Today, science has uncovered many wonders about the cosmos and about life within it, but science has also "reduced" most everything in the universe to virtually nothing. In our attempt to understand the universe and ourselves down to a quantified, subatomic constituency we have not only emptied the universe, but also virtually emptied ourselves. C.S. Lewis well understood that scientific quantification of the physical universe and scientific empiricism in general, cannot be the foundational paradigm for how we understand the cosmos and our place within it. Lewis was not criticizing science per se, however. Rather, he was highly critical of the belief that the scientific quantification of reality was the only way to understand reality. In such a universe, the essential facets of what make us human, morality, virtue, truth, beauty, and goodness all become mere emotive sentiments. This week on the Profile we continue our conversation with C.S. Lewis scholar Dr. Michael Ward about Lewis's prescient work The Abolition of Man and how it remains relevant for us today. From michaelward.netMichael Ward is an English literary critic and theologian. He works at the University of Oxford where he is an associate member of the Faculty of Theology and Religion. He is the author of the award-winning and best-selling Planet Narnia: The Seven Heavens in the Imagination of C.S. Lewis (Oxford University Press) and of After Humanity: A Guide to C.S. Lewis's The Abolition of Man (Word on Fire Academic); he is the co-editor of The Cambridge Companion to C.S. Lewis (Cambridge University Press). Though based at Oxford in his native England, Dr Ward is also employed as Professor of Apologetics at Houston Christian University, Texas, teaching one course per semester as part of the online MA program in Christian Apologetics.Free Four-Page Articles From Watchman FellowshipCharles Darwin Carl Sagan's CosmosNaturalism Deconstruction FREE: We are also offering a subscription to our 4-page bimonthly Profiles here: www.watchman.org/Free.PROFILE NOTEBOOK: Order the complete collection of Watchman Fellowship Profiles (over 600 pages -- from Astrology to Zen Buddhism) in either printed or PDF formats here: www.watchman.org/notebook. In a time of deep disagreements, conflicting facts, and moral confusion, where can we turn for guidance? In this session, we turn to Psalm 19. Through this psalm we discover what it means to attend to God, hear his voice, and have our troubled souls healed by his wise and comforting words.

A Word in Season
Psalm 19 - Kevin Cowling - Wednesday Evening, October 29, 2025 by First Baptist Church of Hammond
How does God show His glory through His creation. How His glory shines in each day of creation.
Today’s Bible Verse:"The law of the Lord is perfect, refreshing the soul. The statutes of the Lord are trustworthy, making wise the simple." — Psalm 19:7 When life leaves you drained or confused, Scripture revives what the world wears down. Psalm 19:7 reminds us that God’s Word doesn’t just instruct—it restores. His truth brings clarity, peace, and direction to weary hearts. Meet Today’s Host: Reverend Jessica Van Roekel

Psalm 19 The Greatest Books In The Universe
Most people believe that something is out there. Something larger than ourselves. Something that at least got it all started. Some kind of God...but they really don't want to know any more than that. They're content to keep God at arm's length, shrouded in mystery, unknowable. A mysterious God can't make any demands on my life so let's keep God vague. The Ten Commandments tell a different story. They are part of God's self disclosure and reveal the very character and nature of the Divine Being who made it all and rules it all. Come explore this mystery in this new season of Gospel Wabi Sabi.
What is truth? In a world that seeks to be autonomous crafters of individual "truths", we as Christians must live in the light of the reality God has created and declared. In this message Pastor Jeremy Writebol develops Woodside's core value of truth in and how we can value the truth well.

Psalm 19:1-4 Romans 1:18-20
Let's say the Bible is perfect. If so, what is the big deal? What actual good does it do for me?Our hero and knucklehead David answers this in the 2nd half of Psalm 19. He argues and exclaims that it is indeed perfect and declares his affection toward it. Then he gets to the nitty gritty. The Word is not without effect. It then comments accurately on sin, error and faults. If I listen, it can be a VERY big deal. Join me and Asa for 7 minutes of thoughts on the matter.https://youtu.be/LQQ6WpQGj7w
