Suicide is increasing! My 8 Books: Amazon.com/Richard-A-Hardin/e/B09J2YHCVB---Today is especially a critical time because so many people look happy and act like they are having fun while even that is causing the suicidal person to hurt more. Be careful how you treat people. People are living with so much hurt from death of loved ones, divorce, fear of the times, financial fears, so much sickness, etc. If you are starting to feel hopeless, don't consider suicide until you have at least tried or given Jesus a chance. I don't care what your religious past has been, just call out to Jesus with a sincere heart and ask for His help. Jesus will send you the help you need as long as you are open and honest in your request. I can't tell you how, because everyone's situation is different, but I know He will reveal Himself to you because He created you, loves you and wants a personal relationship with you. You are very special to Him, Jesus even died for you!*** Suicide is one of the leading means of death in our society and is increasing because of our present country situation. The Scriptures state in Proverbs 13:12, "Hope deferred maketh the heart sick:" When a person loses "all" hope: job, friends, family, or you do something and you see no way out, and on top of all this you see no love from anyone or anywhere to turn--the sick empty heart wants an escape!-death, end it all. But, that is not the end of it all: an eternity of hell or heaven waits just on the other side of death! Instantly you will be in God's presence or the total separation from God which is the beginning of an eternity of suffering in hell and the lake of fire.If you have young people in your family pay particular attention to them and maybe even ask them about their friends because suicide is the second highest leading cause of death in young people ages 12 - 24, and is increasing because of all the drugs coming across our borders, poor incomes, and future outlook. The military is experiencing higher rates of suicide because of separation from families. On KLRNRadio.com 7AM CST Wed #GPWF #Christian or any time at rahardin.com (Podcast)

This is a Special Edition of the Shaping Opinion Podcast called “1979: City of Champions.” In this extended episode (90 minutes), we take you to when Pittsburgh became the “City of Champions,” and how its impact went well beyond the field, or just baseball or football fans. In the end, it's about what sports can do to bolster an entire people who are going through hard times. Guests include: Kent Tekulve, Joe Gordon, Lanny Frattare, Michael MacCambridge, John Steigerwald and Walter Iooss, Jr. This is the story of Pittsburgh, City of Champions, like you've never heard it before. https://traffic.libsyn.com/secure/shapingopinion/Full_Episode_-_City_of_Champions_auphonic.mp3 In this episode, we start with a group of Pittsburgh steelworkers who are standing around waiting for the arrival of two Pittsburgh sports icons. They stand in the cold and drafty Jones and Laughlin steel mill along the banks of the Monongahela River. The smoke stack above their building belches out thick black smoke. The stack next to it literally belches out fire. The air around the mill is thick with the smell of burning sulfur. If you're one of the kids at the playground on the bluff above that mill in South Oakland, you're at eye level with the top of those stacks and you can see that fire. You can see that smoke pouring out, and the air smells like rotten eggs. You can't avoid it. Down below, the guests of honor have arrived. They are both co-honorees - named Sports Illustrated's Sportsmen of the Year. Willie Stargell of the World Series Champion Pittsburgh Pirates and Terry Bradshaw, of the three-time Super Bowl champion Pittsburgh Steelers. About 15 steelworkers, clad in their green and gray mill uniforms, where hard hats and safety glasses, and they crowd around Stargell and Bradshaw, who are in their own work uniforms. Instantly, these tough and grizzled veterans of the mill become boyish football fans when the two baseball and football stars come in. Not much is getting done around the mill right now. With them is another legend. The photographer. But not just any photographer. He's a GOAT in his own right. Walter Iooss, Jr. is Sports Illustrated's best ever. Ever see that photo of Joe Namath predicting a Jets Super Bowl win at pool side? That was Walter. What about the shot of Joe Montana throwing to Dwight Clark in the 1981 NFC Championship game, the one they called, “The Catch?” That was Walter, too. From Tiger Woods to Michael Jordan, to the iconic Swimsuit editions. If you can conjure up an iconic sports or swimsuit image in your mind, there's a good chance Walter captured it for you. And here he is, lighting the floor of a steel mill to take a shot that would soon become iconic in its own right. Willie Stargell in his World Series champion uniform. Gold shirt with black pants. Next to him, Terry Bradshaw in his Super Bowl champion uniform, that classic black shirt with boxed numbers and gold pants. Surrounding them are those steelworkers. Walter told me there really wasn't much to setting up the shot, but what it stood for, well, that was something else. Welcome to 1979 and Pittsburgh, The City of Champions. In this episode we take you through, chronologically, the year Pittsburgh became the City of Champions, along with stories, insights, and what it all came to mean. He organizes these phrases into four critical areas: connection, clarity, curiosity, and commitment. You'll learn to express care and investment through phrases like, "I care about you, this team, this project." He also encourages you to seek understanding with questions such as, "What would a successful outcome do for you?" and "I'm curious how this looks from your perspective." To keep the dialogue productive, he suggests planning follow-ups with, "Let's schedule time to talk about this again and see how our solution is working." These phrases are tools for deescalating tension, fostering trust, and improving decision-making. The amazing rise of Kodak was due to innovation after innovation and you'll never guess why George Eastman called it Kodak. Dave Young: Welcome to the Empire Builders Podcast, teaching business owners the not-so-secret techniques that took famous businesses from mom-and-pop to major brands. Stephen Semple is a marketing consultant, story collector, and storyteller. I'm Stephen's sidekick and business partner Dave Young. Before we get into today's episode, a word from our sponsor, which is, well, it's us, but we're highlighting ads we've written and produced for our clients. So here's one of those. [Tommy Cool Air Ad] Dave Young: Hey, welcome back to the Empire Builders podcast. Dave Young here, and Stephen Semple's right there. Well, you probably can't see him, but I can see them. How you doing this morning? Because we record these in the morning. If you're listening in the evening, I felt the need to say that in case you were confused. Stephen Semple: Especially since before we started the recording, you were slurping your coffee. Dave Young: Right, in case you've never listened to a podcast before, and you didn't know they weren't live. So just before we started, yes, I was slurping my coffee, and yes, Stephen whispered into my ear today's topic. And I tell you, it is funny how words do this. This brand has sort of defined its own... It became the word for its product. It became the word for an industry almost. And when you told me the name, I had a Kodak moment. Stephen Semple: There you go. Yes. Dave Young: Right? But we're going to talk about Kodak, Eastman Kodak company, and when you said Kodak, I'm like, "Oh, man." I remember my first little Instamatic Kodak camera. And the pictures that, I think it was the 110 film that took a picture and- Stephen Semple: Oh yeah, the little film? Yeah. Dave Young: ... when you developed it, you got a four-by-four picture and a little smaller version of the same picture, wallet sized, right next to it. Stephen Semple: Yes. Dave Young: I thought that was the coolest thing. I would carry those little photos around. And I had a picture, I don't know if I still have it. It's probably tucked away somewhere. It's probably in a box somewhere. But there was a picture of me on my grandfather's horse. He had passed away already, and I was like maybe four or five, and I'm on this horse, and the horse's name was Euchre Bill. Stephen Semple: Euchre Bill. Dave Young: I can't explain that. Grandpa was gone. Stephen Semple: Card-playing horse, Euchre Bill. Dave Young: Maybe. I don't know. So that was the Kodak moment. Instantly, as soon as you said Kodak, it took me to that picture, which was still attached with its little picture next to it. Stephen Semple: I think we forget how big Kodak was. And lots of things led... Well, we even did an episode, back episode 77, where we actually looked at what we felt was the decline of Kodak that I did with Gary Bernier. At its peak, in 1996, Kodak was two-thirds of the global film market. In '76, it was 90% of all film sales in the United States, 85% of camera sales. In '96, it was the fifth most valuable business in the world, which is really quite remarkable. Dave Young: We tell our local clients that, man, if you can get to 35%, 40% market share in your category, you're a rock star. Here these guys were worldwide. Stephen Semple: Worldwide, 66%. Yeah. So today we're going to talk about what made Kodak amazing, and then the decline. We've sort of done this backwards. The decline we talked about back in 77. They were founded on May 23rd, 1892 in Rochester, New York by George Eastman. And George became the breadwinner of his family at age 14 when his father died, and he took a job as a messenger boy at an insurance company, and he was making three bucks a week. And then he became an office boy at another insurance company.

