Send us a Text Message. The case of Zack Bowen and Addie Hall is a chilling example of love gone terribly wrong. In October 2006, the couple, who had been in a seemingly happy relationship, became the center of a horrifying crime in New Orleans. Zack Bowen, a former U.S. Army soldier, brutally murdered his girlfriend, Addie Hall, in their apartment. The crime scene was horrifying: Zack Bowen had not only killed Addie, but also dismembered her body in a gruesome attempt to hide the evidence. Zack then jumped to his death after writing a confession to police. If you feel that you are struggling with PTSD, you don't have to struggle alone. "Pikachu?! It's Tinky-Winky! And actually Tinky-Winky was the purple one and Po was the yellow one. You are all over the place!" argues Stephen as Christi discovers if there's one line she shouldn't cross t's Stephen's nerdiness (it's ok Christi, Po was actually the red one!). An in depth-analysis of Tinky-Winky's purse might not be the spookiest topic to kick-off this week's episode, but trust us that once the actual topic gets underway you'll deeply miss the innocence of Tinky-Winky's purse. On this week's episode of Beyond the Norm Christi and Stephen are diving head first into two modern true-crime stories that are equal parts shocking and revolting. The first story concerns the fate of Lacey Fletcher, a woman who was left to die on her family's couch over the course of 12 years. After Lacey suffered a cognitive set-back in her 20's, her parents decided she was better off on the couch where they wouldn't have to deal with her. Slowly but surely Lacey's body atrophied into the cushions, fusing with the couch itself. The resulting scene was so horrific that the medical examiners determined it to be one of the cruelest crime scenes they'd ever witnessed. The second story brings us back to our Beyond the Norm home of New Orleans for the scandalous murder of Addie Hall by her boyfriend Zack Bowen. Trapped together by Hurricane Katrina, their relationship was already on the rocks and both Addie and Zack hit their breaking points. Addie handled it by requesting that Zack be evicted. Zach handled it by murdering Addie and killing himself. The eight page suicide note left behind by Zach detailed his crimes in exacting and haunting detail. The crime scene is the stuff of pure nightmares. There's still plenty of people in the French Quarter who remember the events well. Some of those people might even know Stephen and have given him a little direct insight into the lives of Zack and Addie, and if you tune-in he might just share them with you! Quotes“I should just change your name in my phone to Ignorant Bitch instead of Christi. I mean that's just more appropriate.” (5:42-5:48 | Stephen)“My husbands here, I'm not neglecting [the dog], he's taking care of her. Oh my god! Like if you could chew up food and spit it down her throat like a bird you would.” (31:41-31:48 | Christi & Stephen)“Hey thanks for your service! Here's some nipples!” (37:31-37:36 | Christi)“No human flesh was found in his system. Ok good. Which means that he didn't actually eat her... not that that makes it any better!" Hey Deadtime Storians I wanted to share some sad news with all of you. Unfortunately we lost a very close friend to our personal family as well as the Deadtime Stories family this weekend. In honor of Tracy, I wanted to re-run the first episode we used her music for. Rest in peace my friend.New Orleans is full of history, ghost stories, and true crime. On October 17, 2006, New Orleans police were called to the scene of a suicide. A man had jumped from the rooftop bar of the Omni Royal Orleans Hotel onto a parking garage 5 stories below. When police arrived, they searched the man for identification. The contents of the note led police to a nightmarish crime scene that became infamous in the City of New Orleans.

Í franska hverfinu í New Orleans bjuggu Addie Hall og Zack Bowen, en þau voru yfir sig ástfangin, eða svo hélt fólk. Það var svo einn dag sem lögreglan fékk símtal um mann sem hafði framið sjálfsvíg á hóteli og við skoðun á líkindu fundu þeir miða, miða sem sagði þeim að kíkja á heimili mannsins. In this episode Harmony will go over the gruesome case of Zack Bowen and Addie Hall.
