon and Bradley killed Scott in self-defense, it also shows him allowing both shooters to listen to Weldon's 911 call to get their stories straight before the interview...