Pilate's soul hangs in the balance as he puts Jesus Christ on trial and declares the innocent one guilty. The question lingers... are you doing the same? - SERMON TRANSCRIPT - This morning I had the privilege to sit again in the “Discovering Christ” class, which is a class we have every week to study the person and work of Christ based on the Gospel of Mark. I was struck again as we began the cycle. We're looking at infinite majesty of the person of Christ. That's the purpose of the Gospel of Mark. It depicts Jesus in His remarkable person, His authority, declared to be the son of God at His baptism by a voice that came from heaven when heaven was torn apart and a dove came down and a voice said, "This is My Son whom I love; with Him, I'm well pleased." Then Jesus begins his ministry, teaching in a way that no one had ever heard before with authority, the ability to speak the truth of God in a powerful way, authoritative way- “You have heard that it was said, but I say to you.” Then as a demon possessed young man is there, to be able to instantly drive out the demon with a word. The demons were terrified of Jesus. He had no fear of them; He absolute authority over demons. Then there was every disease and sickness known to man. There was no disease or sickness He could not cure effortlessly, instantaneously, personally, effectively, every disease and sickness. We see His ability to control the wind and the waves when He was in the boat. A raging storm came down and the boat was filling with water. Jesus was asleep, then got up and stretched His hand over the wind and the waves and said, "Peace, be still." Instantly they obeyed His voice. “What kind of man is this? Even the wind in the waves obey him.” He revealed power over death as He raised Jairus's daughter from the dead. He said, "Talitha Cumi, little girl, I say to you, get up,” and her spirit returned to her and she got up. For Him, death and sleep were no different. It's just the same as waking a girl up from sleep. That's how powerful Jesus is over death, but even more, His authority over sin, His ability to declare to a sinner, your sins are forgiven and they are. This man that we've been learning about now in fourteen chapters now going into the fifteenth chapter of the Gospel of Mark is on trial before Pontius Pilate, on trial for His life, the only perfectly good man that's ever been. On trial for what? What did He do except love God with all of His heart, soul, mind and strength and love His neighbor perfectly as Himself and didn't break any of God's laws or man's laws ever. He's on trial before Pontius Pilate. Things are not, however, as they appear. If we had been transported back in time and we were there, we'd see this prisoner arrested on trial before the Roman procurator, on trial for his life. But the reality is much different. It was determined in the mind of God that Jesus should die for the sins of the world and that that would be the process whereby it would happen. It was a foregone conclusion. What's really going on in this account of Jesus before Pilot is that Pilot's on trial, actually. Pilot's on trial. In order to make that case and to make it then relevant to us, I'm going to... often I just stick with the words of Mark. But this morning I'm going to be reaching out to all four Gospels. I would say especially John 18:28-19:16 which probably puts the trial of Pilot himself more clearly than any of the other gospels. I'll be leaning on that, but also some things from Matthew. Whereas Pilot thought that he was evaluating and judging Jesus, the reality was that he was on trial and through him, all of us are, we all have a decision to make about Jesus because the Bible reveals that someday we're going to stand before his Judgment Seat. The only way we're going to survive that is if in this world, in this time now we have, come to personal faith in Jesus as Savior and Lord. Only that way will we survive judgment day, only that way. So here's Pilot judging, the only perfectly innocent man that has ever lived and by condemning Jesus to death, a man Pilot again and again asserts publicly that He is innocent. A man he may well have believed was supernatural and incarnation of sorts. We'll talk about that. He was actually destroying his conscience and condemning his own soul, he did it, we're told in the text, to please the crowd. Behind that we can say, he was trying to save his life and his job. But Jesus put it so plainly in Mark 8:36, "What would it profit a man if he should gain the whole world and lose his soul?" I don't know if Pilate ever did repent of his sins and trust in Jesus as his Lord and Savior, I have no idea. But if he didn't, he'll spend all eternity wishing for this moment back. The real question in front of all of us, what about us? What about you? Not just that personal moment of repentance and faith in Jesus, but understanding really what this passage teaches us. There's so many lessons here. We're going to see how God orchestrated in providence the condemnation of Jesus before the Roman procurator, before any of these things came to be, that God moved providential wheels to give the Jews, the chief priests, the Sanhedrin power over Pilate, so he would do what they wanted him to do, though he didn't want to do it. We're going to walk through that and learn providence. Now overall, the purpose of this account, like any account in Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John is summed up in John's purpose statement in John 20:31, "These are written that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God and believing may have life in His name." So that's the purpose today. 1. The Charge Against the Silent Jesus: “King of the Jews” Let's walk through the trial. Let's see what happens in Mark's account, but then looking at the others as well. In the charge against Jesus... Jesus is arraigned before Pilate, the religious phase of the trial is over. The Jewish leaders had come to their decision. Look at verse 1, “Very early in the morning the chief priests with the elders, the teacher of the law and the whole Sanhedrin, reached a decision. They bound Jesus, led Him away and delivered Him over to Pilate.” They have condemned Jesus to death, but they can't kill him, as much as they would like to. The Romans took away the power of that local body to execute people. The Romans retain that right, so they needed Pilate's involvement. They deeply wanted to put Jesus to death. They wanted him killed. Now we notice in John's account the hypocrisy of these Jewish religious leaders. In John 18:28, "Then the Jews led Jesus from Caiaphas to the palace of the Roman governor. By now it was early morning and to avoid ceremonial uncleanness, the Jews did not enter the palace because they wanted to be able to eat the Passover.” This is disgusting, religious hypocrisy. They maintained an outward appearance of spirituality and legality, but their whole purpose that morning was to murder an innocent man and not just any innocent man but to kill the glorious Son of God. But they're maintaining a certain pattern of religiosity so they can go through their rituals. Pilate asks Him this question, verse 2, "Are you the King of the Jews?" That's how it begins. This was the charge the Jews had figured would work with the Roman governor. They had tried to get him, as we know earlier in Mark's Gospel, on tax evasion, saying you don't need to pay taxes to Caesar, but Jesus openly asserted that they did. "Render to Caesar the things that are Caesar's and to God, the things that are God's." So that didn't work out, but this “King of the Jews” charge was weighty because it implied a threat to Roman interest in the area. In Luke's Gospel, Jesus’ enemies took another approach. In Luke 23:5, they insisted, "He stirs up the people all over Judea by his teaching. He started in Galilee and has come all the way here." That basically is a charge that He's a rabble rouser, He's an insurrectionist. Ironically, Barabbas, the very one they chose instead of Jesus, was openly an insurrectionist. So are you for or against insurrectionists? In Luke 23:19, "Barabbas had been thrown into prison for an insurrection in the city and for murder." Pilate zeroes in on this question, this charge, "Are you the King of the Jews?" Jesus gives a very interesting answer. In verse 2, "You have said it," or, "Yes, it is as you say," there are different translations. In Matthew 27:11, "You have said it." What does that mean? It’s somewhat mysterious. Perhaps Jesus meant the words like this, “Yes, it is as you say, but it's not what you mean or not how you mean. Or, you have said it but you really don't understand it.” In John 18, he goes into it in more detail. In John 18:36-38, "'My kingdom is not of this world. If it were, my servants would fight to prevent my arrest by the Jews, but now my kingdom is from another place.' 'You are a king then,' said Pilate. Jesus answered, 'You are right in saying that I am a king. In fact, for this reason I was born and for this I came into the world to testify to the truth. Everyone on the side of truth listens to me.' 