First, the bad news: After careful consideration, I've decided to suspend production of The Christian Bro Code Podcast, YouTube channel and Facebook Page. Now, the good news (at least for me it is!): I will continue to provide teachings via a podcast and YouTube channel. The podcast will be new. The YouTube channel and Facebook page will be The Christian Bro Code rebranded. The teachings on the new podcast and YouTube channel will be very similar - almost identical - to what I taught in The Christian Bro Code Podcast. They will not be specifically for men, however. Instead, they will be for Christians who are seeking to grow as disciples of Jesus. The goal of the teachings is to equip you to advance the mission Jesus started. What now? From now on, you can find me online at www.marioescobedo.org. To make sure you never miss a teaching, visit my new website and join my email list. Better yet, sign up for the new workshop I just created titled, "The Call To Discipleship." I think you'll like it. Finally ... Thank you, thank you, thank you. I've received so many positive messages and comments from you and I can't thank you enough. My prayer is that I can continue to provide you teachings that help you grow. God bless, bro!

Growth doesn't happen on its own or just because you want it to happen. Growth happens when you decide to grow, map out a growth plan and then put it into action. 2020 was … different, and only God knows what's in store for us in 2021. But, one thing is for sure. Regardless of what happened in 2020 or of what awaits you in 2021, you can grow. Make no mistake about it, though. Growth will only happen if you plan on it and if you take action. In this final episode of 2020, I share some pointers that should help you have a fruitful 2021. I hope you enjoy it and I hope it helps you. See you in 2021!

What a crazy election season it's been! I'm sure you have your own very unique political views and opinions. And I'm sure that, whatever they may be, you're convinced that they are absolutely right and that anybody who doesn't share them must be taking stupid pills. And, it's very likely that you're not shy about your views or about sharing them with others. Well, be that as it may, I'd like to suggest to you that there is a particular characteristic that we must display as disciples of Jesus that just might affect how much and how often we give the world a piece of our mind. That characteristic is meekness. In this episode I'll share with you my definition of meekness and how it should play out in our lives. Believe me, kingdom-wise, there's a lot at stake if we don't demonstrate meekness. Be sure to like and share the episode and subscribe to the podcast. God bless, bro!

But, have you gotten to the point that you've started to doubt in God? If that's where you find yourself, take a listen to this episode. Now, fair warning, you're not going to hear the stuff you typically hear like "God is with you; Don't give up, etc., etc." All that is true and we need to hear it. But in this episode I'm going to put some of the responsibility of overcoming your doubt squarely on your own shoulders. Now, don't worry. I'm not going to judge you or put you down or anything like that. I just want you to see that there's a lot more that you can do than you think.

Since March of 2020 we've all been living in some kind of alternate reality. Among other things happening in our nation and world, COVID has impacted our lives in ways nobody could have foreseen. I think we all know change is inevitable. But there's a huge difference between living with changes you chose and changes that you did not choose. In the case of of COVID and 2020, we didn't choose change - change chose us! So, as disciples of Jesus, what should be our attitude and reaction to unexpected changes that are thrust on us? That's what I'm going to talk to you about in this episode. I'll be looking at Isaiah 43, primarily verses 16-19, as a basis for this discussion. We'll look at two attitudes to change. I'll suggest that there is one attitude God wants us to avoid and another He wants us to embrace. Choose incorrectly and you could miss out on the new things God is planning. Second, this episode is like vegetables. You may not like it, but it'll be good for you. This episode is part of our three-part series on Obed-Edom. This episode is all about God's provision. What it means for God to provide for you and what are the conditions for God to provide for you. Here's where we might disagree. I think you should tithe. I think all disciples of Jesus should tithe. I explain why I think that way. I also explain why I don't buy in to two of the most common reasons given for not tithing. There's a story in 2 Samuel 6 about a Bro named Obed-Edom. That assignment will impact others, for sure. But, it will also make you feel crazy satisfied and full of purpose. There's a catch, though. If you want to be part of God's master plan to heal humanity's brokenness, you have to give up your own agenda. Your life will have to be governed by the agenda of the Kingdom of God. Is it worth the trade-off? That's what you'll have to decide. In this episode I focus on Acts 1:3-8. In this passage the disciples were ready to advance an agenda. The problem was that it wasn't the agenda of the Kingdom of God. Jesus had to guide them so that they could see the importance of living according to the agenda of the Kingdom of God. It can be hard to overcome the feelings of guilt and shame when you do something a follower of Jesus shouldn't do. I know it's happened to me - too many times. I'll be in a worship service where I feel God's presence in a very real way. Then – out of nowhere – I remember that not too long ago I did something a follower of Jesus shouldn't do. Instantly, I'm overcome by feelings of guilt and shame. It's hard for me to continue enjoying the wonderful presence of God because all I can think of is what I did. The feelings of guilt and shame can be overwhelming. It's understandable that we would carry around those feelings of guilt and shame. It's understandable, but not necessary. The reason Jesus died on the cross was to remove our guilt and shame. Still, it can be hard to overcome those feelings. In this episode, I share insight about a powerful word Jesus used when he restored his disciples. The word is "Shalom." You probably know that "Shalom" means peace, but there's much more to the word than just peace. Learning about what this word means will encourage you. You will understand that Jesus does not want you to carry around your feelings of guilt and shame. He wants to restore you and give you what you need to overcome those feelings of guilt and shame. This episode is a Bible Study about "doubting" Thomas in John 20:24-29. If your faith in Jesus has ever gone through a moment of doubt, this episode will help you understand that Jesus doesn't condemn you because you doubted. As we walk through this passage, I point out two key insights that I know will encourage you and show you that Jesus doesn't define you by your moment of doubt. "Doubting" Thomas was one of Jesus' twelve disciples. He walked with Jesus for three years. He witnessed the many miracles of Jesus. He saw Jesus liberate those oppressed by demonic powers. He witnessed Jesus heal countless individuals of diseases and illnesses. In spite of all he witnessed, Thomas doubted. When the other disciples told them that Jesus had risen from the dead, Thomas doubted. Not only did he doubt, but he declared that it would take an incredible amount of undeniable proof to get him to believe. Although Thomas doubted, Jesus did not condemn him for his doubt. If you've ever doubted what Jesus can do, Jesus does not condemn you for your doubt! Do Men Need Friends?