Road Trip continues - while on an actual trip! With Lisa in Florida, we are trying a remote broadcast - but these stories are too horrid not to tell you! TRIGGER WARNING - Louisiana has a story of Suicide, PTSD, and trauma after military life - if these things bother you - please listen with care, or skip to the time listed below First up - Louisiana Bayou Boys(3:39 - 12:10) Lisa took the new (to her) concept of the Florida Man and brought it down to the Cajun Crowd for some fun stories of crimes gone wrong or at least confusing and mind boggling. Just incase the trigger warnings leave you needing to skip this section - you still get some Louisiana True Crime! Louisiana Main Event (12:10 - 54:39) this horrific story is of Zack Bowen and Addie Hall. This tale shows how twisted our minds can become on drugs, alcohol, and trauma that is not treated. Last up - Kentucky (54:40 - end) we are taking about the Vampire Clan of Murray (specifically Rod / Vesago) and the parents of Heather Wendorf. This story is also known as the Wendorf Murders and sad to believe this happened. It does show the powerful force belonging is to those who have no one. Ashley and Alena both promised part twos for their tales and both delivered just that in Episode 41! Ashley starts with the already incredulous life of Zack Bowen. Part 1 left off after detailing how Zack struggled to fit in growing up, how he became a father before he expected to, and what happened during his time in the military. They say opposites attract and Zack's next girlfriend, Addie Hall, proved just that. Aside from their height differences, the two both had PTSD from their life experiences but found a way to bond during their time surviving Hurricane Katrina. Unfortunately, they also both became drug abusers and heavy drinkers. This caused multiple fights and break ups. Addie was often negative and a ‘mean drunk' and lashed out at everyone, including the friends that tried to be there for her. Zack was constantly complaining about Addie, but always found his way back to her, even at the expense of his relationship with his kids. Eventually, when police found Zack's body and the note in his pocket telling investigators to check his apartment, it led to a gruesome discovery. One day, Zack had “calmly strangled” Addie, cut up her body in pieces, cooked it to dispose of it easily, and spent the last days enjoying life. It wasn't until the guilt got to him and he confessed everything in Addie's journal and his suicide note. Tune in to Ashley's retelling of this roller coaster of a relationship, because there is way more details that will leave you in shock. Alena follows up her sirens with a few steps back into history. She talks about Triton and Glaucus, two original mermen, whose tales are different but show how merpeople were around long before sirens merged appearances. Following the Ancient Greek stories, take a trip into other cultures and see just how they've always incorporated sea creatures into their myths and folklore. Listen in to learn what countries had merpeople, kelpies, sea nymphs or water deities. This mini intro into merpeople and mermaids is one that will have you wondering just how plausible it is of finding proof of their existence.
Maybe two weeks is too long...but Ashley and Alena are back with Episode 40! Alena starts the episode with part 1 of the mysterious sirens. The tales of these creatures are often confused with mermaids and Alena explains why. They have been described as sea creatures, when in reality they were more bird-like! Listen in to learn the history behind these seductive temptresses and why their tale twists with each retelling. Ashley also starts a part 1 with the eerie story of Zack Bowen. Even in the beginning, before it gets crazier and weirder, Ashley goes over the unfortunate origin of Zack's life and how he was led to do what he did later in life. They say patience is a virtue, but you will want to hear part 2 as soon as you are done listening to Ashley's telling of part 1. Tune in to discover the gruesome facts about a story that will leave you on the edge of your seat.

In part 2 of our delve into Zack Bowen and Addie Hall we get to know Addie, see how their relationship grew, and what happened after Hurricane Katrina. Zack and Addie were among the few who remained in New Orleans after Katrina and they became well known for their ability to thrive in the chaos. It was hard adjusting back to society when New Orleans was recovering and this brought back their traumas from life before. But she wasn't alive. Parts of her dismembered body were in the fridge, on the stove, and in the oven. Episode 21 Zack Bowen and Addie HallJoin host Barry Menner from Open Shudders podcast as he discusses a case that is beyond bizarre: the murder of Addie Hall by her boyfriend Zack Bowen. Zack and Addie had an intense, drug-fueled love affair, which resulted in them living together in New Orleans and riding out Hurricane Katrina. But when Zack jumped to his death from a rooftop with a note in his pocket saying he had to atone for the life he took, police searched their apartment, and found spray painted signs pointing them to the kitchen. Addie's dismembered body was cooking on the stove and roasting in the oven. What happened that put Zack over the edge, and caused him to kill the woman he loved? Zack Bowen and Addie Hall's paths crossed while working as bartenders in New Orleans. They fell head over heels for one another. Their relationship, while short, was extremely volatile. Untreated mental illness and excessive partying do not make for a harmonious pairing. Their relationship began weeks before evacuation orders were in place for Hurricane Katrina. The two decided to stay behind and endure the storm together and that's when their romance truly blossomed. After a tumultuous year their once perfect love story would become unsustainable and would come to a gruesome and disturbing end. And the story doesn't end there. Ashlee takes us through the tragic love story of Addie Hall and Zack Bowen. Zack left a written confession to the police letting them know he killed his girl friend, and then took his own life. Is this a clear case of untreated mental illness, or is there something more sinister at play. This brutal case takes place in New Orleans right after Hurricane Katrina and is often referred to as the Katrina Cannibal.
