Another day, another TRPE and today we clock in at over 2.5 hours. Today we start by covering the little holiday that could "Juneteenth" and the fact that essentially zero commercial businesses are actually taking it seriously. In the spirit of Juneteenth, we get into all the celebratory cookouts and why the black folks who organize them never ever have all the things they need to actually feed the people in attendance.  Additional topics for today's show include how the content game has turned into a streamer's economy equipped with copycats, haters and groupies. We salute Kai, Speed and DDG for absolutely killing it and predict what may be next. We also take a microscopic look at why Future IS NOT in The Big 3, a review of Lil Baby's WHAM Tour and a deep drive onto where his "Baby fell off" narratives originated from *COUGHS* LIVE NATION.  We round out the show discussing the Billboard Top 50 R&B list, the Breezy Bowl, Jackson 5 Reunion Tour and a historic look at the Clips/Pharrell/StarTrak/ReUp Gang/Good Music/Rocnation hate train against YMCMB/Birdman/Wayne/Drake/Travis Scott and why this shit will continue to be an issue FOREVER!! This includes a 2025 look at the MELTDOWN verse from Travis's Utopia album that has the rap game all fucked up… yet again. All this and more on today's episode of The Realest Podcast Ever. Episode 87 kicks off with some light banter and shots at Duke Dennis for allegedly having multiple baby mothers, along with Trivelle demanding time in the studio to finally record a track with OShauN. The spotlight then shifts to the news of OVO R&B duo DVSN ending their deal and signing with So So Def, where they'll now be curated by Jermaine Dupri. This sparks a deeper conversation about the functionality of artist-led labels and whether they really work. The discussion brings up DTP (Disturbing Tha Peace) led by Ludacris, which leads to a fun face-off: Bobby Valentino vs. Chingy, debating who was the better artist from a musician-led label while comparing their top hits. Next up is Lil Wayne's ‘Tha Carter VI', (which has officially dropped). A sneak peek of a Mannie Fresh-produced single sets the tone for the group's reaction. That leads into talk about the Clipse and their upcoming album, along with the controversy surrounding their split from Def Jam, a move that allegedly involved a seven-figure buyout. The gang breaks down the label holdups around their Kendrick Lamar feature, which was reportedly being threatened to be censored or removed for taking shots at Drake. Staying on music, DJXP plays a leaked Lil Baby single that samples a Crime Mob classic. This triggers a debate on modern sampling, including what should be sampled, how it should be done, and some standout examples in 2025. DJXP then stands on a solo hill, boldly claiming that Erykah Badu's Baduizm deserves the same level of praise and acclaim as Lauryn Hill's The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill. The conversation shifts to Taylor Swift buying back her masters, Stefon Diggs matching Offset's energy, and Cardi B's clapback involving the NFL star. That opens the question: does having a spouse actually help your focus in sports? The gang runs through a quick list of ballplayers who had strong women by their side during their rise. There's a quick detour into Toronto Raptors speculation. Could they actually land Giannis? Reality sets in, and the conversation turns into a wild rabbit hole about Paul George being the unexpected centerpiece in multiple NBA shifts, including the Finals and SGA's rise. The group reflects on how the Raptors may have been positioned to win another championship during the bubble years if the core roster with Kawhi Leonard had stayed intact. To close the episode, a fiery and emotional final segment breaks out between Trivelle and OShauN, centered around a viral Facebook post from a stepfather venting about being disrespected by his daughter and her mother.

