Drake's long awaited and anticipated album 'CERTIFIED LOVER BOY' (1:45) is here, and to no surprise it's breaking records. But does it bring anything new to the table? The latest film from the horror legend James Wan has premiered in theaters and on HBO Max with 'MALIGNANT'(34:32), is this possibly the most divisive horror film in the last decade? There was another movie that was released in theaters and HBO Max a couple weeks ago starring Hugh Jackman called 'REMINISCENCE' (53:24) and as always we had to discuss the latest episode of Marvel's 'WHAT IF...?' (1:01:20) titled 'WHAT IF....ZOMBIES?'. We lost a real legend this past week with the passing of Michael K. Williams. Whether it was 'THE WIRE', 'LOVECRAFT COUNTRY', or his activism and love for the community, he always made sure that he touched the people of the black community the best way he knew how. And we can't thank him enough for lending us his fervor and talent that will last generations. RIP. 2BlackNerds.com

Donda vs Certified Lover Boy: Battle for #1 rages between Kanye West and Drake Kanye West's ‘Donda' is expected to debut at number one on the US album charts and Drake's 'Certified Lover Boy' is not far behind in the competition The first week numbers for ‘Donda' have been locked and yes, it does appear that Kanye might have another number one album in his kitty. According to Chart Data, the Atlanta native's new studio effort has pulled 327K in its first week with 44,311 arriving by way of traditional sales. We still have time to see whether he will score his ninth number one album or not but the numbers are surely looking promising. According to Chart Data's tweet, ‘Donda' is expected to debut at number one on the US album charts. “@kanyewest's 'DONDA' to debut at #1 on the US albums chart with 327K sold first week. It earns the biggest debut of the year (via @HITSDD).” Kanye West's previous albums like ‘Watch The Throne' with Jay Z , ‘My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy', ‘Yeezus', ‘Graduation', ‘Late Registration', ‘The College Dropout', ‘The Life Of Pablo' and ‘Ye' peaked at number one on the charts. Social media users took to Twitter to discuss Kanye West's scoring another number one album with ‘Donda'. While a few extended their support to the rapper, others claimed that Drake will outsell him soon with ‘CLB'. One user on a similar line claimed, “Drake finna outsell.” Whereas, the next one posted, “Drake gonna do 525k with CLB. Calling it.” One user added, “Just deserved.. It's an amazing album even though I'm not a Kanye fan, I had to listen to track by track and see what really is one of the best albums of this year. Whoever disagrees doesn't know what he's talking about. CLB will not reach Donda.” The next one tweeted, “Dropped on a Sunday mother**king afternoon and still dominated.” While one shared, “Not just Album of the Year, it's Album of the Life.” Another person said, “Dropped on a Sunday and still went crazy easy 500k+ if it was on Friday.” One user claimed, “DONDA is for the longevity and creativity.” And, another concluded, “If Kanye would've dropped on Friday he would have sold 500k.” --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/masseffect/support

This episode talks about Vell's lack of interest for intimacy with another man's woman. The Good Read for this episode is The Soulmate Equation by Christina Lauren. Raised by her grandparents—who now help raise her seven-year-old daughter, Juno—Jess has been left behind too often to feel comfortable letting anyone in. After all, her father's never been around, her hard-partying mother disappeared when she was six, and her ex decided he wasn't “father material” before Juno was even born. Jess holds her loved ones close, but working constantly to stay afloat is hard...and lonely. What's popping in Vell's World consist of Michael K. 1989's Loverboy is another vehicle for 80s era Patrick Dempsey, who is gangly AF as Randy, a 20 year old college student desperate to earn money for his college tuition once his dad shuts down the money train after his grades tank. Randy gets a job at Senor Pizza delivering pizzas and eventually orgasms once he stumbles upon the idea of selling his body and time to the lonely married women of the LA area desperate for companionship since all their husbands are big time losers. Believe it or not, this movie about male prostitution is kind of sweet and silly and the 80s LA vibe is really fun to watch. We'll talk about the acting career of Patrick Dempsey - from geek to McDreamy, what the point of a negligee is, and randomly talk about the rebranding of the brussel sprout from gross veg to the side dish of the decade! This podcast ain't just about movies, folks!
This week, Steve and Ian are getting ready for festival season. Pitchfork Festival is finally here, featuring sets from Dogleg, Oso Oso, and Bartees Strange and marking the tripling of the fest's notorious “token DIY/emo” acts. This year, festival season arrives in the fall, which leads into a question from a listener asking which albums are indicative of the changing of the leaves for our two hosts. This week's episode is centered around Minnesota trio Low, who has been regularly releasing music over the last 30 years or so. Recently, Low's consistent catalogue was starting to feel like they were tapering off, but their thirteenth studio album, Hey What, has them back in the saddle for their best collection of songs in recent memory. Perhaps this is the result of the prominence of the vocals on this album — where the voices were frequently buried amid the glitchy instrumentation on previous efforts, Hey What has the dual vocalists front and center, often cutting through the musical mayhem behind them.In this week's Recommendation Corner, Ian is plugging 2012, the new album from Pittsburgh band Brightside. Meanwhile, Steve wants to bring your attention to the forthcoming album from Irish post-punk band Silverbacks.New episodes of Indiecast drop every Friday.