'What is truth?' Pilate asked." That's a more in-depth conversation on Jesus's kingship. Jesus's kingdom is infinitely more powerful and more complex, more spiritual than Pilate could possibly imagine, but it's an entirely different thing than he was thinking when he asked, "Are you the King of the Jews?" So was He? Was Jesus King of the Jews? Answer: Absolutely, yes. As a matter of fact, that's the purpose of the beginning of the Gospel of Matthew, the record of the genealogy of Jesus Christ, the son of David, the son of Abraham. The first thing taught in the New Testament about Jesus is that He is the son of David, meaning King of the Jews. That's true, yes, He was King of the Jews, but not the way anyone thought, not the way His disciples thought, not the way anybody on earth thought. Yes, He's King of the Jews, but certainly not the way Pilate thought. Actually, Jesus is more than just King of the Jews. In Zechariah 9:10 it says, "He will proclaim peace to the nations. His rule will extend from sea to sea and from the river to the ends of the earth." So not just King of the Jews, but yes, King of the Jews. Was Jesus a threat? Was Jesus a threat to Pilate? Was Jesus a threat to Caesar? Was Jesus a threat to Rome? Answer: yes and no. Let's say no and yes. Jesus is no threat to lead an immediate political insurrection against Pontius Pilate and Judea or Caesar and the Roman Empire. But Jesus threatened Pilate and Caesar with eternal damnation. Jesus' kingdom is vastly more powerful than any earthly ruler could ever imagine. When Christ returns, He will set up a kingdom that will destroy all other kingdoms and will itself never be destroyed. This is the interpretation of Nebuchadnezzar's dream in Daniel 2, it says, "In the time of those kings, the God of heaven will set up a kingdom that will never be destroyed, nor will be left to another people. It will crush all those kingdoms and bring them to an end, but will itself endure forever.” This is the meaning of the vision of a rock cut out of a mountain, but not by human hands. The rock that broke the iron, the bronze, the clay, the silver, and the gold to pieces. Those represent empires. All empires come to an end at the Second Coming of Christ, and Jesus's kingdom established will reign forever and ever. The account is given in Revelation 19 of the Second Coming, "Out of his mouth comes a sharp sword with which to strike down the nations. He will rule him with an iron scepter. He treads the winepress of the fury of the wrath of God Almighty and on his robe and on his thigh, he has this name written: King of Kings and Lord of Lords." "Jesus is no threat to lead an immediate political insurrection against Pontius Pilate and Judea or Caesar and the Roman Empire. But Jesus threatened Pilate and Caesar with eternal damnation." Is Jesus a threat? Absolutely. Just not the way the Pilate was thinking. Jesus responds in silence, in direct fulfillment of prophecy. Look at verses 3-5, the chief priests accused Him of many things. Again, Pilate asked him, "Aren't you going to answer? See how many things they're accusing you of." But Jesus still made no reply, and Pilate was amazed. This is in direct fulfillment of course, of Isaiah 53:7, "He was oppressed and afflicted, yet he did not open his mouth. He was led like a lamb to the slaughter and as a sheep before its shearers is silent, so he did not open his mouth." Why not? Why was Jesus silent? There's a horizontal and a vertical aspect of Jesus' silence. Horizontally, He's silent because the trial is completely corrupt and unjust, and there's nothing He can say that will change it, and He's very aware of that. There's no point in Him saying anything. As He says in Luke 22:67-68, "'If you are the Christ,' they said, 'tell us.' Jesus answered, 'If I tell you, you will not believe me, and if I asked you a question, you would not answer.'" So He's openly saying, "What's the point?” Horizontally, there's no point in Him answering. Vertically, He must be silent because He's our sin bearer and there's nothing we can say in response to defend ourselves. We are guilty. We have broken God's laws and He has taken our sins on Himself and cannot reply to Almighty God, and so He must be silent, vertically. Pilate was amazed at the silence. He had never seen any prisoner behave like this man. As procurator with the power of life, death, he was used to seeing prisoners in many different states. Some might beg and plead for their lives, groveling on the ground. Some might be terrified, unable to speak because of terror, paralyzed. Some might be sullen or defiant or louder defiant. But Jesus had a supernatural calm to Him and a peace to Him. In the Gospel account, especially in John, there's a sense that He's in charge of the whole process. He has no fear at all. “You would have no power over me if it were not given to you from above.” Pilot's never seen a man like this before. Never. Proverbs 16:32, "Better a patient man than a warrior. A man who controls his temper than one who takes a city." Jesus was in absolute control of Himself, of His emotions, of His reactions at every moment. He was infinitely strong. 2. Pontius Pilate on Trial It really is Pontius Pilate on trial. Look at verses 6-15, “That was the custom at the feast to release a prisoner whom the people requested. A man called Barabbas was in prison with the insurrectionists who had committed murder in the uprising. The crowd came up and asked Pilot to do for them what he usually did. ‘Do you want me to release to you the King of the Jews,’ asked Pilot, knowing it was out of envy that the chief priests had handed Jesus over to him. But the chief priests stirred up the crowd to have Pilot release Barabbas instead. ‘What shall I do then with the one you call King of the Jews,’ Pilot asked them. ‘Crucify him,’ they answered. ‘Why? What crime has he committed,’ asked Pilate. But they shouted all the louder, ‘Crucify him!’ Wanting to satisfy the crowd, Pilot released Barabbas to them. He had Jesus flogged and handed him over to be crucified.” Pilot's on trial here, though he doesn't know it. As we look at John's account, we can see that Pilot again and again and again tries to release Jesus. It's his top priority it seems, below self-interest. He wants to release Jesus, he wants to set him free. Pilot knows that Jesus is innocent. In our text he says he knew it was out of envy that they had handed Jesus over to him. Pilot has undoubtedly heard about Jesus's miracles and the power that surrounded His ministry. Thirdly, Greeks and Romans frequently believed that the gods and goddesses took on human bodies and mucked around in human life and did human things and got into human affairs, and they believed this. There's biblical support of this conception. In the book of Acts, in Acts 14:11-12 when Paul and Barnabas were ministering in Lystra and did a healing miracle, it says, "When the crowd saw what Paul had done, they shouted in Lyconian language, 'The Gods have come down to us in human form.'" That's it right there. Barnabas, they called Zeus, and Paul, they called Hermes. They tried to offer sacrifices to them. This idea of gods taking on human bodies was well established in Greek and Roman culture. Fourthly, we have Pilate's wife who had a dream about Jesus and sends him a message during the trial about the dream, and we'll get back to that in a moment. John's Gospel, therefore, makes it plain that Pontius Pilate was afraid of Jesus. Most of the depictions of the trial do not show this aspect of Pilate, but he was afraid of Jesus. In John 19:7-9, “The Jews insisted, ‘We have a law, and according to that law, he must die because he claimed to be the Son of God.’ When Pilate heard this, he was even more afraid and he went back inside the palace. ‘Where do you come from,’ he asked Jesus, but Jesus gave him no answer.” What do you think was in his mind when he asked him that question? Are you a God? That's what he's asking. But however afraid he was of Jesus, he was even more afraid of what the Jews would do to him if he didn't do what they wanted. Now to get this background, we have to turn to a Jewish historian named Josephus, who tells us what the early stages of Pontius Pilate's rule was like in Judea. It was bad. Josephus was a Jewish historian who lived shortly after Jesus, and he gives us insights. Pilate ruled the Roman province of Judea from 26-36 AD. Once he was established in his position, he quickly offended the Jews multiple times by his high-handed and arrogant treatment of the Jewish people. Right away he marches into Jerusalem and sets up the Roman Eagles in the temple itself. The Roman Eagles were looked on by the Romans and therefore by the Jews as idols, representatives of Caesar's power. For him to put them physically in the temple was incredibly offensive to the Jews. They assembled and demanded that he remove the Eagles. Pilate refused and threatened the Jewish mob with slaughter if they didn't disperse. Undaunted, the Jews bared their necks and said, "Go ahead and kill us. We're not leaving." So Pilate backed down, losing face and authority with them. Soon after that, he offended the Jews again with his handling of a public aqueduct conflict. Again, the Jews assembled a protest. Pilot had the crowd infiltrated with plain clothes Romans, bearing swords. When the Jews refused to disperse again, Pilot gave the signal and the soldiers slaughtered many of the Jews. Jesus talks about this, how Pilot had mingled their blood with their sacrifices. He killed a lot of Jews that day. But the Emperor Tiberius was so angry at Pilot for his mismanagement because if he's stirring up trouble, Caesar will have to send more troops to the