In this episode I talk about what I think is one of the most important reasons that men need friends. You might be thinking, "Why are friends important?" Well, a man needs friends. A bro needs bros! So tune in to see how I answer the question, "Why are friends important?" To explain what I think is one of the most important reasons that men need friends, I look at a well-known story from the Bible. It's the story of Samson in the book of Judges chapters 13-16. Maybe you've never seen the story of Samson as offering a lesson on why men need friends, but believe me it does! You might find it interesting to know that every time Samson defeated the Philistines or did something impressive with his strength, he did it to deliver his own self from some kind of mess he got into with the Philistines. Not once in all his fights with the Philistines did Samson do a single thing to deliver Israel from the Philistine oppression. It was always about delivering himself from a mess he got himself into. That little bit of insight becomes really important as we see how his story teaches us a lesson on the importance of having friends. Why Do Christians Fast?

In Google start typing, "Why do Christians" and the first item that appears in the Auto Complete box is "Why do Christians Fast?" That means that "Why do Christians Fast?" is one of the web's most searched questions about Christians. Apparently, people want to know the truth about Christians and fasting! So in this episode I'm doing an "Auto Complete Answer" to the question "Why Do Christians Fast?" I'm willing to bet that most of the people searching for "Why do Christians fast?" are Christians themselves. Probably because there's confusion even among Christians as to why Christians fast. In this episode I talk about some wrong reasons for fasting and the real purpose behind why Christians fast, at least the way I see it. You're going to find many different explanations for fasting. Part of the reason for that is that the Bible doesn't give one clear definitive reason as to why Christians should fast. Not only that, but as far as I can tell, the Bible doesn't give a clear explanation as to what the purpose of fasting is. Because of that, we are left to piece together an answer to the question "Why do Christians fast?" from the different occurrences of fasting in the Bible. To answer the question, "Why do Christians fast?" I look at a passage in Scripture to flesh out the answer. The passage involves fasting, but fasting isn't the main point of the passage. The passage is 2 Samuel 12. 2 Samuel 12 is about an instance in King David's life when he committed a pretty terrible sin. In response to being confronted with this sin by the prophet Nathan about this sin, David decided to fast. The results of the fast are going to surprise you. But, they are going to help us understand fasting better and answer the question, "Why do Christians fast?" The conversation in this episode is a continuation of episode 16 where I shared principles 1, 2 and 3 of conflict resolution in marriage. This episode covers principles 4, 5 and 6. Here's what you'll learn in this value-packed episode: Principle #4 is "Listen to your teammate." I'll tell you why it's important to listen to your wife. No, I mean really listen! You might think you're listening, but are you really? Then, Principle #5, "No Trash Talking!" I'm going to tell you why trash talking is so dangerous to your marriage. I'm going to tell you who is the most dangerous group of people to talk to about conflict in your marriage. This one is going to surprise you! As you learn about these three techniques for resolving conflict in marriage, understand this: Conflict in marriage isn't a bad thing. You're going to have conflict in your marriage. Just accept it! It doesn't mean you're a bad husband or that she's a bad wife. It doesn't mean you have a bad marriage. It means you're two humans with their own wants and needs trying to get along with each other. The key is to understand that conflict done incorrectly will weaken your marriage and eventually tear it apart. But conflict done correctly will strengthen your marriage and draw you and your wife closer to each other. If you get serious about learning how to resolve conflict in your marriage, you're going to have a much happier marriage a much happier wife, which of course means a much happier life. These Six Principles for Conflict Resolution in Marriage address a problem that I see lots of Bros face in their marriage. The problem sounds like this: *My wife and I need help resolving conflict in our marriage. What can we do? The solution to that problem is this episode's Big Idea: **Learn how to use conflict to strengthen your marriage. There will always be conflict in marriage. Always. Why? Because you and your wife are two completely different people. Each of you wants what you want. When you don't get what you want, guess what? There's conflict in your marriage! If you don't handle conflict in your marriage the right way, the conflict will weaken your marriage. Conflict will create distance between you and your wife. So believe it or not, conflict can make your marriage grow stronger - you just have to do it right! Now, six principles for conflict resolution in marriage is a lot. How do I raise kids who love God? Just talk about God, Bro! In this episode I tackle the question, "How do I