In Segment One, we explore the fading presence of mentorship programs like Big Brothers/Big Sisters, asking what happened, why fewer people are stepping up, and how we can revive mentorship — even informally. Segment Two takes a critical look at youth sports, questioning whether today's emphasis on image and social media has replaced the joy of play. The conversation shifts to how adults show up for kids and what real support looks like. Segment Three delivers a News Update on the recent New Orleans prison escape, sharing new details on the remaining fugitives and the systemic failures that allowed it to happen. In Segment Four, we break down new hip-hop drops from artists like Mavi & Earl Sweatshirt, Machine Gun Kelly, Key Glock, Ken Carson, and Lil Baby—highlighting trends and standout tracks. From the moment we hear those first notes blaring through stadium speakers, something magical happens. Baseball's walk-up songs do more than just fill empty space—they transform ordinary at-bats into cinematic moments, creating instant connections between players and fans.Matt and Sam dive into the fascinating world of MLB entrance music, exploring how these brief musical snippets reveal player personalities while energizing crowds. Whether it's Francisco Lindor's unexpected choice of "My Girl" that has entire Mets crowds singing in unison long after the music stops, or the bass-heavy swagger of Aaron Judge's "Swag Surfin'" that signals a potential home run, these musical decisions are carefully calculated for maximum impact. The conversation spans from classic rock anthems like "Layla" (Pete Alonso) and "Whole Lotta Love" (Austin Wells) to contemporary hits from Rihanna and Lil Baby, with each selection offering insight into the player behind it. We even venture into international territory with Korean star Young Hoo Lee's electrifying choice of Supreme Team's "Dang, Dang, Dang."Beyond the music itself, Matt and Sam explore the fascinating superstitions surrounding walk-up songs, including Nick Castellanos's strange reputation for hitting home runs during tragic news broadcasts, and how players often change their music during slumps or hitting streaks. With players getting just 30 seconds to make an impression through sound, every beat counts.Whether you're a baseball die-hard or simply appreciate how music heightens dramatic moments, this episode delivers an entertaining look at the soundtrack of America's pastime. Leadership and Adversity with a Baseball Mindset The Power of Leadership in Youth Baseball 11-year-old shortstop JJ Hamilton brings leadership and adversity with a baseball mindset to the field every time he plays. In this episode, Coach Aaron is joined by Dylan “Hollywood” Boyle and Banana Jake as they spotlight a young athlete already showing maturity beyond his years. JJ plays for the US Nationals Elite Midwest team and has been committed to baseball since he was three. When the pandemic hit, JJ didn't stop training. Instead, he adapted. His family transformed their basement into a personal workout facility with turf, weights, and a batting setup. Inspired by MLB stars like Paul Skenes, JJ began training with water resistance tools to improve his balance and explosiveness. He now uses this edge to lead by example on and off the field. As JJ says, “If your team’s doing bad, not like bad, but performance-wise, you can pick them up—and they watch what you do.” Adversity Builds Character and Mental Toughness JJ's story is more than just about sports. He's faced the pressure of travel tournaments, snowy off-seasons in Illinois, and balancing a full academic schedule. Despite those challenges, JJ has made the honor roll three times this year and even competes in middle school bowling. His discipline and time management reflect a young leader who takes his goals seriously. What makes JJ stand out is how he handles adversity. He knows how to reset and refocus, whether it's striking out or losing a big game. That growth mindset allows him to bounce back quickly. According to him, it's not just about personal performance—it's about lifting up teammates, leading with attitude, and playing for something bigger than yourself. Fun, Motivation, and Baseball Dreams Of course, baseball isn't all grind for JJ. He talks about his favorite walk-up song, “Commercial” by Lil Baby, and his love for MLB The Show. He's a Dodgers fan, and yes—he's got Mookie Betts and Patrick Mahomes posters on his wall. It's a playful reminder that kids can dream big while working hard. JJ also shares how he trained during COVID-19 by running in his neighborhood and practicing on his own. No one pushed him—he just had internal drive. That's what makes this episode so relatable and refreshing. Whether you’re a young player, a parent, or a coach, JJ's perspective shows that leadership and adversity go hand in hand when building a baseball mindset. DEEP THOUGHTS BY LIL DURK ALBUM REVIEW

A100SAVAGE

“More Deep Thoughts,” the eighth studio album by Chicago rapper Lil Durk, born Durk Derrick Banks, arrived on March 21, 2025, through Alamo Records and Only The Family (OTF), cementing his reign as a drill music titan. Spanning 22 tracks and 63 minutes, this follow-up to 2022's “7220” and its 2023 deluxe, “Almost Healed,” dives deeper into Durk's duality—street-hardened grit meets vulnerable reflection—while showcasing his evolution as a melodic storyteller. Released amid a banner year for the 32-year-old, who saw his Smurkchella festival sell out Chicago's United Center in February 2025, the album reflects both personal triumph and lingering pain, underscored by his ongoing legal battles and the loss of peers like King Von.The album opens with “Turn Up a Notch,” a menacing banger produced by Brizzy on Da Beat and Noc, where Durk's Auto-Tuned flow snarls over eerie keys and thumping 808s, signaling his intent to dominate. Lead single “Monitoring Me,” dropped in October 2024, blends haunting piano with boasts of resilience, peaking at #12 on the Billboard Hot 100 and setting the tone for a project heavy on introspection. Collaborations shine bright: Drake trades verses on the syrupy “Discontinuing Wockhardt,” 21 Savage snarls through “Internet Trolls,” and Future's woozy croon elevates “Late Checkout.” Rising stars like GloRilla and Lil Baby add fire to “Oprah's Bank Account” and “Went Hollywood for a Year,” respectively, while a posthumous King Von feature on “Same Me” delivers a gut punch of nostalgia.Production, helmed by Durk's go-to crew—Touch of Trent, Chopsquad DJ, and Noc—leans into drill's signature sound but softens it with melodic flourishes, a nod to his crossover appeal. Tracks like “Newsroom” and “Stomach Growling” tackle betrayal and hunger, both literal and figurative, with Durk lamenting lost friends and fake love. X posts from @LilDurkDaily praised its emotional heft, with one fan noting, “Durk really poured his soul into this, you can hear the growth.” The album's centerpiece, “Old Days,” a February 2025 loosie turned fan favorite, mourns his pre-fame simplicity over a soulful sample, earning comparisons to “What Happened to Virgil” for its raw honesty.“More Deep Thoughts” isn't without flaws—its 22-track length drags at times, and some cuts like “Bad Guy” feel formulaic. Yet, its highs are undeniable. Thematically, it wrestles with Durk's O Block roots, his role as a father of seven, and the weight of surviving a war-torn scene, all while dodging a 2024 murder-for-hire charge tied to a 2022 L.A. shooting. Rolling Stone gave it 4 stars, calling it “a victory lap with scars,” while Pitchfork lauded its “cinematic scope.” Debuting at #1 on the Billboard 200 with 185,000 units, it's his third chart-topper, proving his commercial clout. As of March 27, 2025, with Durk free on bond and teasing a deluxe via X, “More Deep Thoughts” stands as a testament to his staying power—a bruised, defiant diary of a drill king still fighting to heal.