region. This is key. He was under orders to keep things quiet and orderly and get along with the Jews. These two things happened before Jesus's trial. Do you not see the hand of God in all this? He's giving to the Jewish Sanhedrin, the high priests, the chief priests, power over Pilot and they traded it in, in John's Gospel. No doubt about it. It says in John 19:12, "From then on Pilot tried to set Jesus free." You see that statement? He wants to set Jesus free, but the Jews kept shouting, "If you let this man go, you are no friend of Caesar's. Anyone who claims to be a king, opposes Caesar." They're clearly threatening to go to Tiberius, to go over his head. There's no doubt about it. Now, as I said, Pilot's conviction is that Jesus was completely innocent. He knew it was out of envy that the chief priest had handed Jesus over to him. Three times in John's Gospel, he declares publicly that Jesus was innocent of any charge at all. John 18:38, "I find no fault in him." John 19:4, "Look, I'm bringing you out to let you know I find no fault in him." And then verse 6, "You take him and crucify him. As for me, I find no basis for a charge against." That's three times a public assertion of Jesus's innocence. Set him free, you’re in charge. Set him free if he's innocent. This whole conviction is even more greatly strengthened by his wife's dream. Matthew 27:19, "While Pilot was sitting on the judge's seat, his wife sent him this message. 'Don't have anything to do with that innocent man.'" Innocent man. "For I have suffered a great deal today in a dream because of him." What effect do you think that message would've had on Pilot in the middle of this? In John's account, he goes out to the Jews and back to Jesus. He goes out. He's going back and forth. He doesn't know what to do. He's like a trapped animal. All of this was orchestrated by God. Why? Because He wanted to give His only-begotten son, in your place, as an atonement for your sins to bring you to heaven. That's why, and Jesus was equally determined to die for you and me. That's why all this was happening. Now he tries the clever attempt. One of the things he tries is, "Oh wait, yeah, it's the feast. I can release a prisoner. I got an idea. Let's do that.” It was the custom at the feast to release a prisoner whom the people had requested. A man called Barabbas was in prison with the insurrectionists, who had committed murder in the uprising. The crowd came up and asked Pilate to do for them what he usually did. Pilate brings it up in John's Gospel. They both remember this custom. "Do you want me to release to you the King of the Jews," asked Pilate, knowing it was out of envy the chief priests had handed Jesus over to him. However, this clever attempt to get out of this whole thing was thwarted by the Jewish leaders. In verse 11, the chief priest stirred up the crowd to have Pilate release Barabbas instead. I don't know how they did that, but they were running the show here. They had infiltrated the crowd. They had whispered, they'd called in IOUs, maybe bribed some people, got some people to shout things out for Barabbas and then shout, "Crucify!" for Jesus. They manipulate the crowd into a maniacal frenzy. "What shall I do then with the one you call King of the Jews," Pilate asked them. "Crucify him!" they shouted. "Why? What crime has he committed? He's innocent." But they shouted all the louder, "Crucify him!” In Matthew's account, "Pilate saw he was getting nowhere, but instead an uproar was starting." It's a frenzy. Satan must've been stirring this whole thing on as well. It was Satan that was in Judas Iscariot to orchestrate this whole thing. Satan's fanning this whole thing into a flame because he was a murderer and he hates the Son of God and wants him killed. The sinlessness of Jesus is clearly established. The roots of the chief priests and elders, their wicked hatred for Jesus was envy, greed, and power. The crowd vacillating just a week before shouting, "Hosanna, Hosanna!" Now they're yelling, "Crucify, crucify!" This is the culmination of Jesus's rejection by His own people. He's been officially rejected by the chief priests and the Sanhedrin. He's officially condemned to death, but now the people are shouting for His death. "He came to his own and his own did not receive him." [John 1:11]. In Matthew 27, this stunning statement is made, "When Pilot saw that he was getting nowhere, but that instead an uproar was starting, he took water and washed his hands in front of the crowd. 'I'm innocent of this man's blood,' he said. 'It's your responsibility.' And all the people answered, 'Let his blood be on us and on our children.’" 3. Jesus’ Blood on the Jewish Nation (Matthew’s Gospel) Wow, what a statement. What does that mean? “Let his blood be on us,” mean we'll take responsibility. It's a common Jewish expression. Like in Leviticus 20:9, "If anyone curses his father or mother, he must be put to death. He has cursed his father and mother and his blood will be on his own head." In other words, he's responsible for what's coming to him. That's their way of saying, "We will take responsibility, let his blood be on us and on our children." This is the very thing that Jesus said would happen in Matthew 23, after the seven-fold woes. "Woe to you, Scribes and Pharisees." After all that He says, "'Therefore, I'm sending you prophets and wise men and teachers. Some of them you'll kill and crucify. Others, you will flog in your synagogues and pursue from town to town and so upon you will come all the righteous blood that has been shed on earth, from the blood of righteous Abel to the blood of Zechariah, son of Berekiah, whom you murdered between the temple and the altar. I tell you the truth, all this will come down on this generation.’" They are going to be responsible for it all. They're willing to take responsibility for the death of Jesus. Later they try to shirk this responsibility. In Acts 5, they said to the apostles, "You filled Jerusalem with your teaching and to determine to make us guilty of this man's blood." Well, you are, you are. So that's the first sense, that's the darkest sense. But there's another sense of “Let his blood be on us and on our children,” a much better sense. Because it is only by the blood of Jesus shed on the cross that our sins are forgiven, that our sins are forgiven. At present through unbelief, the blood of Jesus is upon them and their children for condemnation and for guilt, but if any individual Jewish person repents of his or her sins and trusts in Christ, His blood will be on them to cleanse them from all their sins, just as it's on us for salvation and cleansing. For God delivered Jesus over as a propitiation, a sacrifice of atonement through faith in His blood. It is by the blood of Jesus, by the shedding of blood. Without the shedding of blood, there is no forgiveness of sins. I believe that at the end of history, there'll be a massive turning of ethnic Jews physically descended from Abraham, Isaac and Jacob to faith in Jesus, and His blood will be on Abraham's children for salvation. As it says in Romans 11, "And so all Israel be saved, as it is written. The deliverer will come from Zion; he'll turn godlessness away from Jacob. And this is my covenant with them when I take away their sins.” "For God delivered Jesus over as a propitiation, a sacrifice of atonement through faith in His blood. It is by the blood of Jesus, by the shedding of blood. Without the shedding of blood, there is no forgiveness of sins." IV. The Final Verdict The final verdict is given by Pilot. In verse 15, "Wanting to satisfy the crowd, Pilot released Barabbas to them. He had Jesus flogged and handed them over to be crucified." Pilot could not evade responsibility. He washes his hands, but he's responsible for what he did. He rendered a verdict, guilty, death on a cross, but it violated his conscience. He knew he wasn't guilty. Was it really Pilot who handed Jesus over to be crucified? It was at the human level, but as I've already said, Romans 8:32, "He who did not spare His own son but delivered Him up for us all. How will He not also along with Him, graciously give us all things?" Interesting, at the moment that He was delivered over to be crucified, Barabbas was set free. That's marvelous, isn't it? It's an interesting picture. The guilty set free, the innocent dies. This is a picture of substitutionary atonement. As 1 Peter 3:18 says, "For Christ died for sins once for all the righteous, for the unrighteous to bring you to God." Barabbas represents a disgusting, vile murderous sinner who's set free from condemnation death by Jesus. I'm not saying Barabbas is in heaven. I hope so. Wouldn't it be great to meet him and say, "Generations have been talking about you, now here you are." But we don't know. We have no knowledge, but I'm just saying he's a picture of a guilty person set free and not having to pay the penalty that we deserve. Concerning the flogging, it was a hideous punishment. Picture a rod of wood and long leather straps with bits of bone and metal at the end, like a whip, only enhanced. The straps would wrap around the victim's body and then rip flesh off that victim's back. It was a hideous torture. If done enough, it would be lethal. It was done to weaken the victim before the crucifixion, so he ordered that it be done. Why? He was innocent. In John's Gospel, it was used as one of the steps that he tried to appease the people, but it didn't work. Here it is written at the end. It's beautiful because in Isaiah 53:5 it says, "He was pierced for our