The Allagash Alien Abductions This week, we dive deep into one of the most compelling alien abduction cases of the 1970s - the Allagash incident. Four college friends from the Massachusetts College of Art and Design embarked on what should have been a relaxing week-long canoeing expedition through the remote wilderness of northern Maine. What started as a fun outdoor adventure quickly turned into something far more sinister when they encountered mysterious lights in the pitch-black sky above Eagle Lake. The story takes an even stranger turn when years later, the men began experiencing shared nightmares that felt disturbingly real. Through hypnotic regression therapy, they uncovered suppressed memories of being taken aboard an otherworldly craft and subjected to painful examinations by gray-skinned entities with metallic eyes. Allagash Brewing will celebrate its 30th anniversary this summer, and founder Rob Tod knows where he'll be and what he'll be drinking on the brewery's birthday, July 1 – an Allagash White at the Great Lost Bear, the taphouse that served the first pint of White in Portland, Maine. “I remember it like it was yesterday. That was our very first draftline,” Tod tells Brewbound managing editor Jess Infante on the latest episode of the Brewbound Podcast. “I shipped eight kegs of Allagash White to Nappi Distributors on June 29, and July 1 I worked at the brewery all day and my plan was to head down to the Bear where I knew it was going on tap at 5 o'clock, and just hang out for a few hours and having a bunch of beers. “I thought, my work's going to be done. I've spent a year building the brewery. I've written this recipe, I've brewed the beer. I'm kind of all done,” he continued. Tod had a pint with the Bear's owners and was happy with it. He had a second pint and a realization hit him: “I've got to get back to work.” “I got in my car and I drove right back to the brewery and kept working on whatever I was working on at the time just continuing to build and piece the brewery together,” Tod said. “I've always felt like the work isn't done.” In the conversation, Tod Tod discusses growing Allagash into the 15th largest Brewers Association-defined craft brewery by volume. He also explains what Allagash is looking for in distributor partners, how much capacity his brewery has left for expansion and why the brewery pulled back in the early 2000s. “We've really optimized how we can support a market, whether it's a really close local market like Boston or Minnesota, Colorado or even Los Angeles,” Tod explained. “We really do feel like we've got a strong, competitive go-to-market plan and that we can do a really solid, optimized job supporting our distributor partners.” Tod taps into Allagash's innovation approach that checks the boxes of “balanced, drinkability, complexity and authenticity” and how the launches of a lager, hazy IPA and variety pack feed into those pillars. Plus, the Brewbound team recaps the latest headlines and plays Another Round or Tabbing Out on Minute Maid Spiked's foray into lemonade, pink and otherwise.

In August of 1976, twin brother Jim and Jack Weiner and their friends Chuck Rak and Charlie Flotz embarked on a two-week camping and canoeing trip to the Northwoods of Maine. Several days into their trip they experienced something they couldn't explain– and it would be over a decade until the truth of that night truly came to light. Remembered as “The Allagash Four” the quartet has gone down in ufology history as one of the most compelling cases of alien abductions in US history. For any long-time fans of Unsolved Mysteries, you're likely familiar with the Allagash Abduction case. It's a classic case that we haven't covered yet, so we wanted to delve into it a bit. While the original presentation by Unsolved Mysteries was pretty compelling, it seems there have been some red flags raised in the years since. What do you think? Is this an authentic recollection of a genuine alien abduction, or was this merely the dilussions of a traumatized brain, bolstered by poor hypnosis?https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dM2DFl1FJpswww.thewhatcasters.comwww.patreon.com/thewhatcast