MORE LEAKS BY NBA YOUNGBOY REVIEW

“More Leaks,” the fourth compilation album by Baton Rouge rapper YoungBoy Never Broke Again (Kentrell Gaulden), dropped on March 7, 2025, via Never Broke Again and Motown Records, serving as a gritty send-off before his anticipated prison release later that summer. Clocking in at 48 minutes across 16 tracks, this project arrived while YoungBoy was still incarcerated, serving a 23-month sentence for federal gun charges stemming from a 2020 arrest in Louisiana, with additional legal woes tied to prescription drug fraud in Utah. Billed by his team as his “last project” before freedom, “More Leaks” compiles previously teased snippets and unreleased cuts, offering fans a raw, unfiltered glimpse into his relentless creative output despite confinement. The album kicks off with “Trapped Out,” a menacing opener that sets the tone with booming 808s and YoungBoy's signature raspy aggression, reflecting the claustrophobia of his legal battles. Tracks like “Rich Junkie” and “Cut Throat” maintain this high-octane energy, driven by producers like D-Roc and Jason “Cheese” Goldberg, who amplify the trap-heavy sound YoungBoy's built his empire on. The lead single, “5 Night,” released February 28, 2025, pairs a hypnotic beat with visuals of YoungBoy dancing beside a G-Wagon, a stark contrast to his prison reality. Posts on X from fans like @YoungboySnippet highlight the vault's depth, with one noting, “Shows how crazy his vault is man, stuff [has] been getting leaked for months and still has songs which are very good.” Indeed, the title “More Leaks” nods to this chaotic rollout, embracing the flood of unofficial releases that have kept his name buzzing. While “More Leaks” lacks the polish of albums like “Sincerely, Kentrell” (2021), it compensates with raw intensity. Tracks like “Never Stopping” and “Meet the Reaper,” briefly available before being yanked from Spotify post-leak, resurface here, satisfying diehards who've tracked his every move. The production leans minimalist—think distorted bass and eerie synths—mirroring his isolated mindset, though some criticize its lack of variety. HotNewHipHop called it a “love-it-or-hate-it album,” noting its appeal to fans craving aggression over evolution. Features are sparse, with only a rumored Lil Baby verse on “Lost Soul” making the cut, keeping the focus squarely on YoungBoy's unapologetic delivery.Thematically, “More Leaks” wrestles with fame's weight and street loyalty, though introspection takes a backseat to bravado. Lines like “I'm still thuggin' ‘til I'm gone” from “Cut Throat” underscore his defiance, a sentiment echoed in his legal saga—pleading guilty yet dodging harsher penalties via a global settlement. Billboard reported its debut at #3 on the Top Rap Albums chart, a testament to his loyal fanbase, even as critics argue it's more a stopgap than a statement. Recorded partly before his December 2024 sentencing, the album's sound quality impressed peers like engineer Jason Goldberg, who lauded similar prison-recorded efforts on the “Ray Daniels Presents” show.As of March 27, 2025, with YoungBoy reportedly released early on March 24 from Talladega, Alabama, per HipHopDX, “More Leaks” bridges his incarceration and freedom. It's not his strongest work—lacking the cohesion of “Top” (2020)—but its chaotic energy mirrors his life, making it a fitting cap to a turbulent chapter.

We're back, fresh off of public transportation because who the f&!# is paying NYC congestion pricing?! In this economy?! After Rory gives us a brief recap of going out to twirl his cane for his frat's founders day, we get into the controversy that's been running the internet all weekend - Joy Taylor, Skip Bayless, and the lawsuit against FS1 (14:14). Some things we believe, some we don't, and some we can't seem to agree on. Liangelo Ball has a viral song on his hands, so if you've heard our Patreon episode from yesterday, it seems Rory ACTUALLY deserves some flowers this time (48:45). Speaking of viral songs, Drake is back in the headlines and back in (some of) our hearts after a planned leak of a song he had seemingly dissing Drake has surfaced online (55:40). The team gives their honest opinions, does a slight lyric breakdown, and has some theories on who else might have caught a stray. Unlike Drake, Kanye isn't standing on business in his beef with Kai Cenat, which seems to have been solved with a post alluding to a rollout for a new project (1:22:50). Mal is standing on his assumption that it will be AI, and the team is split on whether AI will ruin music and whether Kanye will be the artist to spearhead that. Lil Baby's album isn't exactly garnering rave reviews - and the NRM cast is not here to disagree (1:38:00). Do you agree with them that this was Lil' Baby's last chance to dial up his relevancy again? Also discussed: a blatant post from Gunna's lawyer claiming his innocence (1:53:15), a rapper/idiot almost shooting himself and a podcast team (1:58:20), two voicemails asking for our advice on instances where the women are putting the men to shame (2:05:04), + more!