transgressions. He was crushed for our inequities. The punishment that brought us peace was upon him. And by his wounds, sometimes translated stripes, we are healed.” As 1 Peter 2:24 says, "He himself bore our sins in His body on the tree that we might die to sin and live for righteousness; by His wounds you have been healed.” V. Applications First of all, the judgment theme. You've heard the evidence, you have the information. You're sitting, in some sense, in judgment on Jesus. You're deciding about Jesus. God gives you that time to do that. Make a right judgment. Evaluate Him properly. Look at the evidence. I began the sermon with the marvels of the person of Jesus as depicted in the Gospel of Mark. Make a right judgment about Jesus and trust in Him for the forgiveness of your sins and the salvation of your soul. Don't do what Pilate did. Make a right judgment about Jesus. Secondly, understand what's going on here. I've said it two or three times, I'll say it one final time. This account is evidence of God's sovereign control over human history, His orchestration of events, His maneuvering of people and positioning of people because He's sovereign over everything that happens on earth. What He was doing was giving the Jews power over Pontius Pilate so that he would condemn an innocent man to death. What God's intention was to give Jesus as a Savior for your sin. Again here, Romans 8:32, "He who did not spare His own Son but delivered Him up for us all, how will He not also along with Him graciously give us all things?" What is the “all things”? I've been thinking about different pastoral circumstances that I'm walking through right now with different people in the church. It could be medical, it could be relational, it could be a sin problem, it could be financial. There's all kinds of things going on all the time in the life of the church. I don't know what's happening in all your lives. The things that you're yearning for are significant, they’re important. Romans 8:32 doesn't minimize. It's just saying, "With God already having given his only-begotten Son, everything else in the universe is lesser than that to Him. He would not withhold from you anything that would further His purpose in your life, which is to save your soul, use you in this world, and then take you to heaven.” Understand that's what's going on in this trial here. Thirdly, rejoice in God's sovereignty over wicked, unjust human governments. As we go through a political process in this nation, and we wonder who's going to get elected president or lesser roles, and not just our country, but around the world, we can see evidence of this kind of selfishness and weakness and caving into the crowd and injustice. Isn't it wonderful to know that God is sovereign over that whole thing and rules actively over it for His own purposes, for His own glory, and for the good of His people? Fourth, look at the fickleness of the crowd here. "Hosanna," one week, a week later, “Crucify," and distrust your own loyalty to Jesus. Say, "Prone to wander. Lord, I feel it. Prone to leave the God I love. Here's my heart, Lord. Take and seal it. Seal it for thy courts above. Help me not to be fickle and weak and vacillating in my love for Jesus." Finally, it's time now to get our hearts ready for the Lord's Supper. I'm going to close the sermon time and prayer ,and we're going to transition to the Lord's Supper. Father, we thank you for the word of God. We thank you for its power. We thank you for this account of the trial of Jesus before Pontius Pilate. Now as we give our attention to the Lord's Supper, we pray that you would be with us in this time. In Jesus' name, Amen.

Hello everybody and welcome to another episode of the Serious Sellers podcast by Helium 10. I'm your host, Bradley Sutton, and this is the show. That is a special episode because for the very first time, we have got somebody who is from Amazon Canada, also Amazon Mexico on the show. I've had people from Amazon USA, I think, Amazon Singapore and different places, but I'm just expanding out the marketplaces here. We've got Jaisal and Irais here. Welcome to the show, guys. Irais: Hello everyone. Thank you for inviting us. Bradley Sutton: Now, right before the show, I was like now the way you pronounce your name is Irais and that's how I would say it, but like that just sounds like so awkward. So I'm just going to go with Irais and she says she's not going to be offended there and Jaisal I couldn't even begin to exactly pronounce it, but so I'm going to start with Jaisal. What is the origin of your name? Jaisal: So my name is actually originated from a town in India called Rajasthan, and there was a princess back in the day whose name was Jaisal, and there's also a city called Jaisalmer, so that's kind of where my name came from. Bradley Sutton: See, I like knew there was a good story behind it. You know, Bradley, there's no, there's nothing going on there. You know, like Irais is or at least the English spelling is like a flower, you know kind of thing. So, all right, we've got. So I was already pronouncing it wrong, so it was Jaisal instead of Jaisal. I don't know why I was saying it the right. Okay, I got it now. Now, Jaisal, you we're in Canada, are you at right now? Jaisal: So I actually live in Dallas, Texas. Bradley Sutton: Dallas Texas, okay. Jaisal: Yeah, our team sits in Seattle and in Arlington, and then we also have a team out in Canada. Bradley Sutton: Okay, all right now. How long have you worked for Amazon? Jaisal: For a little over two years, so it's been a really fun ride so far. Bradley Sutton: Now, have you always worked on the? You like Amazon Canada in different marketplaces, or did you do something else like for Amazon USA, or what's going on there? Jaisal: Yeah, so the whole time I've been on Amazon Canada, I've been on the Remote Fulfillment expansion team for the entire time, so it's been I've definitely gotten really used to this team and I've learned a lot from the team as well. Bradley Sutton: Now we're gonna be talking, we're gonna go in depth here, but just something I've wanted to know. I always you just said Remote Fulfillment. Now I have always referred to this as NARF right North, because I swear it used to be called like North American Remote Fulfillment. But now I don't see that those initials anywhere on Amazon did it? Was that an official term or is that something I made up, or did you guys have that and then you just erased the NARF and now it's called something else. Irais: Yes, you're right, it was called North America Remote Fulfillment, but the thing is that the moment we are now expanding to other countries, it doesn't make sense to call it North America. That's why we only, we're only staying with Remote Fulfillment with it. Bradley Sutton: That's all. We're almost giving a spoiler alert right there about later on in the show. We're gonna be okay now. Okay now, I guess. So like I gotta start calling it something, but that's. That was such a cool name though, NARF, you know, it's so easy to remember that. All right, let's. Let's switch to Irais. Now, where are you located? Irais: So I am in Mexico City and I worked at the office that we have in Mexico City. Bradley Sutton: Is that where you're born and raised? Irais: Yes, yes, I haven't been living all my life here. I went to give my tour of the world for 10 years and came back to Mexico City, and I've been working at Amazon since four years now four years, and I hope. Bradley Sutton: Let's just start in an degree. You know the reason why I brought you on kind of like representing Amazon Canada. By the way, that's a really cool sweater you have on there. I haven't seen that one special edition, but is you know? I want to talk about Remote Fulfillment now in general. You know, I'm an Amazon seller in the USA now me personally, I don't remember when I enrolled, but I'm already enrolled in it. But there's probably a lot of people listening to this show maybe who haven't. This might be the first time they're even hearing about Remote Fulfillment. So you know what? Let me take a step back. What is Remote Fulfillment? Either of you can answer this. Irais: So Remote Fulfillment, it's a program that allows sellers to use their US FBA inventory to expand to other countries like Mexico, Canada and now Brazil. What we do is like the inventory that you are sending to the Remote Fulfillment Center, to the sorry, to the fulfillment centers in in US. Amazon uses to fulfill the orders internationally once there is a sale in another country. Bradley Sutton: Cool now. So that's just basically in a nutshell what it is. Now I'm a seller who's maybe hearing about this for the first time. How do I know if it's something that I should probably look into? Or maybe there's a kind of seller where it's like nah, this is probably not for you yet. Irais: Well, really, for I think, for any seller that is already selling in in US BISBA I think it's something really great to try, because you're already selling with FBA in US, you already have your products there. The only thing you need to do is enroll. Actually, we are I'll explain further down but we are doing automatically enrollment for some eligible sellers and once you're enrolled, you're basically instantly selling in other like internationally, because it's Amazon who takes care of the rest. We are basically, once we enroll you, we are going to duplicate your ASINs or your offers that's how we call it in Amazon ASINs and you're we're going to duplicate your offers and products to the other countries and then you will