raise kids who love God?" The short answer is - Just talk about God, Bro! Specifically, there are two things you need to talk about to raise kids who love God. Talk about what God expects and what God has done. To talk about what God expects means to explain to your kids why your family does certain things. You also talk about why you don't do certain things. Your reason can't be "just because." Explain to your kids that you do certain things and avoid others because you feel that is what God expects of your family. How do I raise kids who love God? Talk about what God expects. But to raise kids who love God, you also have to talk about what God has done. Why? Because your kids probably haven't experienced God's power for themselves yet. You have to talk to them about what God has done. God has done some incredible things for you! The only way your kids are going to know about them is if you talk to your kids about what God has done. To raise kids who love God it's important that you talk about both what God expects AND what God has done. Don't just talk about one or the other. Talk to your kids about both. In the episode I tell you why. There's a lot to learn from this episode. So in answer to the question, "How do I raise kids who love God?" Talk about what God expects and what God has done! Understand this - God is more than willing and ready to bless you and your family. So why isn't he doing it, then? The truth is that it's not God's fault. It's all on you, bro! There might be things in your home that are blocking the flow of God's blessing for your family. If that's the case, then guess what? It's time to clean house, Bro! In this episode I look at the story of Obed-Edom, a Bro in the Bible who lived during the time of King David. This Bro did something crazy, but the result was that God blessed his family big-time! God's blessing will result in a better relationship with your kids. It's a great privilege to have God's blessing on your family. But understand that it requires a significant commitment. You drifted. The same can happen in your marriage. If you're not careful, you'll wake up one morning and realize that your marriage is far from where you want it to be. You let it drift. But it doesn't have to be that way. In this episode of The Christian Bro Code Podcast we'll tackle the question, "What can I do to keep my marriage from drifting?" Maybe your marriage has already drifted. You can get it back on track! Maybe you haven't been married that long and you see how miserable other married bros are. You think to yourself, "Is that going to happen to me?" It doesn't have to! You can keep your marriage from drifting. This episode's Big Idea is, "Show love frequently and visibly." Why do you need to show love frequently? Because the world is going to end pretty soon. No, for real! You better get as much loving in as you can before that happens! If you don't show love frequently, your marriage is guaranteed to drift. Why do you need to show love visibly? Because good intentions won't keep a marriage from drifting. You have to use words and actions to show your wife that you love her. If you don't show love visibly, your marriage is guaranteed to drift. I added a new segment to the show called, "Bring home the Bacon!" It's the part of the episode when I give you a practical way to apply the Big Idea. Is it ok for a Christian Bro to judge others? The short answer - Yes. It's ok for a Christian Bro to judge others - except when it's not ok for a Christian Bro to judge others. Make sense? I've heard it a bunch of times and I'm sure you've heard it a lot too. It goes something like this, "You can't judge me! Who are you to judge! Don't judge me! Only God can judge me!" This type of response is what we use when someone starts pointing out something in our life that may be wrong. We use this type of response when somebody starts telling the truth about a certain area in our life, and it starts to make us feel a little uncomfortable. So we say something to give them the hint that we want them to stop. We know they're telling the truth, but it makes us feel uncomfortable so we use that kind of response to push them away a little bit. And it works! Nobody wants to be labeled as a judgemental person. We're all afraid of being called judgmental. And so when somebody says something like that - people tend to back off immediately. And so here's the question I want to deal with in this episode of the Christian Bro Code Podcast. "Is it OK for a Christian Bro to judge others?" I'll talk about two passage in the Bible that I think demonstrate clearly that when it comes to judging others, it's ok; except when it's not ok.

Figuring out God's will for your life can be tricky. It can feel like trying to hold on to a slippery fish you just pulled out of the water. One minute you're holding on to it and the next minute it slips right out of your hands. What's a bro to do? In this first episode of The Christian Bro Code Podcast we'll tackle the question, “Figuring out God's will for my life – is there a better way or should I just keep guessing?” To answer this question, we'll look at 1 Samuel 3, when the prophet Samuel was just a little bro. Samuel did two things that put him in a place where he could hear God's voice and know God's will for his life. It'd be good to follow that bro's example. MarioEscobedo.com – Check out my website.
