In the early morning hours of September 2nd, 2002, the police received a 911 call from an affluent North Hollywood neighborhood. There was a Mercedes SUV on fire. After Labor Day Weekend home improvement plans fell through. Richard and his wife Belinda made the last-minute decision to take their 2 children 5-year-old David and 5-month-old Melissa and their Basset Hound Droopy and go on a camping trip in the Siskiyou Mountains in Copper Oregon. This seemingly normal camping trip would end up going from a missing persons case to a homicide case in a period of months. And to this day the mystery remains unsolved. February 25th, 1957, on a rural road in Pennsylvania a young boy was found murdered inside a cardboard box. It would take until December 8th, 2022, before we even knew who this young boy was. Lake Superior is the largest freshwater lake in the world by surface area and the third largest by volume, holding 10% of the world's surface fresh water. Lake Superior has a surface area of 31,700 sq miles. Its average depth is 80.5 fathoms or 483 feet with a maximum depth of 222.17 fathoms or 1,333 ft. The great lakes which consist of Superior, Michigan, Huron, Erie, and Ontario and they have about 10,000 estimated shipwrecks in their waters. At 2:00pm on Monday April 26th 1993 a janitor entered a bathroom on the 2nd floor of Bartlett Hall, a dorm at the University of Alaska Fairbanks. The janitor was there to clean up on the women's floor of the dorm. When she entered the private stall with a bathtub she was faced with a horrifying discovery. Terrified, she ran out screaming but unable to speak from shock she grabbed a student to show them the horror she discovered. They called the police and soon the campus was swarming with police officers and crime scene tape hung on the door to the bathroom. On November 12, 1966, a group of 4 or 5 gravediggers were digging a plot inside Clendenin's Reamer Hill Cemetery in Clendenin West Virginia. The group was led by Kenneth Duncan. While working the group noticed something above their heads. It was a massive figure that was moving quickly from tree to tree basically soaring in the tree tops. It was a brown human-like figure with wings. They didn't know what to make of it until an article came out in the Point Pleasant Register on November 16th 1966, The headline read “Couples see a man-sized bird, creature, something?” After that article came out the group of gravediggers told their story. March 7th, 2019, 25 miles outside of Vegas a 911 call came in at 9:30 am about a 2017 Mercedes-Benz left abandoned near the Lake Mead recreational center. When the police got there, they noticed that the car's windows were down. They saw latex gloves in the front seat and the back seat was covered in blood. They also noticed a foul smell when they got near the trunk of the car. Once they opened the trunk, they discovered the cause of the smell. He was one of the most notorious stagecoach robbers in Northern California and Southern Oregon. In the 1870's and 1880's. He was known for sophistication and style. August 22nd, 2018, a call comes into the 911 dispatch in Lower Merion Township Pennsylvania from Alexander Ciccotell. He wanted a well fair check done on his fiancé Christina Carlin-Kraft whom he couldn't get ahold of. Christina was at their high-end condo complex in Ardmore, Pennsylvania. August 15, 2009, the Buena Park, California police department received a 911 call from a man saying that he had found the body of what appeared to be a child in a suitcase. When the police arrived at 7:30am they discovered it was not the body of a child but that of a woman. As a true crime podcaster, I have heard the saying a hundred times. Why true crime now.