be offering those products to new clients and you will have more opportunities to sell right. So I think it's very easy. You don't really need to worry about sending inventory to other places, you don't need to invest on that and everything is taken care of by Amazon. So I think it's very easy. You don't really need to say, oh, am I ready? Bradley Sutton: I'm not ready, because Amazon takes care of everything now, Jaisal, you know, for me when I first enrolled in it, when it was called NARF like the very first one that I made sure to get into was Canada, would it be safe to say that probably most people are, you know, who are selling in the US probably make that one their first enrollment. And then how does somebody enroll in it these days? Jaisal: yeah, of course. So from the way to enroll standpoint, we do have that auto enrollment that I used to talking about earlier. But also if you want to double check to see if you are enrolled, you would go into your US Seller Central side and check the inventory tab and go to Remote Fulfillment and there will be. We have like a new UI as well and there you should be able to see like which countries you have launched in, and it's literally just like a click of a button all right. Bradley Sutton: So I'm here for those watching on YouTube. I'm going in one of my accounts right, I'm pretty sure it's enrolled inventory and then Remote Fulfillment with FBA, all right. And then here it is right here. So I would hit then marketplace enrollment, right, and then there it is All right. So then you would be able to see the three marketplaces and it says I'm enrolled. And if it wasn't enrolled I would have just selected it here and then hit update. So everybody who's listening if you guys are, you know, if you guys are running on a jog right now or you're in your car, you know, please Pull over to the side of the road or just wait till you get home, but go into your Seller Central, hit the Menu button on the left hand side, go to inventory, mouse over that and then select Remote Fulfillment by FBA and literally right after there It'll be just maybe a couple of clicks to enroll. If you are not now, let's say somebody wasn't like me and it said not enrolled, enrolled, just like. If I. From the moment right now they click on this, is it instantaneous that they're now in the program? Does it take 24 hours about? How long would it take them to get up and running? Irais: If you do it manually, you will go through a small flow like after this page. You have another flow when it will just let you know that we are duplicating your ASINs with building international listings tool and once you are enrolled it can be Instantly. It may take up to for you 24 hours, but most of the times it's on the same day. Bradley Sutton: Excellent, excellent. Now, for me, there were some of my products that, even though, as everybody just saw who saw my screen I am fully enrolled, but some of my products that weren't activated. So you know, that leads me to assume that, hey, some products maybe are not eligible. Um, I know, way back in the day, like six years ago, when I was working for seven years and when I was working for a different company, like they were doing Uh, a diet pills and like nothing was available for Canada because there was like regulations about that. But just, I don't sell any diet pills and this is where I sell coffin shelves and egg trays and stuff like that. But what are the kind of products that might not be just Able to qualify for this program with this click of the button? Jaisal: Yeah, so for each country they all have different importation roles. Um, products that are not eligible due to exportation rules Will not be copied to other stores by the build international listings tool, also known as the bill tool, and you'll generally see like an ineligibility message through that same UI that you were showing earlier. However, there are some cases where a product is eligible for cross-border fulfillment under a different fulfillment method, such as local FBA fulfillment or seller fulfilled, but it's not eligible for the Remote Fulfillment with FBA, and that could generally be because there are additional documentation requirements for customs or specific shipping or packaging requirements. Um, a good example is Remote Fulfillment does not export consumer goods, as those products often do need labeling in local languages. And if your product is not eligible for Remote Fulfillment and is not restricted for sale in the target store, you can still send it directly to the country for sale through FBA in each country, or you could list it as a seller fulfilled offer. Um, a good rule of thumb is like if you want to see a full list of restricted products per country, you can visit our Remote Fulfillment page and review what you can sell in the manager listing section now I think, oh, one of the most common or I have. Bradley Sutton: I have a list of common questions that, I gathered from people in our community, when you know, asking about this program, but I think that probably the number one thing that people want to understand is the, the shipping. So, first of all, if I turn this on and it's tied to my FBA US inventory which, by the way, I'm not, um, not sure if I want to make sure everybody understands that it's what we're talking about here, I am not sending inventory, physical inventory, to Canada warehouses or to Mexico warehouses or to Brazil warehouses, it's taking from my us inventory. So Somebody sees, though, a prime batch. If they're shopping on Amazon Mexico, like they, they search for a coffin shelf, how would you say something? The atahood right here and it says Amazon Prime right there. Irais: Yes, yeah, I think that's one of the main benefits of the program is that your ASINs have a prime batch when they are Distributed by Remote Fulfillment. So, although they might take longer, a little bit longer than the ones that are currently already in Mexico, but they are considered prime. Bradley Sutton: That was my next question there. So they see the Prime Badge. Now what is the average shipping time that they might see, assuming obviously even in America you could have a Prime Badge and it might say 10 days because the inventory is being checked in. But let's just assume that the inventory is completely checked in. You know I have got tons of inventory. What's the average shipping time somebody in Mexico or Canada might see on my listing? Irais: Yeah, uh. So On average to Mexico and Canada it takes Less than seven days. That's the time that the around you will see is that the target? Bradley Sutton: I know it's completely brand new this month of, but is that the target also for Brazil or might take a little bit longer for there? Irais: Yeah, so for Brazil, given the distance and obviously the size of the country, we are targeting now around 30 days, and which is also an average for products that are coming from other countries, locally Brazil. Bradley Sutton: Excellent, excellent. Now, obviously for Spain or for Mexico, it's automatically translating my listing into Spanish. For Canada, is it changing it at all to like Canadian English? Not that it's that different, but you know, like, like, for example, British English. You know a diaper is called a nappy or something like that. It's still English, but it's, it's different. Like is there any translation happening? Or like. Does it translate to French? For, like the people in in Quebec who view Amazon and French? Jaisal: Yes, it'll translate to French whenever you're looking in that for the French. Bradley Sutton: But not changing it to like a Canadian vernacular or anything like that, right, yeah, okay now. So that's my second part of my question. Is all right, so Amazon is automatically translating my listing to either French or Spanish or Portuguese, I'm assuming for Brazil. Now what if I, being a Helium 10 user, and I like might know the keyword that people are searching in Spanish and Portuguese and the keyword that Amazon translated might not be what I like? Am I able to go in and override that translation? Jaisal: Yeah, so it depends on the listing. If it already exists in the target country, just as it works in the US, you can propose changes and seller support will make the adjustment when they believe it's pertinent for the listing. However, if the listing is new in the target store and you're the first one to list it and you own the information, you'll be able to make changes as needed after localizing with the build international listings tool. Bradley Sutton: So then it wouldn't be editing the listing per se and, like manage inventory, I would need to go to the build international listings to change the. You know, like I want to change a couple words in the title, that that would be the tool I go into. Yeah okay, perfect, perfect. What about A+ Content? How does that translation work? I'm not. I don't think I've ever looked at my A+ Content. In my North American remote fulfill, or see, I keeps using the old term Remote Fulfillment by FBA Listings. I don't think I've ever even looked at how what's going on with my A+ Content. Jaisal: Yeah, so honestly, similar to how you do it in the US side for Canada or for the store that you're selling in, you can go exactly to where your A+ Content listings would be and upload it there. It doesn't automatically translate over, you may have to tweak some things, but it'll be in the Seller Central for that respective country speaking about localization, one thing, another thing I have not done is my change my