A famous pastor out of Oklahoma got very literal in his sermon this weekend about seeing God's hazy vision for ourselves in 2022 -- needing to hawk one to make his point. Michael Todd, who leads the Transformation Church in Tulsa, conjured up grossed-out reactions from his congregation Sunday during his service -- which was being streamed for the folks at home. The reason ... he wiped his own spit all over the face of his brother who was up there volunteering for the yuck fest. An Instagram model is accusing Drake of getting a little too spicy during a recent romantic encounter, which allegedly took place at the rapper's hotel a few weeks ago. The model claims that the self-proclaimed Certified Lover Boy - born Aubrey Drake Graham - added a packet of hot sauce into a used condom in order to kill his sperm after the two had sex. Kanye West is taking aim at Pete Davidson while using his music to speak out about his divorce. In a new song with The Game entitled "Eazy," the rapper, 44, makes his feelings about the 28-year-old Saturday Night Live star, who is currently dating West's estranged wife Kim Kardashian. In the track, released Friday, West references his near-fatal car crash from 2002 and raps, "God saved me from that crash/ just so I can beat Pete Davidson's ass." After Davidson's name is mentioned, a woman's voice, which sounds a lot like his estranged wife's, is sampled and says "Who?". It's been six years since Adele released her widely praised last album, “25.” In the time since, Adele has experienced major personal upheaval as she went through a divorce. With “30” — officially out Friday and already considered the best album of her career by many critics — the singer not surprisingly presents a more mature sound. Adele's 30 has captured the biggest week of 2021 for any album in the U.S., surpassing the debut of Drake's Certified Lover Boy. According to initial reports to MRC Data, 30 has earned more than 660,000 equivalent album units in the U.S. from its Nov. 19 release through Nov. 22, with over 560,000 of that sum in traditional album sales. In terms of weekly units earned, 30 has now beaten the debut week of Drake's Certified Lover Boy, which launched with 613,000 units earned in the week ending Sept. 9. Equivalent album units comprise album sales, track equivalent albums (TEA) and streaming equivalent albums (SEA). Each unit equals one album sale, or 10 individual tracks sold from an album, or 3,750 ad-supported or 1,250 paid/subscription on-demand official audio and video streams generated by songs from an album. It was earlier reported that 30 is also 2021's top-selling album (surpassing the sales of any album over the past 11 months combined) and has the year's largest week for any album in terms of traditional album sales, beating the debut of Taylor Swift's Red (Taylor's Version), which sold 369,000 copies in the week ending Nov. 18. The current tracking week ends at the close of business on Nov. 25. Billboard is scheduled to announce the album's official final first-week numbers on Sunday, Nov. 28, after MRC Data has completed processing the week's data. If 30 debuts at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 albums chart dated Dec. 4 (which reflects the tracking week ending Nov. 25), it will mark Adele's third No. 1. She previously topped the list with her last two studio albums: 25 (10 weeks in 2015-16) and 21 (24 weeks in 2011-12). Jon Batiste topped the nominations for the 2022 Grammy Awards, scoring a near-record 11 nods. The Oscar winner, who currently serves as the band leader on The Late Show With Stephen Colbert and released the album We Are earlier this year, landed nods in the top categories of record of the year and album of the year. Those and the other two general field categories — song of the year and best new artist — now each feature 10 nominees, up from eight, with the Recording Academy announcing the expansion in a letter to members timed to this year's announcement. “We are living at a time of extraordinary growth in music,” the letter reads in part. “As many as 60,000 songs a day are being released or uploaded to streaming services. With so much more music available, there is simply more excellence to recognize — and celebrate. Adding new nominees to these fields is a way to cast a wider net, to make room for more artists and genres from music's expansive and diverse landscape, and to embrace the spirit of inclusion.” Beyond that, the Recording Academy says it's receiving a record number of entries each year, with this year's total entries reaching nearly 22,000. Next year, the 64th annual Grammy Awards will be a battle royale between some of the biggest names in the music industry. Though singer Jon Baptise reigns supreme with a staggering 11 nominations, it's the rap field that may serve as the most contentious clash, with a number of A-listers nominated. On Tuesday afternoon (Nov. 23), Kanye West, Drake, J. Cole, and more dominated the rap categories, with West walking away with five nominations, most for his latest album DONDA. West, now known as Ye, currently has 22 Grammy wins and will have an opportunity to finally clinch that elusive album of the year win he's been longing for throughout his career. The storylines are abundant for West; not only does DONDA receive an album of the year look over Drake's Certified Lover Boy, but he will go against long-time rival Taylor Swift in the same category. West will have an equally tricky path in the best rap album category, as he'll go against some of the genre's brightest stars: J. Cole, Tyler, The Creator, Drake, and last year's winner, Nas. As for major snubs, look no further than Drake and Megan Thee Stallion. Despite notching the year's best number for first-week units moved — as well as a record-breaking nine songs in the top ten on the Billboard Hot 100 — in its debut week, Certified Lover Boy failed to get any recognition for album of the year. (The album that held the honor for 2021's biggest week prior to CLB, Ye's Donda, was recognized in the AOTY category.) And though Megan netted three awards last year, including best new artist, her debut album Good News didn't receive any nominations today. Still, Megan's 2021 single “Thot S–t” found recognition in best rap performance. Be on the lookout for the 64th annual Grammy Awards, which will take place in Los Angeles on Jan. 31. --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/masseffect/support

Sheeran's “=” (pronounced “equals”) opens at the top of the Billboard 200 with modest streaming numbers for a star of his magnitude. Ed Sheeran may be one of the world's most popular artists on music streaming services, but his latest turn at No. 1 owes a lot to old-fashioned album sales. Sheeran's new album, “=” (pronounced “equals”), opens at the top of the Billboard chart with the equivalent of 118,000 sales in the United States, including nearly 62 million streams and 68,000 copies sold as a complete package, according to MRC Data, Billboard's tracking arm. Those numbers are modest for a star of Sheeran's magnitude. He draws 76.8 million listeners a month on Spotify, more than any other artist except Justin Bieber, and Sheeran's 2017 song “Shape of You” is that service's biggest hit ever, with 2.96 billion streams worldwide. (Its music video also has 5.5 billion views on YouTube.) Yet the 62 million clicks for “=” is the least number of streams for any new title at No. 1 this year, and streaming overall accounts for only about 39 percent of its total consumption in the United States. Of the 68,000 copies that were sold as complete packages, 33,000 were digital downloads, 26,000 were CDs and 9,000 were vinyl LPs, according to MRC. Also this week, Drake's “Certified Lover Boy” falls one spot to No. 2, Morgan Wallen's “Dangerous: The Double Album” is No. 3, and Doja Cat's “Planet Her” is No. 4. Megan Thee Stallion's “Something for Thee Hotties,” a compilation of stray tracks, opens at No. 5 with the equivalent of 39,000 sales. On the singles chart, Adele's “Easy on Me” holds at No. 1 for a third week, while anticipation in the music industry builds for her new album, “30,” due Nov. 19. --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/masseffect/support

"Kanye vs. Drake." That standoff has been brewing for quite some time, and it finally reached a head these past few months with the release of Donda and Certified Lover Boy. Of course Drake has thrown his lyrical shots during that period—but Kanye has as well. And Ok Ok is the most direct Kanye has ever been about the feud. On this episode, we discuss the poetry of Kanye's diss, as well as Lil Yachty's dark, disturbing verse and Rooga's passionate cry to move on from such negativity.