Welcome to another effervescent episode of The DC Beer Show! In this installment, hosts Brandy Holder, Michael Stein, and Jacob Berg dive into the ever-fascinating world of brew pubs, craft beers, and the culinary delights that pair with them.Brandy kicks off the episode under the warm DC evening, lamenting her current drink of choice (wine, due to allergies) while reminiscing about a recent exceptional Allagash rum barrel-aged brew she wishes she was enjoying instead. The conversation then swirls around seasonal and special brews enjoyed during past visits to local breweries like Bluejacket and Saison Day celebrations.Jacob shares his current sip, a straightforward yet intriguing Ocelot Stratocaster pale ale, impressing with its blend of old school grain and new school hops. As the beer talk bubbles over, Michael chimes in with his own current pour, the Allagash Once Upon An Orchard—a wild Saison ale that dazzled during their recent Saison Day outing. The episode takes a lively turn as Brandy teases upcoming beer-centric events, including a Women's Brew Culture Club gathering, a spring beer fest at Solace Outpost, and an exclusive beer share at Other Half—all while planning for their live recording. Michael and Jacob mull over the blissful pairing of great beer and even greater food, contrasting preferences between stellar brews with mediocre food, versus mediocre brews with excellent cuisine. In the absence of a guest, which breaks their 98-episode streak, the hosts take advantage of discussing the evolving local beer scene, including new food ventures at brewpubs, emphasizing how these establishments enhance community ties and local economies. This episode, loaded with plans, tastings, and debates, encapsulates the ongoing love affair between craft beer and fine food, encouraging listeners to explore, engage, and enjoy the community's brewing genius. Some people nerd out about beer in general. Others go wild for water profiles, hop varieties, or yeast strains, but in Don Tse's experience, not enough people are paying attention to malted barley. It's something he's been passionate about for a decade, and a topic he finally gets to explore in-depth in his first piece for Good Beer Hunting. In that Critical Drinking op-ed, titled “Fight the Power — How Craft Malt Is Central to Taking On Beer's Industrial Complex,” Don explains how the barley of today shouldn't be the barley of yesterday. Typical crops are bred to resist disease and blight every few years. But in North America, barley that's now widely planted has been around for three decades and is the main source of what's used for malt in beer recipes. Why? Well, it takes time, money, and a lot of buy-in to change a monoculture crop like barley. That change is finally coming, thanks to investments from researchers at Cornell University, breweries like Allagash, and other forward-thinking farmers ready to make malt craft again. In our conversation, you'll hear Don talk about why it took so long for him to pursue this passion project, why as a Canadian he's focused on American farmers, why he's so stoked on things like protein levels and output, and what sort of potential and future he sees in the North American barley industry. He doesn't expect people to be as nuts about the subject as he is. But he hopes that we'll all start to care, at least a little, to keep moving craft beer and our shared agricultural future looking bright.
Today we're headed to Maine which as you may know has been dubbed Vacationland and for good reason. As that' exactly what our subjects headed there to do during one summer almost 50 years ago. Their story has been called the Allagash Abduction incident and it is perhaps one of the more famous stories of a first hand Alien encounter to ever occur in The United States.

Los asesinos, Micaya“big” Harpe y Wiley “little” Harpe Lugares Mágicos. Bosque de Transilvania Hoia-Baciu Curiosidades. Premios Darwin e Ignobel Misterio. Los niños de Ojos Negros Crónica Negra. Episode 432 - Zach Mack, Alphabet City Beer Co. Happy Monday, Thieves! We're talking to our friend Zach Mack of Alphabet City Beer Co. today. We've been fans of ABC for ages - we actually recorded an early episode of the podcast there with Jason Perkins of Allagash way back in the day — so it was a pleasure to have Zach on to talk about the history of the bar and how beer has changed in the 11+ years he's been open in the East Village. Fun, nostalgic talk with some tomato sandwich and mayonnaise opinions tossed in, to boot. Tune in and let us know what you think!***As always, you can email your questions, complaints, whimpers, or whines to us at stealthisbeerpodcast@gmail.com. GET EVERY EPISODE AD FREE PLUS BONUS CONTENT AT: www.patreon.com/crackpotpodcast On August 11, 1976, four men were camping in the Allagash Wilderness Waterway in Maine when they reported seeing a UFO. The men were Chuck Rak, Charlie Foltz, and twin brothers Jack and Jim Weiner. The four had been canoeing on Big Eagle Lake when they saw a bright light in the sky. The light was moving erratically and seemed to be following them. The men stopped paddling and watched the light. They said that it was about the size of a football field and was a bluish-white color. It was also silent. After a few minutes, the light landed on a nearby island. The men said that they saw a beam of light shine down. The men's story was widely reported in the media and became known as the "Allagash Abductions." Despite the lack of clear evidence, some people believe that the men were telling the truth about their experience. Others believe that they were mistaken or that they made up the story. In this episode, we will explore the Allagash Abductions in detail including the key facts of the sighting, and the different theories about what happened. We will also hear from the men themselves, who share their own personal accounts of the experience. What did they see that day? You decide!