images. Bradley Sutton: So, for example, I have some infographic images right where I might have some text on there. Obviously, Amazon is not changing. You know, editing my images for me, changing that to English, it is it possible? If I'm using the same as in and smart, it's my product, you know. I've got Brand Registry, you know and everything. Can I change the like a certain image in the Mexican marketplace to put Spanish? You know, if I have like the features you know listed in one of my images and I want to change the Spanish, am I able to change that image or it's now going to overwrite that to my US listing? Jaisal: It won't overwrite. So whatever you do on like, for example, if you do it on your Canada Seller Central, your Mexico Seller Central, it's not going to override or impact anything that you do on the US Seller Central side. It'll just stay for that target country. Bradley Sutton: Give me good stuff here, like I was worried about. I was worried I think a lot of sellers might have been worried about that one. You're telling us what we want to hear. Now one thing I noticed to you know, like I don't ship inventory directly to Canada, but something that's cool is I can. I can still see them. We have some high and cool metrics here. Let me just show my screen to the listeners who can see this. But, like search, career performance and things like that, I can actually go to Canada and Go to Mexico and see that, even though, like again, I never registered to just for FBA in Canada or Mexico, but since I am part of this Remote Fulfillment, I can actually see the really cool metrics that Amazon has been giving for these different Marketplaces. And then, obviously, you know, if anybody's using Helium 10, you guys all have access to the same functionality for Amazon, for Amazon USA, Amazon Canada, Amazon Mexico, Amazon Brazil, our tools like Cerebro work and magnet where you can do your keyword research and things like that. So in the past, a lot of stuff that Amazon USA sellers had, you know, like they didn't have it right away for Mexico and Canada and the other marketplaces about at least all of the main things, definitely has access here now, where you know I talked about this a little bit before. But for again, for the, for those just joining us, where, at what point Should I be like, hey, this is something that I need to go all in on, and then maybe I've been doing it for a while and then I'm like you know what I don't want to have 30 days for shipping to Brazil. I don't want to have those eight days to Mexico or something. Maybe I should consider actually doing the whole process of taking my inventory, some for a certain product and shipping it to FBA in those countries. Irais: I think that's a great point. It's really good considering at some point, migrating to local FBA Just because FBA has better seller experience, like you say, is like it has shorter shipping times, for example, and which can benefit the sellers. Conversion now. And but to the question one. I think it depends on multiple things. I think the minimum seller should consider is first, having a stable demand of the products they want to sell. You know to make sure the products you're going to send they are actually going to have a Sales. The second one is that sellers need to have figure out the export logistics. You need to have a Look for the information like what products can you send? You know that sometimes our Exportations about the materials that you can export and like maybe having the support of a broker sometimes. And finally, also making sure that you comply with the local laws of the country you're targeting right. Some countries and ask you to have, for example, a local tax ID, which is a process you need to do in in that country. Or some other countries, for example, they ask a specificity, a specificity story about labeling Products, know, and so all of those things we need to think about before, just like sending the inventory to the countries. Irais: But, like I said, it's a good Option to think about it because it will. It will help yourselves and also one another point that I want to mention is that you don't need to decide of Removal filming or FBA. You can always choose both. Actually, it's something that we recommend because, for example, you can use FBA for the ASINs that they have a high turnover rate or they have a stable demand, but if you want to try new ASINs, you can enroll them first in removal filming and so that you can try you know the demand, see how it hits, how they work, and you can use be using both Programs at the same time. Also, FBA is a good option and for the products, like Jason said, for the products that are not Eligible in removal filming, you know, like, for example, if you also sell consumables, you can try to sell consumables via FBA and the rest of your products in removal filming. Bradley Sutton: Interesting now. Now, Jaisal, you know, one question I had was you know she just mentioned about like tax implications and things like that, for when you're actually sending inventory there. I think that's a very top of mind Topic for sellers is like, wait a minute, like anything has to do with another country, like, alright, my product is crossing the border, am I gonna get tax? Like do I? I'm doing Remote Fulfillment? Am I gonna get a separate tax bill? Or do I have to clear customs for each order? Like all these, all these questions they might have, like which might be holding them back? Um, but correct me if I'm wrong, but in removal filming, is it true that I really don't have to worry about those things? Jaisal: This is probably, like our, one of our top five questions that we always get. So when customers buy products through Remote Fulfillment with FBA, the buyer is actually the importer of record and must pay any import duties, taxes and fees. Amazon kind of simplifies the import duties process by estimating the amount that will be due and adding it to the amount the customer pays at checkout. You also do not have to present income taxes in other countries, since your sale is occurring in the United States, so sellers may continue with their tax-specific obligations in the US in the same way as before joining Remote Fulfillment. Bradley Sutton: If I'm looking in Helium temp profits or in Seller Central, when I'm downloading my financial reports and everything, the order might show that it went to Canada or something. But is everything pretty much the same as far as the numbers go? My shipping, my fulfillment cost is the same and there's no extra fees. That's affecting my profitability. Is it almost 100% the same? Irais: We can talk about also the fees. I can already explain how it works. So in Remote Fulfillment the products have two fees, just the same as any product in USFBA. So the first fee is Remote Fulfillment fee, which replaces the USFBA fee it's the same one. And we have the second fee, which is the category referral fee, which depends on the kind of product that you're selling and that will be. It varies depending on the country where the sale is occurring. So, besides these two fees although they can be higher because, for example, in Remote Fulfillment, fees varies depending on the size of the product, the weight and also the country to which you are sending the product Although these fees may be higher we have the tool bill that we have mentioned. But the tool does is it adjusts the prices in the targeted countries with those fees, including those fees in the price and any other extra costs that you might have, so that the price already includes all these additional costs and sellers will get a similar profit as they get in US. So to the question what we are doing with PIL is protecting the margin of the sellers so that they have a similar profit as they get in US, and that's how we can comfortable say that you will be having almost the same profits as you have in US. Bradley Sutton: Okay. So let's say for whatever reason, the currency exchange rate is fluctuating greatly, day by day or week by week. Is once a week or once a day? Is the price maybe showing up as something like is BIL changing my price to reflect the currency fluctuations? Irais: Yeah, so maybe it's easier if I give an example. But for example, so what BIL is going to do is have your US price as a base. It will stay connected to the other listings or to your products in Canada, Mexico and Brazil and the moment that you do, for example, a manual adjust price in the US, it will adjust all other countries, considering the fees difference in each of those countries and it will also consider, like you say, exchange rates for each of the countries. One point that I want to make sure is clear and that sellers know is that if sellers do a change manually to the price in the target country for example, they go and they make a change manually in the price in Mexico that will break the connection with the US price. So BIL will not be connected anymore, and that's something that selling partners need to be careful with. Sellers can totally go and manually change prices in the targeted countries, but that will be breaking the connection. So there is a way to connect the sellers, the listings, again through the BIL international listing tool, which is in global selling. You can reconnect all your listings, but it's just to have this in mind. You know, like not making manual adjustments if you want to maintain the connection with your US prices. Bradley Sutton: That's super interesting. So if I never have touched it, it's going to go ahead and edit that for me, but if I mess with the price once, just like in Seller Central or something, then that breaks the connection. I literally have not seen this page in probably years, but I'm looking right now on my BIL international listings page and, for example I guess at one point I selected these things as default, but it's interesting. Like it says here for Canada, it tells me what the exchange rate is right now. And then it says, for price synchronization, I can choose the list price and the sale price, or list price only. So that's good to know. If I'm doing a sale in the US, that means, if I have this selected, it'll go ahead and reflect as well in Canada. And then it says here I can for Remote Fulfillment with FBA. The choices I have are same as the source marketplace adjust for fees, which is what I have. The other options, though, are same as just same as the source marketplace percentage above the source marketplace, or percentage below the source marketplace, or fixed amount above. So very interesting. And then I also have self-fulfilled options here. Like me, I have a lot of skews that I actually self-fulfilled myself, and I don't know why I put $25. I guess I didn't want anybody ordering from Canada or something. I put a markup of $25 here. But, interesting, I had not been on this page at all. I had no idea about these things. So, as a matter of fact, you just told me I'm working on something with our product team where we can do prices, and I didn't realize. So if I'm manually editing a price, it is no longer gonna go by these rules. Irais: then yeah, just to be clear, it's manually adjusting the price in the target country. So if you change to the store of Mexico and then you change the price in pesos, no, if you change it in US, obviously it will stay connected, and exactly that's how the tool helps to change accordingly the prices in the other countries. Bradley Sutton: Okay, all right, interesting, interesting. Now here we're talking about all these foreign currencies and things like that. Jesso, If I'm trying to open this up, do I need a Canadian bank to get my disbursements from? If I'm just an American seller, do I need a Mexican bank to be able to receive the payments, or how does that work? Jaisal: Yeah, so now actually, Amazon will manage this for you through a tool called Amazon Currency Converter for Sellers, or otherwise known as ACCS, that you can set up in Seller Central as a deposit method. That way, your funds from other countries are transferred to your assigned bank account to receive deposits in the US. Bradley Sutton: So literally at that moment that we talked about earlier in the show, when I'm enrolling, that's it, like there's not a bunch of other steps I'm going to have to jump through. All right, we talked about the cost. We talked about taxes and fees and banks and disbursements. I'm sure I'm forgetting some other things, but just in my just thinking about this program, a couple other questions a seller might have is maybe on the customer side. You said that they're the importer of records. So just out of curiosity, you're no tax code expert or anything, but on average, is it a lot of fees that they're having to pay? Like if they're buying my coffin shelf back there for 25 bucks that's the base price with shipping. The typical Canadian customer, though, what's their bill going to be like? Is it going to be double that? Is it just a certain percentage of that? Jaisal: Yeah, I mean, I think it's an important aspect. But what we really want to highlight is that with the Remote Fulfillment program, buyer will be charged for the taxes. Bradley Sutton: The price that the customer sees, though, is it just the listed price, you know, after the currency conversion, or is Amazon automatically building those you know taxes and things like that, into that retail price? Jaisal: Yeah, so whenever the seller is going on to Amazon.ca and they want to buy your product, they will see actually what the price point is plus the tax and the shipping fee. Ah, so that's good. Bradley Sutton: So it's not like you know like, see, that that's, that's a worry, like when I used to export to Canada and other countries, you know, off of Amazon. You know, maybe 15 years ago or 20 years ago, I would get some customers that would sometimes reject the shipments because they're like, I got this crazy tax bill that I had no idea you know this is how much, but kind of like, there's no surprises because Amazon is telling them how much, how much it's going to cost. Oh, that's a comfort to hear. Irais: I was just going to compliment that. For example, for Mexico, the price of the AC versus US is very similar. It will only get adjusted by the, by the shipping fee which is going to be added to the price if there is no taxes, Amazon is not going to add any, any extra fees and, like you say, it's really convenient, for example, for me when I'm like I want to buy a brand that is not available in my country and that I want to bring it, and it's really nice to have you know like a exact date when I'm going to get it and that I don't have surprises of when the package arrives. Like you say like, oh, I am due another 50 bucks for what I am ordering. Bradley Sutton: Okay, good to know. Good to know. What about returns? So you know, Amazon obviously has a generous return policy. Is it kind of like the same for people who buy through mobile film? I don't even know what it is like. You know 30, let's just say 30 days. They have 30 days, is it the same? And then what's the process? You know, like for like, I had to return something from Amazon the other day and it's just like all right here, go drop it off at UPS or we'll send you a label to return. How does it work if it's a Remote Fulfillment product? Irais: Yeah, it's exactly the same from a buyer's perspective. You also have the Amazon promise that you can return items within a certain time First, I think Mexico is 30 days and you'll get a label, a shipping label, that you can paste on your package and you'll deliver it to the same place, where, or even you can also call for someone to pick it up at home, and it works exactly the same way. Amazon will take care of bringing back the product to the US. So that's I think it's important for sellers to know. We don't bring the product to the FCS and locally, we take it back to your inventory in US. So once it gets to the US, it will be re added to your inventory. Bradley Sutton: Now, what are some educational resources that people can search for, maybe in Seller Central If they want to find out more about this? How would you suggest people can learn more? Irais: inside Seller Central. I think there is two main resources sellers can use. One is the help page of Remote Fulfillment with FBA that you can search by using the search bar. You can place Remote Fulfillment. You will find the help page. We also have a revenue calculator that sellers can use. Also, by typing revenue calculator, you will find it in the search menu. The only thing you need to make sure is that once you are in the revenue calculator, you need to choose the store where you are targeting and the store where your inventory is in, and you will see the option of calculating fees with Remote Fulfillment so that you are able to compare what is the best channel for you or what will be your net profits using one channel or the other one. And finally, you always have seller support, which is a really good resource for a lot of sellers. Jaisal: Just like sending your question or requesting a call, and they will be able to help you, yeah, and also just to add on to that as a seller, if you do have any country specific questions, one piece of advice that I like to give is search for those questions in your Seller Central that is accounted for that country. So if you have a question, for example, on Canada right and you're looking on how do I expand into FBA in Canada, you would literally go into your Seller Central side for your Canada account and type in selling in Canada from the US with FBA and you'll get information on how to expand that way. Bradley Sutton: Excellent, excellent. Now just to give people an idea of what this could mean for you and everybody's accounts is different, but I have literally done no optimization. I haven't even edited my keywords or anything to make it right. All I did last year in one of my accounts is just turn on the Remote Fulfillment. Let me just show you, guys, my Helium 10 profits window here. But in one time period in Project X, my Project X account, I did $132,000 in USA and by never even looking at it, not even touching it at all, never having to ship something myself to Canada, I did $10,000 in Canada. So is that going to make me a millionaire by selling in Canada? Mexico only did a couple of hundred dollars, but still that's almost getting to 10% of my revenue by not even lifting a finger, just clicking a couple of buttons to enroll, and I was able to increase my sales in this one time period by $10,000. So, guys, if you haven't enrolled into this program, definitely do it. Not only are you going to be able to sell in Canada, but also Mexico. And now the newest member of the team is Amazon Brazil to really tap into that marketplace. So, Jaisal and Irais, thank you so much for joining us today and giving us all this knowledge about this program. I hope that all of our listeners are going to be enrolled by the end of this episode and maybe we'll bring you back next year and see what's new with the Remote Fulfillment program. So thank you so much for joining us.
